This resonates so much with my experience. In other video's Robert has said things like "you don't HAVE to break up". One thing my brain is sort of struggling with right now is thinking "well so does the fact that I have ROCD-thoughts mean you can/should never break up then?" Obviously, rationally, I know that isn't the case. But my brain is getting stuck between opposing fears: fear of staying in the relationship ("what if it's the wrong relationship?" "I don't want to lead my partner on") and fear of leaving the relationship ("what if leaving is a mistake?" "What if I regret it?" "What if I never find someone as good again?" "How can I possibly hurt my partner so much by leaving her?").

You are not alone. I have these exact same thoughts. I don’t quite know how to deal with them but I just wanted to reach out and say you are not alone.

    Hey guys and ocd recovery,
Been recovering slowly from real event ocd bit by bit, Keep reminding myself each day not to fight the memory and let it pass and be at peace with it, still learning to live with it.. it’s not as bad as it was last year but yeah still happens, only problem is how it locks on and stays for abit is a horrible feeling but yeah so far so good hope everyone is having good days recovering 😁 please make more on teaching our brains not to lock on so much 🔥🔥 peace

The more we work on unconditional acceptance the less things we fear to the point where it locks on. This is because the core fears fuelling several ocd themes are pretty similar

Another great video! Thank you for going into the details of how to tackle some of the difficutlies involved in Relationship OCD, very helpful. It would also be very helpful if there was someone who has been through Contamination OCD and the fear of being responsible for spreading germs, etc to other people, especially loved ones, who can explain how to tackle this in similar detail as done in this video.

But thank you! I will definitely try it makes me afraid though because I don’t want to actually leave and I’m afraid it’ll make me want to leave my relationship

Hey guys suffering from real event ocd? Best thing I’ve helped me with is telling yourself that the thought/memory helps balances you out instead of throwing you off.. it will get to a point where you get calm and want the thought coming in
