Regarding Twilight Princess (original) vs. Skyward Sword redundant explanations... I feel like it's largely a subjective matter, rather than an objective one. I believe Skyward Sword costs you more time in the long run... Twilight Princess re-explains blue, yellow, red, and purple rupees when they're picked up again-- it explains all the different types, but orange ones are picked up super rarely and there's only one place in the game where you can pick up a silver, if I recall, so it's no big deal, whereas Skyward Sword has a whole _grid_ of items to re-explain. However, re-explaining items and showing me my totals after I've been away from the game at least has a purpose. It's not one that I need, but at least it does have a purpose, and collectibles are rare _enough_ that I don't dread picking one up, and also, collectibles are really useful and feel fun to pick up! I can't really explain the psychology of it, but I enjoy looking at the collectibles and having to sit through a textbox isn't so bad that it diminishes them entirely. Also, lots of collectibles are avoidable. You never _have_ to pick up bugs or run for Amber Relics, so I often think to myself "You know what? Ok. I resign myself to this text box. I get it. I'm gonna grab the collectible anyway knowing what will happen." In Twilight Princess, there is NO benefit to having rupees re-explained to you. If I pick up a yellow rupee and I've completely forgotten how much those are worth and I didn't see how much it added to my wallet, I'm not gonna think "JESUS CHRIST WAIT I DON'T REMEMBER HOW MUCH YELLOWS ARE WORTH. HOW MANY RUPEES DID I JUST GET?" Besides, my rupee counter is _always_ on screen. Explaining rupees has absolutely no benefit aside from the very first time you ever play a Zelda game! TP doesn't even add any new rupee colors; it's got all the same ones from WW (Yellow is new, and the N64 games' Silver/Gold rupees have been changed to Orange/Silver). Also, it's really hard to avoid picking rupees! They pop up randomly and FREQUENTLY. Lastly, rupees just get super useless in TP. After a certain point you are super tired of seeing them, and by the end of the game, I feel _disgust_ every time I have to see the words "You got a blue Rupee (5)!" I feel like I've suffered some sort of crushing defeat when I avoid rupees for hours only to accidentally and mindlessly grab a blue when I wasn't paying attention and I have to stare at Link's dumb face as he smiles at it. There isn't even any cute flavor text like Skyward Sword's items! *tl;dr - It's a totally subjective thing. If you care more about the time loss, Skyward Sword is worse. If you care more about how the redundant explanations make you **_feel,_** Twilight Princess may very well be the worse one.*
Tons of other factors, too, like the fact that Skyward Sword already spends a lot of time re-explaining things to you, so maybe that makes them in SS even more annoying, or maybe the fact that Twilight Princess typically _isn't_ bombarding you with tutorials makes the rupee explanation stick out even more, so TP is more annoying, or perhaps it's the exact opposite to you! It's very subjective, and I don't think there's a definitive answer even though this debate comes up frequently.
Honestly, the rupees being re-explained doesn't bother me too much. Redundant explanations don't bother me as long as they don't waste too much of my time. I usually just tune them out. But when there's like 5 in the span of 20 minutes, then I get upset
Ok I have to admit I love Emile's videos his content is always enjoyable and he has a ton of knowledge about all the games he plays for the channel but Kirby stole this video for me that was way to precious
Ah seeing this game finished again. I would love to see Fi and Ghirahim reappear in a new zelda game. It would be amazing to see him especially come back as an evil master sword. It would be an easy story writing process as well. Demise breaks his seal on the master sword, inhabits ganondorfs body, and reawakens Ghirahim. Fi brings a new Link back into the loop. They already have the criticism on Fi so they could make her less tedious, but keep her normal attitude. In general it would be wonderful to have the two sword spirits clash again in a new game.
I think Groose and Link will become friends later on in life but by the end of the game they are friendly acquaintances. Also you cat must really love you. It’s too cute.
I can't believe it's over already! Thanks for introducing this game to me Chugga, and in such depth! I really didn't know anything about Skyward Sword until now, besides that it was a less popular Zelda game.
