Very commonly asked question is about whether you need fiber for digestion, and whether you'll get constipation on a carnivore diet. In fact, some get loose stools instead of constipation on Carnivore, and don't know why. Well, you're answers are here! Share this with others who you think it would help!

I was vegan for over 10 years my health had to changed grossly. I literally had to stop my food business because half of my cartilage somehow disappeared from my left hip and they were throwing out hip surgery into the air at the doctors office. I’ve always been into doing everything natural, so I was on another quest to find out what was going on with my body. My oldest daughter introduced me to carnivore, and after one night of listening to all the carnivore doctors online, I jumped right in head first. My husband looked at me like I was nuts because I went from one extreme to the other. I was eating cheese and fish mostly at the beginning and then I started really bringing that meat in heavy and now I have been eating mostly meat. I love it. My brain works 100% better. My body works 100% better. I feel so much better and I’m so grateful forever grateful. I feel like I need to definitely share this with the world, because It has made A 365° difference in my life

My husband 75 ( I am 70) is SO worried about my cholesterol because I eat meat, fat, cheese, milk from grass fed cows (or raw when I can), bacon, LOTS of eggs ( we raise our own)and more meat!!! He is constantly urging me to go to the doctor for a blood panel. When I was 65 I had a calcium score done and it was zero. The doctor said although my LDL was high ( 177) she saw no need to put me on a statin (of which I would not take!) My husband is on a statin, blood pressure meds, nitrogen tabs, and a couple other meds. I think I’ll keep eating meat!!!

I can really relate to this video. I was a vegetarian for 25 years and began suffering from constipation alternating with loose stools, plus frequent abdominal pain in my 40s. It got worse as I reached my 60th year. At that time I became interested in fasting to lose weight (i'd also put on some lbs in the meantime) and stumbled into keto. That was 2018 and I committed to it for a year. I did lose weight but I was surprised that all of my abdominal problems seemed to go away too. Great. But then I experienced the death of a loved one and went into a tailspin. I stopped eating for a while due to the depression and when I got out of that I just began eating whatever I wanted; heavy carbs, even some junk food. That lasted through the covid years. I noticed my abdominal issues coming back and this time with a vengeance. By the beginning of 2022 I was in pain so often that my daily life was negatively impacted. I began to dread eating anything, knowing the effects. I also began noticing blood so I finally got (the dreaded) colonoscopy. OMG, they cut out like 10 polyps, 2 of which were quite large (and "very old"). It was an awful experience but within 2 days I felt like a new person! No cancer was detected. My system was back to normal! To celebrate I went totally overboard on eating whatever I wanted. But then I found myself gainjng way too much. So back to keto I go! Since December 2022 I've lost 15 lbs and since I've been doing 85% carnivore, with plenty of fat, my digestion and elimination feels practically perfect. I really screwed myself up with 40 years of too much processed food and fiber!

After all of the usual chemotherapy, radiation, surgery then follow up chemo I’m now cancer free. Sadly I’ve been plagued with diarrhea since then (2008) and I’ve struggled with “cures” that all emphasized high fibre. I’m thinking carnivore maybe will be a success (?).

Things will change as more medical professionals start to listen to their intuition, patients, and question the 'science'.
Patient...means we have to be patient with those we see in medical profession as they, like most of us, are caught between their programming and their intuition.
And most alternative healers still promote plant based eating. To date I have consulted with only one naturapath who advocated for meat based eating. She also recommended a host of tests which my then doctor begrudgingly gave me a referral for with the statement that naturapaths don't know everything so I assumed she meant doctors have superior knowledge...
      The upshot:
The doctor sent me to a psychologist for my undiagnosed spasmodic dysphonia and the naturapath recommend a thyroid ultrasound which revealed three growths.
The doctor said come back in six months to retest my blood sugars and if they are still high she would prescribe medication the naturapath recommended a ketogenic diet.
The naturapath detected depression, anxiety, ocd, adhd and autism in my emotional body, and thyroid, detoxification and heart issues in my physical body.
Meat based eating seems to calm all those farms but what do I know I am not a doctor. All good I am a specialist in me, myself and I so I shall scaffold my health with the wisdoms of other self-specialising people.
We need to teach all health professionals to hear us and treat us as a category of one rather than one of a category.

You speak with the voice of an angel! I have struggled with fiber for YEARS. Severe gas, a very noisy system that kept me up at night, cramps in the morning... just a general feeling of lethargy and pain all because I tried to be a good little human and eat my veggies. I had to stop eating broccoli because it was among the worst of culprits. Cabbage because the stomach monster. I didn't dare touch kale. I started out keto and have reduced my diet to keto-vore; I still eat some veggies like mushrooms and olives and peppers. But for the most part, it's all the meat I can get my hands on. And yet, at the back of my mind, I was wondering if I needed fiber. so, THANK YOU, Dr Chaffee!! You have set me free!

