Into The Meadow | Simple Stitches to Create a Landscape | May Stitch Along Part 4

  • Today we're stepping Into The Meadow, adding Simple Stitches to Create an Embroidered Landscape beyond our 'Threshold'.
I will show you how to create depth and perspective in your embroidered scenes using really beginner friendly techniques. This is Part 4 of our May Stitch Along.
You'll need some fabric scraps, embroidery threads, needle and scissors and perhaps an erasable marking pen.
Think about what sort of scenery will reflect the mood and atmosphere of what you hope will be beyond your threshold. Mine suggests an flourishing life and regeneration, so I have used vibrant tones to create a meadow. Yours may be very different.
If you like what you see and want to catch all the videos in this series, you can subscribe to this channel, and if you click the notifications bell, you will never miss an upload.
Join me at 2.30pm GMT every Sunday for a restful time of slow stitch, embroidery and textile art. Each month we are going to create a complete piece of art that we will create bit by bit each week.
Feel free to follow my design, use my piece as inspiration, or you could use the same techniques as me to create something totally original.
I hope to try lots of new things this year as I create my 2024 stitched journal. I hope you will come along for the ride!
Please tag me when you post your creations on social media. @featherstitchhouse and use #fshwingingit24 so that I can see your beautiful work.

Absolutely gorgeous! I love the little glimpse of meadow through the window and then… that glorious profusion of flowers. Whoever commented on the density of your stitches, how rude… and how utterly wrong!

I'm glad you don't care about what anyone else thinks about stitch density. I think the whole project is so cool. Your meadow is so beautiful and your story added so much to the video which was edited perfectly for us to follow along. I so enjoy all that I learn from you and it is so nice to hear your joy. Thx for your sharing once again.

That means so much. I was worried about the editing this week because I was really short of time. You have no idea how much your comment mattered to me. I'm delighted that you like the finished panel. I love it too. Thanks for watching. 🤗

Another gorgeous piece of art. I feel like I could walk right through and the meadow would go on forever.

So much to love about this piece. The meadow is stitched to the brim with colour, and that's exactly how it should be! Love it.

This project turned out very nice and most importantly it is a favorite of yours. I can't imagine anyone being so RUDE as to make a comment about "over" stitching. I'm glad you ignored them and stitched whatever you liked. As they say, 'you do you'. Looking forward to June. Thanks

Absolutely! I can only be myself and stitch in my way - nothing else will work because it won't be authentic. Thanks so much for being here. 🤗

Fantastic, I just love your meadow. Can't believe people criticize you for "over stitching" your work, after all it's your channel and you can do what you like. ♥♥♥

Oh, you'd be amazed at the comments I get! It used to upset me, but middle-age has it's advantages! 😂 I just roll my eyes and move on. There are so many beautiful people like you here, that the occasional troll doesn't stand a chance! Thank you so much. ☺️

Oh my goodness, what a beautiful panel, each month I think wow! But I do think this is the best.
I don't understand those who comment about your work being too busy, and I am glad you don't care about them, my goodness those people need to just hush up, he still and enjoy the video of turn it off... Your work is stunning, and each year I watch your effectiveness flow out of you into fabric and stitch art that is really very beautiful. I love your videos, thank you for sharing with us.

Oh, what a beautiful thing to say. Thank you so much for your kindness and support. I am so delighted that you like the panel. In some ways, I think the more heartfelt and authentic the piece is, the better it turns out. This one was very special to me. I hope in some small way, it puts a little bit of hope back into a troubled world. Thanks for being here. 🤗

Thankyou so much for sharing you going through the door into the meadow story. I really loved hearing it as I too, only a week ago had a very strong vision of walking through a door and into a field. It was beautiful!! But, as you have, since that happened I've had some emotions if anger sadness even depression frustration impatience. Being a very spiritual person I put that down to the grief we will ,sometimes unknowingly, have of leaving behind the old and going into the new. Even tho that "grief", frustration, impatience, is happening, there is still a sense of peace and knowing of wellbeing to come.
Thankyou so much for sharing this.
Of course i was then drawn (like a moth to a flame at a guidace level) to your video today without even knowing there was a door in it, and here I see you stitching .....A DOOR!!! First time watching your videos and have just found you through you button making videos. Amazingly fabulous that here is a kindred spirit of slow stitching going through that spiritual door at exactly the same time and I i definitely needed to hear your take on it about the meadow.... as i was starting to become a little angry and frustrated at times not understanding where this was all going with the Door way. Your story resonated perfectly!!! ❤❤
Ive stitched a few doors with keys the last few months and your door is absolutely fabulously amazing!!!🥰🥰
I think I'm going to have to do another one lololol. Great inspiration from you both spiritually emotionally and craftily/artistically..... I will be subscibing to your channel. Thankyou. ❤❤❤❤

Hi Melinda. Thank you so much. Your message made me cry. I am so touched that this piece resonated with you so deeply. I'm amazed by the response to the door and the meadow. It seems like it has touched a collective ache of so many women across the world. It seems this piece needed to be made to help us all reach out to one another. Bless you for your courage as you step through into your meadow. You are not alone. 🤗

Kate at the Last Homely House has a virtual lime green sofa, where we join her to either do our hand stitching, chat or sit and listen. Do you have a virtual bench overlooking your meadow, where we can sit and watch with you? I hope you do, as I, for one, so enjoy spending time with you. ❤👍from Somerset

    • @featherstitchhouse
      @featherstitchhouse  2 месяца назад

Absolutely! It's probably green too - a more gentle shade though - and very roomy. There are also footstools so we can all put our feet up, and the kettle is always on. You can come and sit with me whenever you like. One day, the bench won't be just virtual, but I'm happy with that for now. Thanks for being here. 🤗

I’m trying to figure out what my new beginning looks like. I’m trying to go with the flow and trust God, but it does get overwhelming. I’m glad I have my fiber art to keep me grounded, plus the prompts that you and the Roxy girls give us on a regular basis.

It is hard sometimes. Sometimes the path is very shadowy indeed. All we can do is keep putting one foot in front of the other. The green pastures will come. Mindful stitching is a way of bringing some stillness in. I'm so glad my videos help. Thanks for being here. 🤗