I have a feeling I'll be revisiting this playthrough at some point in time. It was so fantastic, and made me reconsider my opinions about the game. There was so much more to it that I completely missed.
Can we just all agree that Kirby is best cat? Interrupts a recording to make sure that his owner is alright. If that isn't the cutest thing I've ever heard, I don't know what is...
Actually distracting Demise with the bug net DOES have a purpose in the second phase. The reason why it sometimes takes a while for lightning to strike the master sword is because first, you have to wait for lightning to strike in the distance and the sky to light up. That's when you can do it, and if there's lightning in the background, you can get it almost instantly. To preserve health, you can distract Demise with the bug net so you won't get attacked and then when there's lightning in the background, you can move away and point the master sword skyward.
The first Girahim fight legitimately terrified me on my first playthrough. Because first thing I did was hit him with my sword all willy-nilly, and I let him grab and take it. There was just something about seeing the villain with my own main weapon that made them seem really intimidating.
Y'know...if Demise was planning to destroy the world soon after his return...one has to wonder why the ski and surface in the future are still intact..
On the topic of redundant explanations: One thing to keep in mind is that sine this series was 74 episodes long, chugga turned his game off and back on roughly 74 times, which triggers the items to be re-explained. I don't think most people play games in 20 minute sessions, personally I play them in several hour sessions, so the redundant explaining would be significantly reduced. With that being said, I don't think that the redundant explanations aren't a problem, I just think they are exaggerated quite a bit from this play through. Just once more to reiterate: Redundant explanations ARE a problem, they were just inflated by this play though.
Other miscallaneous tidbits: - Headmaster Gaepora is not the only Skyloft resident that reacts to the disappearance of the Isle of The Goddess. IIRC, Orielle (The young woman with the orange clothing and brown braided hair) also comments on it, and I think her brother Parrow does as well. Can't remember if anyone else does. - After completing the underwater faron woods segment and before obtaining the triforce, you can use the Groosenator to fast-travel to several of the minigames in the overworld. This includes Thrill Digger in Eldin and the Lightning Round in Lanayru. That's only two extra tidbits, but some people probably find it interesting.
XiFan Ducks go binge watch one of his old lets plays. That's what I do in order to get my daily does of Chuggaaconroy. I'm currently binge watching his Okamiden lets play.
Was an absolute blast playing along side you for my first time on the Switch HD port, I found the beginning a bit slow like you said and my first thought was to get your play through going on the side while I did mine and I ended up loving this entire game! Any slow part or returning to the same areas was always fun with your commentary and tips, this is definitely one of my favourite Zelda’s up to this point and I think I have you to thank for it. Thank you for making my wait for Tears of the Kingdom disappear for a good week, now I’ve only got to wait until Friday. Thanks Chugga ❤
I know it’s been more than a year since you’ve finished Skyward Sword, but I just discovered this today. If you talk to Groose at his Grooseinator, after Demise has been resurrected (I think), he flings you to several locations without using bird statues. Apparently he sends you to all of the minigame locations.
Why would you remove 4 for the Spirit Vessels? Only 3 of them were redundant. The first one would have been new. So there were actually 217 redundant explanations.
According to Emile himself, shortly after he said that he was excluding the Spirit Vessels, he states that a redundant explanation is when the camera zooms in, it describes the item, and then goes into the pause menu to add to the counter of the material gained. The Spirit Vessels (and by extension the Tears) do not go into the menu, so they're excluded.
Also, while he counted the individual gratitude crystals, he didn’t count the groups of 5 that are given at the end of the side quests. For each and every bunch a text box appears, you go into your menu, and it shows your new total
Chugga ever since I discovered your channel when I was 7 it not only inspired me as a person, but also helped me. since I was a only child I had trouble interacting with children my age, but after I started to watch you I slowly learned how to not only interact with the real world but also my peers
If he ever plays Twilight Princess, expect me to be very active in pointing out things he misses as well as other tips and tricks. I really want him to play it for the channel. It would make me so happy
I really, really want Chugga to do a Let's Play of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky for PSP and PC. Absolutely fantastic Let's Play material, great game, and one of the most criminally underrated games on this planet.
