NP Student Chronicles
Канада
Добавлен 31 янв 2021
Hi my name is Tania and I am a Registered Nurse living and studying in Ontario Canada. I am currently going to school full-time to pursue my dream of becoming a Primary Health Nurse Practitioner. The purpose of this channel is to provide some insight as to what it's like to be an NP student in Ontario during a pandemic. I found there was a lack of NP students from Canada on RUclips so I decided to fill that void. I hope to inspire the next generation of NP students and provide some practical schooling tips along the way! I also have an Instagram and TikTok page for more information. Hope to hear about your stories as well xoxo.

Here are the questions and answers that I submitted for my NP application. I have gotten a lot of requests for it, and I finally made a video! It's a long video but hopefully you get some useful tips from it 😊📚. I had to submit 2 sets of essay questions for my application. 3 answers for the "letter of intent/narrative statements" and 4 answers for the "essay" questions. ⏲️ TIMECODES 0:00 - intr...
How expensive is the NP program💰 🇨🇦 2020-2022 tuition

I have been waiting so long to do this video! I am finishing up my last year of the NP program and I can finally calculate the grand total of how much I payed for the NP program. Keep in mind that it may not be a true reflection of the fees because some were dropped due to the pandemic. Also, the dollar amount is in Canadian dollars. The fees are for a fulltime student. Hope this helps you plan...
Nurse Practitioner School Questions + Answers📚🇨🇦

I'm back answering your most frequently asked questions about the NP program in Ontario (in my kitchen 😅). I've been away for a bit because school has been busy. I'm almost done the program (only 1.5 semesters to go) so I thought I would take the time to make this video. Just a reminder that I'm not an academic advisor. I am speaking from my own personal experience. Everyone's journey is differ...
How to Write a Prescription as a Nurse Practitioner in Ontario 💊
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.2 года назад
Hey guys! I've been doing prescriptions during clinical and in class so I thought I would share the basics of writing a prescription. There are 8 elements needed on all prescriptions that are written by an NP. All of the information is based on the CNO NP Practice Standards. I included 3 rx examples so it makes more sense 😀 ⏲️ TIMECODES 0:44 - CNO prescription requirements 2:48 - What NPs canno...
Nursing Job Interview Questions + Answers │Med Surg edition

These are some of the questions that I remember from my own nursing job experiences as a general medicine nurse and how I answered them. I have divided the questions into personal and medical questions - timecodes down below. One question that I forgot to mention is "Where do you see yourself in 5 years". I find this question is to see if you would be a long term employee in the organization. H...
How I Got a 95% on the Head to Toe Assessment ● Nurse Practitioner School
Просмотров 16 тыс.3 года назад
Here is how I was able to successfully pass my head to toe assessment. Passing the head to toe was mandatory before starting AHAD in the first semester. A pass is 70% and up so the pressure was on. I don't talk about a complete head to toe assessment but the general principles of it as an NP student. I also provide some tips that helped me a lot in preparing for this exam. QUESTIONS? REQUESTS? ...

Here is a short vlog of my typical day as a diabetes educator. It's quite different from working 12hr shifts in the hospital on the medicine floor. My role consists of consulting patients on the floors, gestational clinic phone appointments, gestational zoom classes, and following up with type 1 and type 2 diabetes patients. We work closely with 4 endocrinologists. I also work with another diab...

This is how I got into the Nurse Practitioner Program in Ontario. This information is for Canadian RN students (I am not sure what the application requirements are for international students). Keep in mind that not every application is the same and not every university is the same. Every school is looking for something different. Everyone's experience as a nurse is valuable and one type of nurs...

Useful , but what was the type of questions in written exam?
Hi Tania, Can u apply in OSAP with the NP program? I've read Post Graduate level is eligible but I am just not sure with the NP program in particular.
Waikiki is the place to be! 🤙👏
Our lowest passing grade for any nursing program is 80%. Anything less is failing.
I have the utmost respect and gratitude for you! Thank you for sharing! If I may ask, what college are you attending? It sounds alot like mine. I have a year left in my program and find videos like yours so helpful. I also create my own document, categorized and with appropriate assessment criteria and questions to ask. Thank you, again. 🙏🏻 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi Tania :) im in NP school now! How are you finding being a new NP in practice? Do you have support from physicians?
Fantastic
Thank you very much for sharing this!! It is really helpful..
Can you post your script. How you put together.?
I thought SOB (difficulty breathing) before chest pain?
Very good video. Thank you
I have had a couple of questions regarding the scope of practice of Nurse Practitioners, I always get mixed answers and nothing seems to be concrete. 1. Are Nurse practitioners allowed to prescribe all medications or are there any limitations in Ontario? 2. What medical procedures are they allowed to perform? 3. What is their payscale like?
Thank you for all your suggestions.
Thank you! It's so nice to see Canadian nurses doing videos like this! I've watched so many with american content & references. This was helpful!
I m appriciated for your vidio nice explain and clear vocabulary i learn more from this your Chanel thanks so much , waiting for your next performance!!!!
Hallo… can u help to find the eligibility for NP course?
Always airway and breathing before chest pain! ABCs! As soon as we hear respiratory distress, we need to intervene immediately! The chest pain can have an ekg delegated to a tech

