  • Welcome (Bienvenidos) to Neil’s Spanish Fly Box, where we take a look at some of the flies used in Spain and elsewhere.
    ¿Hola, que tal? En principio, este es un video diseñado para pescadores que entienden inglés, pero por supuesto, ¡cualquiera puede verlos! Si eres un pescador de habla hispana y te gustaría comentar en español, te responderé en español. ¡No seas tímido!
    Learn about some new (some, not so new) and interesting fly patterns, that can be found in every Spanish fly fisherman’s armoury, including some ‘must haves’! Real flies for real fly fishers.
    I have fly fished in Spanish competitions for over a decade, on rivers and still water, learning a great deal about the Spanish way of fishing and the flies that
    are used.

    Hola! Gracias por este video. Vivo en el sur de Chile y hace unos pocos meses estoy montando mis propias moscas, por lo que agradezco el trabajo de pescadores experimentados como tú, que comparten su experiencia y conocimientos. Abrazo!

      ¿Hola, cómo estás? Gracias por tu comentario tan generoso. ¡Me alegra que hayas empezado a montar tus propias moscas! Para mi es una parte importante de la pesca y la satisfacción que tienes cuando enganchas una trucha con tu propia mosca y la pones en tu sacadera, es una sensación que quieres repetir!! Es un placer conocerte y si crees que puedo ayudarte en algo, por favor contáctame. Un abrazo y saludos desde España.😉

    Hi Neil; Thanks for posting; efficient and inventive use of the Maribou. Two questions regarding the Jig Hook ... Did you use a Heavy Wire Jig Hook or a Light Wire? Could Either Be Used? 👍

    • @neilsspanishflybox
      @neilsspanishflybox  6 месяцев назад

      Hi there! Thank you for your generous comment. I did not use a light wire jig hook, but I believe that either could be used. If you regularly encounter very large trout, I would encourage a heavy wire hook though. Have you experienced your hooks ‘opening’ on fish and thus concerned about the hook? To be honest, it rarely happens, so if you have had it happen more than once, you either have a bad batch or you should change your brand. 😉 Tight lines.🎣

    How would you classify this as an attractor pattern? tight lines🐛🐞🐜!!!!!

    • @neilsspanishflybox

      Hello Robert, good to hear from you. Not sure whether you are asking me how I would classify this or would I classify it as an attractor pattern. For me, this is a point fly if you fish it as a nymph, but if you are fishing downstream it could be either point or dropper with another similar fly. I feel that an attractor pattern when nymphing is something on the dropper to attract the trout’s attention and it will take the point fly coming behind - that’s not to say that it won’t take fish in its own right! Best of both worlds eh?😊

    Hi Neil, how do you detect the take? Do you feel it like with a wet fly. Do you set the Hook?

    • @neilsspanishflybox
      @neilsspanishflybox  6 месяцев назад

      Hello there, good to hear from you. If you are fishing this fly downstream, you will feel the take as you would with a streamer or wet fly. Fishing downstream will generally attract an aggressive take as the fish attacks the fly. Fishing it though the swim like a nymph, use whichever tactic for bite indication that you would normally use. Whilst fishing it this way, the bites can be a little more delicate and you may have to set the hook, but whatever bite detection method you usually use, will serve. In my experience, the bites can be equally aggressive.😬

      😂 Hello Hunter, thank you for your comment and it will be a great way to use up your wire. Ordering multiple sizes and multiple colours…..you are absolutely correct, in that it will require breaking into your piggy bank!! I hope that the fly proves successful for you.🎣