To be fair, the redundant expla actions would've been significantly shorter if you didn't succumbed to your urge of picking up all the things every second you see them, but I digress.
Now I just want an actual episode compilation of all the redundant moments :3 ... The sad fact is that someone has probably been saving every instance and is already working on the upload if Chugga hasn't already
I'm so glad they removed the redundant explanations in Skyward Sword HD. They didn't remove the redundant explanations of the random gratitude crystals you find though strangely enough.
I like that Groose seems to be proud of being, bit the main hero, but being someone how is explicitly necessary in the timeline. he seems proud that his actions are extremely important, even if Link is the more important and the one to get Zelda
Guys, his next project is going to be Mario and Luigi Partners in Time because Chugga said in the last episode that his next LP is a "direct sequel to something [he] has played before" and that he wants "to change people's minds about". Mario and Luigi Partners in Time is both a direct sequel to an LP he did and a game many people didn't play/like.
You can actually unlock heart dowsing way before the sandship, you can get it in your first visit to the Faron woods, you don't need the upgraded dowsing abilities, as shown by the heart dowsing being in one of the four dowsing slots you start with.
Trust me it's worse then Twilight Princess. TP Doesn't open up a whole menu and add to the counter when you restart the game. And it's just Rupees. And Before you call me a Skyward Sword hater, I absolutely ADORE Skyward Sword and I think it's a top 7 Zelda game. (Although I enjoy Twilight Princess a bit more)
Honestly TP felt more like a slap in the face than SS specifically because it would re-explain rupees. SS definitely takes up more time but at least the explanations aren't for objects that are in *literally every Zelda game ever made*
@@atotalfiasco4213 ok, but the explanations in Skyward Sword are absolutely pointless. I don't need to know or care what these things are. At least the rupee explanations are short and they give you the useful information of reminding you how much they're worth. Pretty sure that was done so that you wouldn't forget in the event that you take an extended break from the game (consider the fact that for many people, myself included, TP was their first Zelda game). Not saying it's good, but at least it has purpose
I think the difference between SS reexplaining items and TP reexplaining rupee values is, the rupees that get reexplained are Blue (5), Yellow (10), and Red (20). It does technically do all of them, but purple and orange rupees are uncommon enough that it doesn't feel _terribly_ intrusive. In Skyward Sword, there are two 4x4 grids of items that get reexplained. Four types of rupees, counting purples. _Thirty-two_ types of items. It jumps in far more frequently. Beyond that, neat trivia as always! Still crossing my fingers for a remake...perhaps even more so than a port of TPHD at this point. (it's been less than an hour of real time since I said that in the previous video though so it's not like that's a huge statement but hey.) Thanks a bunch for the run, man. Helped me see the game beyond "It's probably good, but I'm terrible at the combat so I don't have fun when I play it." And so I move on to the next series. All the best!
Just finished this and I'm so glad Chugga did the thing I wanted to do with the redundant explanations! I would like to thank said redundant explanations for 27 extra minutes of Chugga throughout the whole playthrough.
Hi Chugga i know you probably won't see this but just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this LP. It took me a long time to get through it all but it was great. I replayed this game for the second time this year and found myself enjoying it even more than the first time I played it. I do not always have time to keep up with all your LPs but I am still really enjoying your content after maybe 5-6 years of watching your channel. I am sure I will still be watching in 2018!
22:46 yeah well most people don't play Skyward Sword for 26 minute-long sessions every time they turn on the game so they wouldn't have gotten anywhere near the amount of Redundant Explanations seen in this LP.
