haha Hi Justine, It was made by a French maker around the year 2000 to celebrate 20th century music. It is designed to compliment modern music. :-) Maybe we should do a video on it?
@@sydneystringcentre I didn't expect to get a reply😁. Thank you. A video demonstration on how it sounds like would be really interesting not just for me, but also for those who may have noticed it.
Thank you for teaching us about Cellos. My son plays the cello for four years, so I would like to know which cello I can get for a transition, he want to continue playing and who know he may keep it for much longer. I am not familiar with the names you just mentioned or how to spell the names correctly. If you see this message, would you please answer me? Thank you
Hi there! Glad you liked the video and thanks for your comment. All of these cellos are our' home' brands, which means some of the the models are exclusive to our store. You may find a couple of them in stores around Australia as well, however they won't be available outside Australia. If your son is doing grade 4 pieces and about to go onto a 4/4 (full size) cello, if your budget allows we would recommend the Schroeder 100 cello. This cello would be a great option for the next few years of playing. Once he reaches a 7th grade level, if he's playing competitively and doing a lot of performance we would suggest upgrading. If he is still on a fractional size then a Schroeder 30J would be perfectly fine, and you could reassess when he's ready for a 4/4 cello. If you feel he is only ever going to play for leisure and not take exams too seriously then any of these instruments would be fine! 🙂 If you aren't in Australia, we would suggest going to a store that specialises in string instruments. They will be able to guide you through their own selection of instruments and your son can have a play to see which cello he likes the sound of. Just make sure that the cello has been setup by a trained Luthier and that your teacher is happy with the brands and store you chose as well. Good luck!
Brushing my teeth while watching this video, I realized my Sonicare toothbrush vibrates right about a C. Also, that 3rd one sounds really good to this beginner. I wish I lived nearby.
Hi Keith, yes a 4/4 cello should be fine for you :-) Doug in the video would be about the same height as you and he’s playing on 4/4 cellos. Always best to get sized up in person though so that the shop assistant can have a look at arm length and hand size as well. :-)
Eu gostaria de ouvir o som daquele violoncelo que parece um manequim logo atrás na parede, à sua direita... I wish to hear that cello back you that seems like a manequim body... 😀😀😀
Hi Daniel, are you referring to the cello behind Doug? If so, It was made by a French maker around the year 2000 to celebrate 20th century music. It is designed to compliment modern music. :-)
Hi Taylore, they all have the same strings (Larsen regular A & D with Larsen Crown G & C) except for the Schroeder 100 which has a full set of regular larsen strings :-)
The idea you NEED an expensive cello with Larson strings at level 4 or any level for that matter is laughable, slightly ridiculous and totally misleading
The template for all presentations...this is how I wish all the others shops did it, structured and so easily understandable. Thanks.
Thanks so much for your lovely comment! 🙂

That sacreligious looking cello chilling in the background tho..

Do a video on it!
Yeah that looks dodgy! 😬😬😬😬😬
it's "Art2000" by Roger Lanne, french maker in Paris 12°, my ancient teacher Barbara Marcinkowska recorded a cd with this cello ;-)
This was very helpful thank you! Bought my first cello in your shop today :) went for the 30J
Great to hear Sammy!
I need that Mona Lisa with a cello in the back
haha. That picture was made by one of our staff members :-) they took a photo of their own cello and photoshopped it in with Mona!

When the Jacquot 100T plays, the high-pitched overtones have a moment of silence for it's beauty
I liked this best of the 4, actually the G string sounds really lovely

Kreisler #130 Cello Outfit full size is sold out on your website. I've dropped you guys an email.
Great comparison! The sounds are quite good
What does the model numbers mean? Just curious:)

I've been in that room before
thank you so much
hi my height is 5ft and 5 inches, is cello 4/4 good for me?

I would love to know more about that unique cello! 😄🎻
Anyone realize the bass bow
Thx for mentioning it
All same strings? Hate when they're not same, hard to tell differences regardless if all Larsen's,
Hi Taylore, they all have the same strings (Larsen regular A & D with Larsen Crown G & C) except for the Schroeder 100 which has a full set of regular larsen strings :-)
Is the Kreisler a 4/4?
Hi Dan, yep all the cellos in the video are 4/4. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask! :-)
Sounds like he is playing a Hymn. Forgot the name :)
Hail the Conquering Hero
I didn't know Ethan from H3H3 sells cellos...
There are hardly any cellos that sound really bad, but still these cellos can't really convince...
The idea you NEED an expensive cello with Larson strings at level 4 or any level for that matter is laughable, slightly ridiculous and totally misleading
Any good artist can play on a cheap cello and it sounds great, but nevertheless there is a big difference between cheap and advanced cellos!
