- Here is my first ever unboxing video for the Lenovo Thinkpad E550 Laptop that i received yesterday.
Laptop specs
4gb of Ram
500gb 7200 rpm seagate HDD
Core 17 processor 5500u
Full HD Screen
R7 AMD Video card
fingerprint scanner
came pre-loaded with the folowing malware -
Unico Browser
PastaLeads
Pepperzip
but no superfish!
easy to remove - which i have done.
Have also placed a Samsung evo 850 250gb ssd in the laptop and it flies.
Battery life is excellent and i get 7 hours of general usage
Update from one year on
Laptop still running smoothly, windows 10 went on with no major problems (didn't like the AMD drivers but that was easily rectified).
Screen viewing angles not the best but ok for about 45 degree radius (is that right or did I just make that up?)
Boots up from cold in about 25 to 45 seconds - because of REASONS.
Battery life is OK, I get around 3 hours of constant usage with the system optimised for the ssd and about 5-6 if it's on power save.
Don't use the finger print scanner at all, if you need to save a few pounds/bucks then don't bother.
Although it does a separate AMD graphics card it obviously isn't good enough to play state of the art games, but can handle some older titles really well.
I'd give this a solid 8 out of 10 or to use an obscure rating system I'd rate it a foot long BMT on the subway scale.
I just ordered one off of amazon for $650 and it's the same as yours except it has a terabyte HDD. Where would I be able to buy an SSD to replace it and how much would it be? Thanks!
ssd's are really easy to fit. get one and you won't regret it.
I'm finding it great. It's a solid machine and the ssd makes it fly.
The 1080p screen has amazing viewing angles (being a matt screen) and I am using the i7 processor.
It's always cheaper to add the ram yourself.
I added the Fingerprint scanner but don't use it (it was only a few pounds)
A very good laptop with around 6 - 7 hours of battery.