Hi Tania, thank you for sharing your video; it's informative. What videos, websites, or links do you use to visualize body landmarks?
Hii, this is very much informative but can you please share more details about recommendation letter. Such as how long it should be or what details it should includes and etc. thank you 😊
Thank you for perfect and precise information.
Chest pain over difficulty breathing???
Hi am looking to start np as well here in Ottawa. Do you know when your notes will be available? Thanks
Hey! Good luck🤞🏻. Tbh I've been slacking off on these notes 🤦🏻♀️ hopefully I will have them ready for the fall 🍁
@@npstudentchronicles3652 when you do please let me know, am very interested. Thanks
You look so pretty.
Your so cute.
Your so pretty.
Hi i am prepare interview ....your teaching is nice .. thanks for your video
Good luck 🤞🏻😊
Actually breathing first.. A B C
Be sure to ask Tate and palate directly to the skin not through clothing. I have a friend that was failed because she didn’t do that. Not just this she failed the whole class.
Hi Tania, do they count international experience or just Canadian
Hi! I'm not sure. My training was all done in Canada. I would suggest calling the admissions office to get a clear answer
Thanks for these video! I so much appreciate you! Also, Do you think these questions would be asked for a New RPN nurse for med-surge? or its mostly for RN's
I think it's applicable to both RPNs and RNs. The only other scenario I can think of is maybe "escalating to an RN" when a patient becomes unstable and knowing to recognize when a patient is becoming unstable. But not sure cuz I wasn't trained as an RPN but from this is what I've heard and seen from my RPN colleagues
Very helpful! I’m going to a nursing job fair today involving on the spot interviews. This has helped greatly . Wish me luck 🤞🏾
Hope you did well in your interviews and landed a job. Let us know 🎉🙋🏻♀️
How was your experience at the Middle East as a nurse ?
It was really good! I experienced a different way to nurse but at the same time it somewhat similar. Too long to type out 😅but it was a good overall a good experience. I don't regret it 🙂
Hello, thank you for the tips. Are you able to share your word document?
Hi Your videos are very helpful. I am looking for this certification a long ago. I have one question I am working on an acute medical-surgical unit, I don’t know if I am eligible for getting the work experience for 800 hours of diabetes education, whom should I ask?
You can call them directly like I did and ask. I also worked on a medicine floor and I qualified 🙂
If i have one month experience of diabetes educator then it help me to get job in canada after 12
Powerful presentation
Thank you 😊
For an international student of 2 post graduation nursing program who spent roughly 20k per program, 16k-ish tf (2yrs) to become an NP is not bad. Looking forward to becoming NP😭😭
Good luck on your journey! I don't know much about international nurses but I do know it's expensive!
Hello, just found your channel love the content. Are there any certificates we can do as NP students to specialize. Ex. Peds or ICU? Or is the standard NP license valid to work on any unit in a hospital such as sickids?
I know there are some throughthe University of Toronto...but I'm not sure which ones. There might be an acute care certificate. Honestly, from what I've seen once you're an NP, your specialty comes from experience. Some hospitals require prior experience. So for Sick Kids you would need pediatric experience (could be as an RN) and same thing with ICU/emerg. But some hospitals may be open to training you. The important thing would be to get your foot in the door at an organization. You can then move around easily. Hope this helps and thanks for watching 😊
@@npstudentchronicles3652 Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me. I really appreciate it! <3

Thanks very much so informative
My pleasure 😁
Hi thanks for the video 😊 what type of RN experience did you have?
Hi! I worked in general medicine for 7 years :)
@@npstudentchronicles3652 cool thank you so much!
This is helpful, i will be having an interview next week. Im glad i get to watch this. By the way, how many scenario questions they usually ask?
Hi! In my experience usually 2-3. Maybe in more specialized roles the questions can be more than 3...for example my diabetes educator interview was like 6-7 questions haha. I was sweating buckets afterwards 🤣
Very helpful video, thank you for sharing! Do you know if this NP exam is also good for the States?
Hi! If you're talking about the NP licensing exam, the American one is valid in Ontario and the States. Hopefully that answers your question 🙂
She fine😍
Hi tanya, There are two options for canadian np board exam. One is the American one and the other is canadian one. Which one did you write? Which one is better for canadian np ? I am very interested in canadian np programs .
Hi I wrote the American one! Cheaper than the Canadian one, more options of dates (I think Canadian one is only offered twice a year) and valid in Ontario! Hope this helps
Can you do an update video of post graduation and how you’re adjusting to to your new role as an NP! Excited to hear about it
Hi! Thanks so much! I'll try to make some type of vlog. I've been meaning to do it but always get "busy" at work but I will make it a point to do it this year! Thanks for following my journey 💕
Hi Tania…as a registered nurse how can we prove that we have done diabetics education …do we need the approval from our managers or referral from managers that as a nurse she has done diabetic education in the unit ? Please reply if you can ❤
How many courses need for np (Now working as rn)
Thanks for this video. It's an eye opener
No problem 👍🏻☺️