1.5 years ago I ended up in the hospital for an emergency operation of the appendix. The surgeon then told me that I needed to eat more fiber. I'm refraining from commenting because at the time I was on a ketogenic diet and eating 200g of salad every day. After recovery I switched to carnivore

I went on a "healthy" kick for 2 years after watching multiple documentaries like fork over knives. Started eating heavy amount of fiber and plants. Had my appendix removed right after that period. Also, ate a sub right after surgery (Grains, fiber, with some vegetables) and had terrible pains. Later learned this is the worst thing to eat after surgery (wonder why). Now that I'm learning about the carnivore diet it all makes sense.

Grew up eating meat heavy, animal fats (bacon grease, beef tallow) with a little veg and potato. No health issues. In the 80’s we all were tricked. Weight piled on despite the “professionals” telling us how to eat healthy. I’m amazed how easy I was fooled. Thinking our bodies “needed” all the cr*#. Im so grateful I found Keto in 2017 and fixed my health BY MYSELF. No mumbo-jumbo. EAT. THE. MEAT. 😂Fool me no more!

I definitely was getting loose stool and didn’t realize it was the coffee. I love my coffee and can’t quite bring myself to give it up, but if it continues to give me diarrhea, something’s gotta “give”😊. But lately, I’m still drinking coffee, and no diarrhea, but the opposite problem…haven’t gone in a few days! I’m comforted hearing you say this is normal, and even optimal, and makes sense, but still alarming, and not what I’m used to. I’ve always eating a lot of fiber and had “regular”(substantial😊) bowel movements. I can see where this is over working the organ, not to mention causing bloating and weight gain, inflation and everything else. I have seen so many positive effects from going carnivore that I am convinced! I took my dog off garbage kibble because of this and put her on straight, raw carnivore, and I think it’s saved her life. I’m just stubborn, and I want to continue drinking my coffee, and if I’m not having diarrhea, I feel like I can do so. I know you would advise against this. But I also want to “go”, so…more fat I suppose(which may divert my coffee plans), we’ll see. Also, it’s interesting how negatively you speak of fiber because your body doesn’t use it and just passes it, but you speak of fat in the same way, we only absorb a limited amount of it, then it passes through us. Seems like you’re just trading fiber for fat? Anyway, great results, you’re living proof, and I’m hoping to due similar!❤

Hi Dr Chaffe, so happy to have found you! I started out keto, transitioned into ketovore, and now on week 2 of carnivore. To have to eliminate alcohol, keto sweeteners, dairy and coffee is just too much for me to handle at this point. I’ve almost eliminated dairy not even being sure wether or not it’s hard on me but with my history of SIBO and inflammation it’s probably a good idea. I did break down one night and have a glass of red wine as well as a keto approved dessert. I am still having coffee and trying to go most days without the stevia but it’s been quite difficult. When you said eliminate artificial sweeteners did you mean stevia as well? I was a frequent pooper for years and the closer I get to Carnivore the less I poop. In these past 2 weeks I’ve averaged once or twice a day and then every 3rd day will skip a day which is unheard of for me. I can’t help but wonder if I eliminated coffee would I poop even less? I was diagnosed with SIBO almost 6 yrs ago and would assume I don’t have it with these diet changes but don’t know for sure. I recently heard eggs aren’t good if you have SIBO due to high sulfur. I eat a lot more eggs after getting on the keto spectrum so would be really disappointed to have to give those up. Thank you so much for all you do!!😃

Dr. Chaffee, I love your videos. I've been carnivore for a year and I'm sold. I have one important request. Please mount your microphone away from the table. It is causing constant booming from your hands on the table or your contact with the table. It will make your videos much more pleasant to listen to. Thank you for your consideration.

Very helpful. liked and subscribed. It's my 8th day of the carnivore diet. Aside from the diarrhea, I am experiencing heart palpitations and am going to search your videos for info on that. From my research already, I am finding people saying that the electrolytes are probably off. Thank you for your work.

12:19 This was me the past week except that I wasn't freaking out. I was meat-based since a year ago, eating meat, eggs, dairy, and fruit (no veggies), and was going 1-2 times a day. Since I started strict carnivore 2 weeks ago, I sometimes go 48hrs without going. The longest was 96hrs, and the reason I wasn't freaking out is because I knew I wasn't constipated. I wasn't bloated, my belly wasn't protruding [like it usually would when I ate fiber (fruit)]. The strangest thing is that I've actually lost weight, lost fat to be more specific, mainly around the midsection. The 98% absorption rate explains the fat loss. I was wondering how is it that I'm going so rarely, yet the scale keeps showing me a smaller number.

Yes exactly! Your body is using all of this efficiently, and will stop you from overeating by making things stop tasting as good, so you'll lose weight and gain muscle in ideal ratios

Quick note. Isolate the mic from the vibrations on the table. The banging is quite loud and distracting. Other than that, great info.
