    Some absolutely stunning watches there Gary. I have two old watches, both Swiss, a 65 year old, plus an even older family heirloom, an 85 year old pocket watch issued to Turkish Railways and given to my granddad when he was with the Irish Consulate in İstanbul from 1938 to 1947. Ireland and Turkey both being neutral countries in WWII. Is it destiny that I ended up living in Istanbul myself? Maybe watches have special powers!

    I love these watches and the value they offer. The watch heads, the design, styling and technology are all excellent at this price point and the dimensions work really well for me. As positive as I am about the watches, the bracelets - in my experience - are pretty awful pretty much across the board and so, while I can get excited about originality and integrity, I am mostly happy with a good watch head knowing I will likely be finding a new strap anyway.
    So great that you are spreading the word about the watches themselves but I find it really interesting just how far bracelets (not necessarily for Seikos) have come on since the seventies!
    Look forward to seeing more cont about all these SQs, QRs, QTs, QZs, etc. which can all seem a bit of a baffling muddle.

    I paid 85 euros to service my seiko 5 actus watches (2 watches) and I am so happy I did so. Both of them manufactured (made in in japan) in 1974. It is worth spending some money to sevice/restore some old watches with history. Your video proves that it is a lie that quartz watches do not last for many years.

    • @ILikeWatches2

    Interesting how those quartz movements compare to modern ones. If you compare some old G-Shocks from the 90s to modern re-issues of the same models you see corners cut there too. The LCDs are less intricate and the functionality is reduced. Although I expect profit margins are increased.

    • @ILikeWatches2
      @ILikeWatches2  Год назад +2

      I’m using a combination of wet and dry sandpaper up to 10,000 grit followed by liquid polish…it’s VERY slow going though. I’m getting some diamond pastes to see if that speeds it up…I’m happy with the results but my god it’s slow!

Check it out.

    Such a shame they haven't cared for years now. Especially the last five years where their stuff has been nothing but junk quite frankly.
