I have been feeling so depressed about the poor reception my content has been receiving. I have been spending so much time on creating and editing and scripting and all that creation jazz. Getting subs is really easy when you already got some knowledge, but when you are starting RUclips it can be really frustrating. I wanted to delete my main channel which now has over 150k subs because I was struggling so much at the start (Luckily I found out that using a bit of Famester could give me a little push in terms of subscribers. After that I was getting so much organic audience, and my channel just went off).
Erin's a smart, talented young lady. Love her energy and have learned a lot from her channel.
This is the first time, I've come across a video that has good VLOG growing content. I have been at 1k for so long

Is a vlog a separate channel that references your main YT channel to give support to it by showcasing behind the scenes activity that shows one up as "human" and therefore relatable. If that is what it is then that's my takeaway. If not, help me understand because Erin did a great job of convincing me that I need one!

My issue is the subs aren’t guaranteed to watch anymore content. I’m feeling very lost lately. I spent a week making a video and it flopped and earned €3. It’s exhausting
While it's true that subs aren't "guaranteed to watch" having more subscribers will generally lead to more views, because non-subscribers view a high subscribe count as credibility or social proof that others like your content. With that being said, creators do better when they don't get wrapped up in feeling entitled to "get views" and focus more on providing value in their content. Focus on what the viewer wants and they'll watch for their own self-interest. This is the closest you can get to guaranteeing views.
Edit: As far as the low ad income. How things start isn't always how it ends. I've had videos perform low at first, then take off later, because the content was "evergreen". It's also important to offer something for sale or monetize outside of ad revenue. I once had 400k subs and was making pretty good ad money, then RUclips cut CPM in half, literally, and I lost half my ad income with the same amount of views. Hope this helps.
Why did you do the video if you feel exhausted? It’s supposed to be just fun and simple. Not a hard and stressful task.
Make a video where you just enjoy yourself without having to make money or please people as a result.
Make another video. Look at the comments you get to see what motivates subscribers and gets them to comment. Remember although Ford created the Edsel it also has the Mustang ,, the F150 and the Bronco. Some ideas don’t work as well as others . Keep posting. Make sure your topics are useful, meaningful or entertaining. Silly and stupid work on tic tic. Some channels include bloopers that run just before or with the credits.
@@EricDegaardt He's saying that the process of taking a week to produce a video with little views and income is exhausting - which it is. Not that he felt exhausted creating the video.
With that being said, creating videos CAN be exhausting, and if you're full time, not every video will be done from the viewpoint of positivity and artistic expression. This is why creators have terms like "Burnout" and "Crunch". Regardless of your niche, this space is competitive, and exhaustion is a very real thing in this field.

I had no idea vlogging was so involved.
I need help! I have a true crime/ horror narration channel. I am doing the same thing as everyone else. How can I differentiate myself from the others? I am faceless and use b roll/ real photos from the news articles. But I don't know how to stand out. I can't think of creative ideas 😢
My retention is OK on some videos but obviously need better.
I am losing my job by June so would love to have my channel be a second source of income.

A question you never ask will never be answered
She has 392K subscribers but her last 3 videos average about 5,000 views. What am I missing here? Vanity metrics? Is it subscriber count that's growing her business or something else? Everything I've been reading lately says that views trump subscribers and so I pause when I see a high subscriber count but low views in comparison. So my biggest takeaway is something is not right here and I really would like ThinkMedia to discuss this in depth.
I’ve watched her over the years and honestly the demand for certain types of videos have changed. Beauty and fashion channels are soaring right now and I think they will for a long time.
I've heard a lot of these youtubers live off mostly from brand deals. Also subscriber count doesn't really matter.
You may have 400K subscribers, but if they are the type to have 150 subscriptions, they clearly can't follow them all with regularity ... plus their feeds get flooded with all those recommendations daily, so your releases may get lost in the mix.
But if you make quality, and find a way to get it in front of your audience (smthn like building an email list, or discord community, may help trigger views), things will click in time.
I think some valid points have already been made. My take… some RUclipsrs have been on platform for years or skyrocketed subscribers during the pandemic. It’s true subscribers don’t equate to a mass amount of views. It’s the .05-1% that do watch faithfully that matter and most likely will buy. So as example if 1% of those 5000 views per video gets her a sale it’s a win win. And as the videos continue to get watched she will get more sales over the months/years. And I’m sure she has other streams of income she has built off her brand/being an influencer ie: brand deals etc.
@@thatsjusttaraI agree! Brand deals, speaking engagements, courses. The new thing I’ve seen many big influencers are partnering with corporate businesses to help establish their social media presence.

Yeah, she grew but look at the view count. She only gets 12K max views out of them 300 plus subs. I can't stand people who sub to the channel but don't watch what is the point.

So basically you are making videos that tell people how to get more subs AND everyone wants more subs, so of course they are clicking on your videos and subscribing because they THINK (MediaTV) (see what I did there?) they are going to get more subscribers. So if everyone made videos on how to get more subscribers, they would get more subscribers... Make sense?
What I do on my channel is provide content without clickbait and without misleading thumbnails because I have integrity and I am NOT trying to get subs to monetize my channel. I AM trying to get subs to engage with a community of people who are genuinely interested in the subjects that actually need light shined on them. I am trying to learn as much as I am trying to help. Make sense?
I'm not pretty, I don't have all the toys such as great lighting and microphones and multi camera angles. I'm not slick. Talk about "Think", that is exactly what I am trying to do with my channel, make people THINK! Make sense?
What are you doing with your money? What are you doing with your time? When are you going to focus on making yourself happy? When are you going to stop following the trends in the media and BLAZE YOUR OWN TRAIL? Make sense?
We are here for a limited time, life is short, what are you doing with the time you have left? All of these RUclips stars are boasting about all of their subs and all of the money they are making. They are waving it in your face!!! They spend every waking hour trying to figure out how to build their little RUclips empire in to a channel FILLED WITH SUBSCRIBERS! Endless hours of scheming and planning and editing. What I want you do is get out there in the real world, show compassion to your fellow earthlings, tread lightly and stop being so absorbed in the MEDIA!!! Make sense?
Come see what my channel has to offer, if you subscribe, that's great if not that's great too. Now I am done with my rant, I'm going to go outside and chop some firewood and then pay some bills and get some groceries. But I guess that's what people are supposed to do right? Makes sense!
