I loved Korpisalo on the Kings. They left him out to dry a lot and had a rebound issue, but when it came to saving shots in more team oriented play, he was solid. Now hes in the motherland of goalies and I think he can be a great secondary goalie.
Yeah I'm sure it was a great 11 regular season games and 6 playoff games but that's what it was 17 games. Dudes got 275+ starts under his belt. That's barely a sniff of a sample size.

No Ottawa's d didn't let down the goaltending it was the other way around. Korisalo had what 3 good years out of 8 in Columbus? Guys got a lot more bad years than good under his belt. Nobody disrespected Sway. I used to wonder if his jersey # 1 is because he thinks he's literally number one. I never thought in my wildest dreams that Swayman would choose #1 because he has an ego problem. But now, I'm starting to think our happy-go-lucky goalie hero may actually have psychological problems and a complex. This whole situation is pissing me off and I am losing interest in watching the team this year. I had SO MUCH hope and positivity for this coming year. The wonderful feeling that Ullmark can now go to a new home with his own team. I'm sure we are all really happy for Ullmark. I could have cried seeing Ullmark sat on the bench for the entire playoff's. Ullmark is an incredible person, and goalie All these amazing young players, Elias Lindholm, Matt Poitras, Nikita Zadorov, Korpisalo for backup, a healthy Marchand, and all the other fantastic young guys.. Fabian Lysell, Justin Brazzeau, etc etc, and a first round pick. We traded Ullmark FOR Swayman so we could pay Swayman more. What are people talking about?! Imagine applying for a good job somewhere, asking for a 300% salary raise, and your boss says, ''We can get close to $300,000.00, and we will have to fire your colleague so that we can pay you a 280% raise, and we are willing to do that for YOU, because we all like you and we all want to work with you. We have $290,000.00 for you, welcome, here's your new office.'' But then you turn around and look at the boss and say, ''Well I want $300K not $290k. I'm trying to keep food on the table! I can feed my family with $300K, but we will all starve and die if we get $290K.'' Then you start going around telling people that you were so insulted that they couldn't pay you an extra 3.3%, and saying it's not fair, and that you are being disrespected and insulted. Sorry, but I can even afford to save any money whatsoever and I'm still going in more debt, and I am not living above my means. I live frugally and I am smart with my money, and I work 50-60 hours a week, and I still worry about making sure I keep a roof over my head and food on the table. We (the fans) treated Swayman like our own child. We had that man's back to the gates of hell. We cheered him off the ice after the 3rd straight year of losing a playoff elimination game. I think he let our fanfare get to his head. How many people will make 64 million in 50 lifetimes?? He will retire before he hits 40 with $100 million+ in earnings. I can't deal with this bullshit! I think I'll be cheering for another team this year and pray that next year this team will not make me feel like jumping from the New Hampshire / Maine I-95 bridge.
Its all over now, I hope it does not end up being a contract the does not age well. People forget that Swaymans agent did not tell Nylander what the actual offer was until he actually talked to the GM
It would have created more cap certainty this year for sure. And they'd have been able to spend and not have a bunch of cap just hanging out waiting to get used. But aside from that it wouldn't have changed much. They wanted a first this year. So they probably still would have moved Ullmark to make that happen. They'd probably still have gotten the bad deal they did for him. The only difference is maybe instead of Zadarov they might have taken a bigger swing at d and tried to get a Brady Skjei or something and that still might not have happened. They clearly decided to get heavier this off season they still might have targeted Zadarov and Lindholm almost exclusively.
As a fan who don't particularly like Bruins, I don't feel sorry for Bruins one bit. Yes, cap reasons were why Ullmark was traded but you cannot trade the goalie you have contracted until the other goaltender, your future starter no less, is signed and done. It's common sense. Even armchair GMs know this! Bruins front office fumbled the ball.
Bruins management have themselves to blame for this fiasco. Anyone would fight for what they believe their worth is. The Bruins grossly overpaid for Lindholm and Zadorov so what makes Swayman any different? I get the feeling that he wants out of Boston and will play for 64 mil somewhere else.

I’m going to disagree with you on this one, Cap. For the functional purpose of “superstar” as it pertains to how the front office will be perceived by other above-average players. Swayman is one of the two or three Bruins other players around the league really key in on. For this to play out like this with the reputation he has, it’s a HUGE black eye for the Bruins FO. They might struggle to sign better players who watch this public relations nightmare and choose to go elsewhere.
If 8x8 isn't enough for him, let him sit. Kill his value and accept the loss. At some point you gotta make the hard choice and drop the selfish players that only care about their paychecks
They are unlikely to let him sit because it would kill his value. He's still an asset. If he's not going to play for you likely you flip him. Biting off your nose to spite your face isn't a winning strategy. Not using an asset to make a point isn't good business.
