CRISPY FRIED WHOLE TILAPIA | DELICIOUS FRIED WHOLE FISH

  • Crispy fried whole fish is delicious with ugali, sukuma wiki and kachumabari.This traditional Kenyan dish comes togethr easily , all you need for the fish is to make a simple spice rub for the fish.
    INGREDIENTS
    1 Whole Tilapia about 1.25 lbs (600 grams) scaled, gutted and cleaned
    Spice Rub
    1 Tbs Cumin coriander powder
    1 Tsp Chili powder
    1 tsp Garlic powder
    1 Tsp Onion powder
    1/2 Tsp Ginger powder
    1 Tsp Paprika
    1/2 Tsp Black pepper, ground
    1 Tsp Kosher salt
    1 Tbs Corn starch
    Kachumbari ( Sauce )
    1 Tsp vegetable oil
    1 Ripe tomato, sliced
    Half red onion ,sliced
    1 scallion, chopped
    1 Small chili , chopped
    1/4 cup Cilantro, chopped
    1 Tsp Garlic, minced
    1/2 Tsp Ginger, minced
    1 Lemon zest and juice
    1/4 cup Extra virgin olive oil
    Salt and pepper to taste

    I am Alaskan so I have eaten plenty of fish, but made this last night and it is now my favorite fish recipe! I loved the crispy skin perfectly seasoned and thought I wouldn't like the kachumbari cooked but WOW. It's perfect for this dish. Bless you.for sharing it!

    Lol I love the african measurements - teaspoon (more then that) add a splash of water (adds half a cup) 😂😂😂

    I always loved Tilapia but stopped eating it several years ago with all the baf press it was getting. Yours look mouthwatering.

      Tilapia is very common in tropics and readily available ,not popular where there's abundance of other fish sources. You can use red snapper for the same recipe or even bass.

    You have a weird way of cooking ugali in Kenya here in Zambia you can't prepare it like that ugali is not properly done ✅
