Trevor Wittman turned kamaru Usman a fighter known for only wrestling and little to no knockouts in the ufc, into a knockout machine, in what feels like a short time. Outstanding coach but hats off to Usman for making quick improvements, that’s also crazy. Don’t know who’s more amazing Usman or Trevor.
Not that Whitman isn't a great coach but Usman did the stance switching and jabs from both stances throughout the Covington fight when he was with Henri Hooft.
"Both knees grabbing the ground together" is such an underrated and rare piece of advice. It made a huge difference in my striking when I implemented that. It opens the door to really twisting the body around the center axis, which is where true power lies. Good stuff!
@@LECityLECLEC it's hard to convey by text, but I'll try. Imagine that each of your legs is one side of a tweezer, and you're trying to "pick up" the ground with them. It's kinda like just pressing the legs together, except that you want to keep their structure intact, and not collapse the knees/feet inward. Makes sense?

Like Miyamoto Musashi says, your stance should be your natural stance. Your steps like your natural walking. What he means is, your stance should only be as wide as your natural gait; not long, not short
You don't need to be generating the same degree of power in fencing that you need to in unarmed fighting, but minute distance adjustments are even more important.
That's what separates the best power punchers, with the rest. That fact that they really know how to use their weight and momentum to add some real power to their punches. A lot of MMA fighters struggle at this. Then there's Ngannou, where it doesn't even matter at all lmao.
Wittman is a effing wizard. I love how he keeps his "stable" of fighters SUPER lean only truly focusing on a handful of athletes. And the handful he has, GOTTTT DAMN Thug Rose, Usman - All time great, Gaethje is violence personified, hands down best leg kicker in MMA. Clinch? Leg kicks. Against the fence? Leg kicks Moving backwards? Leg kicks Exchanging in the pocket? Leg kicks

I broke my wrist on a guy because I miss placed his solar plexus, but the 16 piece that I gave from just regular boxing knowledge was beautiful to the point he’s backing and I’m right on him with every step
the fact that stuff like this even needs to be taught more than a brief mention, is mind boggling, because I actually perform it worse if I try to 'think' about it...if I just let it go it happens on its own
I used to train middle aged white collar workers for charity boxing events. It was very difficult to get their hands and feet to work together. I only had 3 months and while we would work on this I focused on mental and physical conditioning to get the win. But if you are serious about the sport you will be at a huge disadvantage if you don't learn this.

With the awkward smile too.

Just shows how much the UFC can brainwash people with their media machine to this day.

Usman is ok still flatfooted and will get tagged up if his movement stays stationary

Opposite, It looks terrible, but is actually effective cause he's very accurate. He overextends on everyshots and leave himself very open to counters.

Is the walking punches is the same method Vitor Velfort used to defeat Wanderlei Silva?