The fact that his cat Kirby cares so much about chuggaa is so sweet, and super adorable . I have a dog myself and I am very glad to have her as my friend, so the fact that Kirby was worried about you chuggaa is super sweet and heartwarming. Wouldn't you guys agree, and it also was very funny and cute. ;)
I have to say, regarding the redundant explanations: it is a definite problem, especially when you lay it out the way you did, but when how often it comes up is related to how many times you shut off the game, it is worth acknowledging that aspect. Also, if it were just the text box like in Twilight Princess it wouldn't be quite so bad. And in TP that was a bug from the start anyway, and one they apparently fixed in the HD rerelease. ...So it's kind of mind-boggling they did that in this game. But all the same... I can look past it, but if they ever do a remaster of this game I think they could stand to at least cut the collection screen from redundant explanations. Other than that I think I might as well mention that Hero Mode is preferred in speedruns of the game, both for the obvious reason of having cutscene skip powers and the not-so-obvious reason (at least at one point, I don't know if the route has changed since I last saw it) that double damage makes it easier to die at specific places if necessary, since deathwarping is part of the route. So that is an interesting thing to note.
This was a great series to binge watch. When you originally uploaded the first video for Skyward Sword, I was considering watching it. But at the time, I decided that I wasn't really interested in the game and that I didn't want to spend the time it would take to follow the uploads. However, after rewatching your Xenoblade let's play (again), I wanted to watch another one of your let's plays (preferably one that I hadn't seen). After looking down the list, I figured I'd give this series a shot. OH MAN, am I glad I did. Even in the slow parts of the game, your commentary made the videos interesting and kept me hooked on the series. Things like the redundant explanation counter (props on 50, 69, 150 and 151) and the sass from Link and Fi made the videos much more entertaining, and I hope you use similar ideas in the future. All in all, this was another great set of videos. You should be proud of yourself for making them! Now I just need to cry myself to sleep because I have to wait a whole day in between Partners in Time uploads ;-;
I started rewatching this play through and this got me to 100 percent the game , but then I realized at the end your progress gets reset when you do hero mode so it looks like I’ve done nothing, but it’s in my heart at least, and I don’t got time to play it again. But at least it reminded me how much I love this game. Much love chugga
Didn't notice until the bonus video, but when you go through the gate of time the gears change from spinning clockwise to counter clockwise! Such a small detail, but SO COOL!!!

Giant comment
Honestly, the rupees being re-explained doesn't bother me too much.
Redundant explanations don't bother me as long as they don't waste too much of my time. I usually just tune them out.
But when there's like 5 in the span of 20 minutes, then I get upset
Ok I have to admit I love Emile's videos his content is always enjoyable and he has a ton of knowledge about all the games he plays for the channel but Kirby stole this video for me that was way to precious
I love the scar on Demise’s forehead, Indicating where the seal was when he took the form of the Imprisoned
There was so much more to it that I completely missed.
gamespot gave it 7/10 never forget.
That's fair, this game is pretty divisive.
7 out of 10 is a good rating. 8 is great. 9 is near flawless. 10 is perfect.
oh man an above average rating ooooo sooooo bad
7/10 is really not that bad, I've never understood why it's given such a bad rep --- do games have to be 9/10 or higher? Really?
An A - is still an A.
Not as bad as IGN's review of Double Dragon Neon.
Can we just all agree that Kirby is best cat?
Interrupts a recording to make sure that his owner is alright.
If that isn't the cutest thing I've ever heard, I don't know what is...
the groose is definitely loose today
I mean
He's the thumbnail
Chugga actually uploaded a bonus video shortly after finishing an LP? What is this witch craft!
Buidalot he did that in pretty much every lp since Majora's mask. It isn't really that rare anymore.
dimentiorules it was a joke lol
On the topic of redundant explanations: One thing to keep in mind is that sine this series was 74 episodes long, chugga turned his game off and back on roughly 74 times, which triggers the items to be re-explained. I don't think most people play games in 20 minute sessions, personally I play them in several hour sessions, so the redundant explaining would be significantly reduced. With that being said, I don't think that the redundant explanations aren't a problem, I just think they are exaggerated quite a bit from this play through. Just once more to reiterate: Redundant explanations ARE a problem, they were just inflated by this play though.
He actually played in episode chunks, so it wouldn’t explain it every time, so it would be in that range
3:16 "Goddess Walls are godsends"
Okay, first of all: Ya don't say?!
