Like I said last week after Carolina, Pasta turns the puck over 95% of the time he gets possession of the puck in the neutral zone. I'm sorry... Pasta makes $140,000.00 per one hour game. If I want to criticize him, I am going to criticize him. We have the right to do so. Pastrnak works for US - the Bruins fans. WE pay his salary. I played hockey, and I was never stupid enough to try to deke around the entire opposing team. If I carried the puck across the blue line and I was double-teamed or drew multiple players, that automatically means at least one of my teammates is wide open, and that's where I sent the puck. What I DID NOT DO was hog the puck and ignore the rest of my team. If you do that in a school team, you get yelled at, and you get sent to the bench - because that's bad hockey! A few players CAN actually deke around the other team, but Pasta IS NOT one of them! It NEVER WORKS, but he keeps doing it! He is not a good puck handler. He is not an exceptional skater. Yet he tries to dangle and deke around entire teams almost every time he gets possession in the neutral zone. There is no other player in the NHL that has done this for years and stayed on a team. What they should do, is tell him to stay in Boston and learn how to play hockey during the next road trip. I'm not saying I can do better - I'm almost 40 years old and I stopped playing hockey after I graduated high school, and I'm not an athlete, but I have a brain and If I had the fitness level of Pastrnak, I wouldn't play like a freaking jackass. Not only that, but Monty makes it worse by changing the lines every day, and if a player is not comfortable with his line, he is more likely to hold the puck. These are issues that compound on each other, and it's the coach's job to guide the players through it. Monty has finally addressed this by keeping the lines together, then benching Pasta. Good. I would also make Zacha stay behind and I would make him stay in the Warrior arena for 18 hours a day and just shoot pucks on the net all day, every day until he can shoot the puck like an NHL caliber player. These are some of the basic issues that hold this team back in the playoffs.
