Hi Tania, I am about to start NP school in Ontario this fall.
Did you find that you were able to work while going to school? Would appreciate if you can share your experience as I am debating leaving my job prior to school starts or negotiating with employer to for a part time role (i.e. 1 or 2 days a week).

It really depends. I was working casually, so I got to pick my shifts. I don't have kids and only have to pay for rent and food. I saved up 2 years before even starting NP school so I had savings to live off of. But other students I've met needed to continue working because they had a mortgage to pay and kids to feed. Some of them had supportive husbands so they didn't have to work as much. Depending on your situation, I would stay PT and see how it goes during the first couple of months. It also depends if you're doing the program FT or PT. It also depends on your study habits. Hard to answer that question because it's so unique to each person. Hope that helps and thanks for watching ☺

Hi! Yes you do need to prove that you have some type of working knowledge with diabetes. For example, I said that as a nurse working on a medicine floor, I had experience working with diabetic emergencies like DKA, HHS and also managed insulin on a day-to-day basis. Everyone's experience is different but as long as you have some knowledge of diabetes you should be okay. I made a video explaining the process of applying for the CDE and studying for the exam. Hope it helps 😀
