Last time I went camping I made biscuits, fried up some country ham and made red eye gravy (which also included coffee in the ingredients.) That was back in October and it was already good and cold up in the Tellico Mountains here in Tennessee. I am not always a big 'breakfast food' person but when you are in the outdoors and it is coolish or cold a good breakfast tastes mighty fine! It also occurred to me that if you take the leftovers of your gravy (if there are any) and add a can or two of beans, some cumin and/or chili powder and a little bit (or a lot) of crushed red pepper or cut up chile peppers and kept it on a simmer for a few hours then you'd have a pretty good chili for lunch, as well.
You gave away one of my gravy secrets I always add a little instant coffee to my beef gravy for flavour and colour. My grand mother taught me that trick.
Very fine my good sir! Very fine! There's nothing beats food cooked over a fire. Unless it's bacon cooked over a fire. With a mess of biscuits! Always a pleasure to see you Donny. Be well my friend Craig
Makes me wanna go camping. It's been far too long. I remember the reunions me and my sisters and brothers used to have, camping with our families by the lake. I'd make sausage gravy over the fire in a huge kettle, and biscuits and pancakes by the fire. Cooked for the whole gang of about 40 people at once. Teenagers coming in on canoes, hungry as bears... Man, what I wouldn't give to do that again!
Hot dang! That looked mighty fine my friend! What an interesting combo. Biscuits and gravy isn't common up here in the great white north but it will be at my campfire soon enough! I love seeing you guys in tee shirts, makes me miss my southern friends! Jay ain't no dummy, when asked if he wanted to join master campfire chef Pavolini for a fire side creation he knew what he was signing up for 😁 🤘
You had the ingredients for a roux. Corn starch works though. Looks yummy. Been wanting to make that on the trail. Totally agree it's a great fall or winter food. Thanks for sharing!
I wouldn't pass up woods time and food either! At first i was thinking what in the world kind of gravy is that, but it sure did look pretty darn good though, thanks for the idear! Have a good'nnnn
Boy Donny, that looks mighty good! I guess "gravy" has a very wide interpretation or meaning. I know in New York and Philly, it means something totally different. I think I would almost call the gravy you made , chili w/o the beans. That's just me. Looks Dang Good! Thanks for sharing.
+Absorbed Self Reliance You would have to bring that up, you sorry S.o. B.!!! Lol Yeah brother, Karma's a bitch and paybacks are hell! Lol!!! Yep, I'm gonna start a Mike Ware burnt biscuit club!😂
Hot dang Donny, I need somebody's mama to slap!...lol. Talk about adventure food! The only thing I can see to add to that dish is Me and another plate...lol.
I make a barbeque roll with the hot sausage in the middle incased in hamburger that's got onions tomatoes and mushrooms mixed it wrapped in bacon thin incased in a loaf of biscuit doe and baked. guessing it would taste a lot alike but your way would be a lot faster :P

+Country Prepper Thank you brother! Give her a try, you won't be sorry!
now im gonna have to drive from kansas city down to Mississippi for some of that biscuits and gravy!!!!!
If you mix the cornstarch into a little water before adding it to the boiling liquid, it will thicken a lot better, and won't get lumpy.
That was an inspiration, but I will have to make one or two slight adjustments. Great idea all the way around.
Liked and subbed just for the title! Good stuff.
