- Welcome (Bienvenidos) to Neil’s Spanish Fly Box, where we take a look at some of the flies used in Spain and elsewhere.
¿Hola, que tal? En principio, este es un video diseñado para pescadores que entienden inglés, pero por supuesto, ¡cualquiera puede verlos! Si eres un pescador de habla hispana y te gustaría comentar en español, te responderé en español. ¡No seas tímido!
Learn about some new (some, not so new) and interesting fly patterns, that can be found in every Spanish fly fisherman’s armoury, including some ‘must haves’! Real flies for real fly fishers.
I have fly fished in Spanish competitions for over a decade, on rivers and still water, learning a great deal about the Spanish way of fishing and the flies that
are used.

Hello Brian, how wonderful to hear from you! I am well thank you. Thank you also for your Father’s Day greeting, which I reciprocate of course. I think that at any time during the season, when the wind rustles the trees, there’s an opportunity to use terrestrials. You are too generous with your praise - I am pleased that you find the patterns worthy of a turn in your vice. Thank you for being part of the Community. Stay safe and well.👌
Good looking beetle Neil gotta try it 😊
Hello Burton, nice to hear from you. It’s a simple, but effective pattern and just a little different to the standard Coch-y-Bonduu. Do give it a go.😉
What a nice manageable fly. Going to take a run at it. Thanks
Hello, how are you? Yes, a fairly simple tying of a well known fly, which can also be tied as a wet fly. Do have a go at it and let me know how you get on.👍
@@neilsspanishflybox the second iteration turned out well. Thanks
@@chili1593 👏🏻 Well done! Now it’s all down to time and place.👍
Gotta tie this one!! Lost a very nice trout today.
Hello Bob, clearly your shoulder has recovered and you are back in the saddle! This is a very easy tying, but is a great beetle pattern. Sorry to hear that you lost a good fish today - at least you know that it is still there to be caught on a future visit!😉
Variations on classics warm my old heart. I do have a question. Why do the Welsh feel they have to use the entire alphabet in all their words? LOL.
Hello Michael, how’s the recuperation/rehabilitation going? Well I hope. It’s a great variation and will serve well for a beetle imitation. In answer to your question, “Does gen i ddim syniad o gwbl!”.😊
@@neilsspanishflybox lol. Don’t tell me you’re Welsh? Yes it’s usually my dropper in small mountain Brook trout streams where their diet is mainly beetles.
@@ross1458 😂 No, I am not Welsh, but I lived in the City of Cardiff for 10 years, which also qualified me to fish internationally for Wales. A lovely city, grand folk and many wonderful memories.🏴