Second: don't you mean "goddess-sends?"
Other miscallaneous tidbits:
- Headmaster Gaepora is not the only Skyloft resident that reacts to the disappearance of the Isle of The Goddess.
That's only two extra tidbits, but some people probably find it interesting.
only a few days and i already miss the daily chugga vids ;-;
I haven't even watched the video and I already miss Chugga's daily videos.
XiFan Ducks go binge watch one of his old lets plays. That's what I do in order to get my daily does of Chuggaaconroy. I'm currently binge watching his Okamiden lets play.
Blazing Fire - I remember doing that after his splatoon let's play
XiFan Ducks I know ;-; /﹋\_
(҂`_´)
XiFan Ducks SAAAAAME!
The legend of groose: skyward postgame
The Legend of Groose: Skyward Hair
RobDoesRips legend of pompadour: skyward doo
Was an absolute blast playing along side you for my first time on the Switch HD port, I found the beginning a bit slow like you said and my first thought was to get your play through going on the side while I did mine and I ended up loving this entire game! Any slow part or returning to the same areas was always fun with your commentary and tips, this is definitely one of my favourite Zelda’s up to this point and I think I have you to thank for it. Thank you for making my wait for Tears of the Kingdom disappear for a good week, now I’ve only got to wait until Friday. Thanks Chugga ❤
I bet you didn't know that you could use the Groosenator to fly to different areas of the surface before the sky keep comes down.
Oh cool
I know it’s been more than a year since you’ve finished Skyward Sword, but I just discovered this today. If you talk to Groose at his Grooseinator, after Demise has been resurrected (I think), he flings you to several locations without using bird statues. Apparently he sends you to all of the minigame locations.
Why would you remove 4 for the Spirit Vessels? Only 3 of them were redundant. The first one would have been new. So there were actually 217 redundant explanations.
Prescott ya
...It wouldn't be redundant if it was the first one.
Yea but there was also the tears of light making it six additional
According to Emile himself, shortly after he said that he was excluding the Spirit Vessels, he states that a redundant explanation is when the camera zooms in, it describes the item, and then goes into the pause menu to add to the counter of the material gained.
The Spirit Vessels (and by extension the Tears) do not go into the menu, so they're excluded.
Also, while he counted the individual gratitude crystals, he didn’t count the groups of 5 that are given at the end of the side quests. For each and every bunch a text box appears, you go into your menu, and it shows your new total
I just like how he was ranting for the last part of the video and then basically whispered the outro
Lol last time I was this early chugga started majoras mask
The Legend Of Groose The Phantom Groose.
Chugga ever since I discovered your channel when I was 7 it not only inspired me as a person, but also helped me. since I was a only child I had trouble interacting with children my age, but after I started to watch you I slowly learned how to not only interact with the real world but also my peers
Chugga I hope you continue to create your many years to come.
Are you gonna be playing Twilight Princess or Breath of the Wild? I hope you will! They're my favourite two Zelda games and you have yet to play both!
I REALLY WANT HIM TO PLAY BREATH OF THE WILD
Breath of the Wild is a bit recent. Twilight Princess, maybe.
i really hope he plays both of them 😭😭 they’re my favorites too!!!
If he ever plays Twilight Princess, expect me to be very active in pointing out things he misses as well as other tips and tricks.
I really want him to play it for the channel. It would make me so happy
'the sight of your appalling hair makes my _gorge_ rise'
**squeak**
**softly** kirby...
I really, really want Chugga to do a Let's Play of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky for PSP and PC. Absolutely fantastic Let's Play material, great game, and one of the most criminally underrated games on this planet.
I NEED Girahim and Fi to make actual appearances in a Zelda title again.
I think Skyward Sword has one of the best soundtracks out there.
Also, the redundant explanations are kinda ridiculous... it's not that bad...
To be fair, the redundant expla actions would've been significantly shorter if you didn't succumbed to your urge of picking up all the things every second you see them, but I digress.
