It's spooky and all but you do wonder why, in this world, NASA decided to just go ahead with a Mars mission knowing that the Martians are evil and warlike. Surely humanity would have armed themselves against such an eventuality by now...?!

@@agathahenney358 Seeing as how this comes from NASA in the 2000s and that humanity is now sending stuff to Mars, it's likely they thought the Martians died off or that they were currently in the beginning of a second invasion already taking place outside the US while NASA was cut off.
They'd best hope they have a better plan as modern human technology is far more capable of combating them than artillery guns once before.
I tend to think the whole “Martians tried to invade Earth” thing was covered up by the British government.
The implication of this scene is that it's actually taking place in our world and not the War of the Worlds universe.

Plot twist: the Martians were taking vengeance on the few humans they could get to before the plague killed their entire homeworld.

actually there was no plague on mars in the war of the worlds musical game the martians explain that mars was incapible of sustaining life and that their efforts to maintain the biosphere were exhausted and as one martian put it "the water tables and temperature decrease accurately as does our population"

for everyone who is confused an invaison happened and stuff and yeah also the guy is on earth on radio frequencys when the two other robot craft are destroyed and their controllers lose communication to the main robot controller (basically taking pictures and examing mars)

Why does it end abruptly like that, it seems like there should be more but it got cut for some reason
I presume the epilogue is set in the future, the martians have learnt from their mistakes and returned, cutting off all communication.
This also leaves a question mark about Earth’s fate.

That was most likely just the assault forces that were wiped out, the cylinder is more likely an apology of sorts, or just an attempt to wipe out as much people as they can before the bacteria got to all of them. Just my thoughts.

Oops! Maybe they weren't done. Does anyone remember a Canadian sci-fi series about war of the worlds, where original remains were put in barrels wth toxic waste and evolved so they could surive on this planet. I'm sure I remember something, Canadians have always been brilliant and close to uk in ideas for sci-fi and comedy.
