  • Tuesday, 4:30am, I roll out of bed with every intention to take it easy this morning. I log on to Zwift and check out what's on... the DBR Pulsure Cup race around the "Royal Pump Room 8" with a stacked 65 deep field in A-Grade? Ok, I'm in.
    Let's see how this goes.

Well done , it takes a strong mentality to finish this race ....... The field was so stacked with big names , once they started making their moves, it was just brutal for everyone ..... Racing in such strong field will definitely help you stepping up your game and climb up the rankings , hope to race again with you soon

Super strong effort! Those Zwift races are crazy! I've watched Norcal Cycling, who's a pro level crit racer try these races and he gets blown off the peloton as well. A lot of it is just knowing where the efforts are going to be ahead of time. I think you should be very proud of this effort. I know I'd hate to race you!

    • @shepshape2585

@@xKillYourTVx I’m sure there is cheating involved in some of the races, but I do know that some of the more official Zwift races require you to verify certain things through Strava and other sources to try to cut back on the cheating. I never race on Zwift seriously, just for a good workout. Nobody is getting paid one way or the other on most of these races, so I don’t know why people cheat.

Yes there are many cheaters. The worst thing IS there are pros among them (winning unfair monthly money), even if their fake is obvious, like improving 50w (for the same heart rate) in 1 week or... becoming smaller (losing height) over time... Zwift : when actual low B, if not C, Can pretend to be A+ or even 5w+ ftp without problem.

I wish there was a category where weight wasn't a factor and then people could win that can sustain more power. As a 100kg ride I'm pushing so much more power to keep up with the lighter riders and get destroyed on the hills. And it would give everyone the chance to compete with all types of rider

interesting feats of strength Tilly ... strong - maybe mass watts at the start would have kept you in the group as you clearly have the power, I tend to ride group rides on zwift and then move through the groups to a point I can sustain. dropping off groups on zwift always seems to waste the ride as the group draft is invincible. other times a large blob group can eat up smaller groups, that's fun being part of that domination. ride for fun.😀

Good stuff! This course wasn't particularly well suited to you either, it should be said. Assuming that you're generally on the lighter side in the field, you end up having to make a bigger relative effort to keep up, since the course has too much flat and rolling terrain. Even the climbs themselves, other than being very short and punchy, are just not steep enough for your w/kg to really get the advantage over the big riders' raw power. It would be interesting to see you try on a course with more and steeper climbing. You might find yourself more competitive on those courses. 😉
