Facts. Moon child is the best song on mono. PERIOD. Nobody can change my mind. Something about it. It just sounds so legendary.
the funny thing here is that RM actually said that he made this playlist to listen to it when he walked out since he likes walking around seoul he wanted to make songs can be listened while walking 😊💕

Yeah! RM's intellectual level is really high, for sure. He was a regular guest of a TV quiz show in South Korea where guests were to solve difficult problems like IQ test for MENSA. I didn't know him that much at that time, let alone the group BTS. But many Koreans, including me, started to remember him since then - his intelligence and brightness were really impressive and shone among all the other smart guests. Still, none of us expected how his intelligence was gonna relate to his deep introspective lyrics and philosophy in BTS's music. The producer Bang (their label's CEO) once told in an interview that he had felt obliged to do something for such a genius young man, right after meeting him in person. And actually, it became the starting point of BTS.

The phone call I have been told is somebody saying they are at the Han river in Seoul and they are going now, a lot of people commit suicide by jumping in the river - very deep stuff
so han at the end means sadness??? I feel I does somehow.
Han is the name of the river, RM could well be using it as a metaphor for sadness - it ties in well with the love / hate relationship for the city
Dark Fairy yes tho "Han" is "melancholy" or "extreme sadness & pain" to be specific iirc KDramas have lots of Han. BTS song "Spring Day" as well.
The opposite of Han is "Heung" which means "Fun" hence "Heungtan Sonyeondan" (Boyz with Fun), one of BTS's more fun songs.

What I really noticed about this playlist/mixtape is that RM has gotten better at creating melodies. I think this is something he said he struggled with in the past. He's always been a beautiful lyricist, however, he said he sometimes he can't quite put the words to a grounded beat/melody and that he envied Suga's ability to create melodies/beats quickly.
This entire work is so special. It's been months since he's released it, and I'm still not over it. Just when I think I have a favorite song, another one comes in. I think 'Forever Rain' will always hold a place in my heart, however, all the other songs are just so, so strong. What I like even more is that he put a lot of work into making the songs sound the best when listened to in order. So many artists just release singles because of how the listening culture is changing toward streaming and any other songs in the album are filler, however, that he put so much thought into each song and the order is amazing.

I loved the reaction! As always on point. 😄 About the lyrics, actually RM is from a small town called Ilsan, but he's been living in Seoul since he was really young. So that's why he says that Seoul doesn't feel like home because he doesn't have many memories there (like childhood memories), but also it does feel like home 'cuz that's his, or has been his new home for a long time now. He has contradictory feelings about Seoul because even if he loves the city, he's still a small town kid at the end of the day. Loved the video!!! 💜

I absolutely love your insight. The whole album flows like you said Tokyo starts you off and then the next songs progress. I think that’s why he chose to call it a Playlist rather than a mixtape. I’m so proud of him and this album has been amazing and fits perfectly with this autumn weather.

I love this mixtape/playlist and I love your reactions! When you know RM's hometown is Ilsan and not Seoul, this song takes on a whole 'nother meaning. He moved there to pursue his work/career and now has to acknowledge that it's his home and that he has already become a part of it and has come to love it despite it's imperfections.

I'm so glad you liked it. Really. This playlist is a little gem, I honestly can't wait for you to react to "Moonchild" which is my personal favourite along with "Everythingoes". RM is a great rapper, singer and producer, I couldn't believe it when I heard him sing in these songs. It's so unique. Also the production is so different from his previous mixtape (he released it in 2015) and you can actually tell the difference. I think the production of the songs also enhances the growth he's been through, not only the lyrics and the composition. Thank you for this reaction, I love how you actually teach us something that makes the songs even more appealing to our ears. Personally now I can detect each sound just by listening to you talking about instruments and different beats. Can't wait for more! Nato Nation unites!

I never thought about the sequential connection of Tokyo and Seoul in the playlist. Tokyo being that drowsy, groggy, just-woke-up vibe, while Seoul is bright, awake, and calm like the later morning. Such an awesome observation.

I am from Seoul and living in Seoul. Have lived in US and Canada for 10yrs away from hometown Seoul. So I can relate to this song deeply. You like to live in Seoul because it is the most advanced place in Korea. But also there is big ugliness in this city in terms of disparity, competitiveness, and loneliness, like any other big cities in the world. However, after a while, you realize there has been something beautiful inside because there were people just like me, who tried to become someone special and meet someone special. I can feel that RM is talking about that sentiment. I used to live in the area where the mountain and nature were close to my house and friends were poor, and also lived in the most prosperous area where friends were too competitive. People were so different even though they were from the same city. RM used to live in Seoul, and also lived in suburb town Ilsan, less prosperous area. So RM likes Seoul and hates Seoul just like me. He saw the problem of Seoul and the ugliness of Seoul. but When he is away from Seoul just like when I was away from it, he misses it because he just knows this city so well. You can deal with it because you know it. That is home just like you said. RM is really good at depicting a very subtle sentiment in his music.

The best part of Seoul for me is after the half time part he comes back in with the chorus but it's a more mellow version and he's almost whispering, and if you listen really carefully you can hear him saying the lyrics in his lowest vocal register to the point where it's like instead of having a bass at that part his voice becomes the bass going under the melody he sings at the usual pitch UGH A BOP AND A HALF
Through this song he proves that he is not only a rapmonster he can do vocals