Now I just want an actual episode compilation of all the redundant moments :3
...
The sad fact is that someone has probably been saving every instance and is already working on the upload if Chugga hasn't already
honestly I bet someone knew that it would be an interesting idea so they started it when they first saw it
Bossrosslp
...I finished making a compilation of all the redundant explanations....
I'm so glad they removed the redundant explanations in Skyward Sword HD. They didn't remove the redundant explanations of the random gratitude crystals you find though strangely enough.
Tis a miracle we actually got a bonus episode.
So about the others
I'm glad that the quality of these videos and your puns are exactly like the old days.
16:24 Demise: hey bro ur pretty cool 1v1 me m8
Not saying it's good, but at least it has purpose
that outtake with kirby was WELL worth the wait, thank u for including it (and please tell kirby hes a good kitty)
FINALLY a channel that made a zelda video that's NOT The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
Actually 73 because he started the 49th with BotW
@Karina Peters After Chrono trigger
All the best!
okay okay where's the real emile. we all know he never uploads his bonus videos. where are you holding him hostage
Just finished this and I'm so glad Chugga did the thing I wanted to do with the redundant explanations!
I would like to thank said redundant explanations for 27 extra minutes of Chugga throughout the whole playthrough.
so who's gonna do the montage video of every redundant explanation?
It could just not tell you what it is ever again and come back to it years later and forgotten everything.
Why is a video about the largest and smallest milipede meeting in the recommended?
Wilfred Cthulu because Chugga is weird random and funny, and so is that video?
Wilfred Cthulu I saw that video yesterday
He records back to back.
Your cat thinking you were upset and trying to make you feel better was the best thing ever.
Don't forget the holiday today is, Chugaa...
Only ProtonJon stream fans know what I'm talking about
Gamerssmash Look up ProtonJon stream chugga' slots innocence with headphones in because TRG earrape
The fact that his cat Kirby cares so much about chuggaa is so sweet, and super adorable . I have a dog myself and I am very glad to have her as my friend, so the fact that Kirby was worried about you chuggaa is super sweet and heartwarming. Wouldn't you guys agree, and it also was very funny and cute. ;)
I never noticed your stamina decreases quicker in hero mode.
WOOP! Now the let’s play really is over! I know i joined in the party late but I really enjoyed it none the less, Thank you Emile.
Finally the end, huh? Wonder what's next...
The kitty crying about you being mad is so funny and cute! It shows how close you are to your cat.
This was a great series to binge watch.
When you originally uploaded the first video for Skyward Sword, I was considering watching it. But at the time, I decided that I wasn't really interested in the game and that I didn't want to spend the time it would take to follow the uploads.
However, after rewatching your Xenoblade let's play (again), I wanted to watch another one of your let's plays (preferably one that I hadn't seen).
After looking down the list, I figured I'd give this series a shot. OH MAN, am I glad I did. Even in the slow parts of the game, your commentary made the videos interesting and kept me hooked on the series.
Things like the redundant explanation counter (props on 50, 69, 150 and 151) and the sass from Link and Fi made the videos much more entertaining, and I hope you use similar ideas in the future.
All in all, this was another great set of videos. You should be proud of yourself for making them!
Now I just need to cry myself to sleep because I have to wait a whole day in between Partners in Time uploads ;-;
of course you upload right when the Direct goes live
I started rewatching this play through and this got me to 100 percent the game , but then I realized at the end your progress gets reset when you do hero mode so it looks like I’ve done nothing, but it’s in my heart at least, and I don’t got time to play it again. But at least it reminded me how much I love this game. Much love chugga
hey everybody is waiting for that kid icarus uprising together mode and treasures that you missed
Didn't notice until the bonus video, but when you go through the gate of time the gears change from spinning clockwise to counter clockwise! Such a small detail, but SO COOL!!!
I liked this just because of Kirby XD.
Thankfully they got rid of the redundant explanations in the HD remake.
That was adorable when Kirby meowed when you were doing Demise's voice.
Bonus video...love it. I think the little clip with your cat is adorable.
