Vivian Reed - Full Vocal Range (A2-B♭5-D6)

- Incredible vocalist, dancer, artist and actress. One of the best in the music industry history. Unfortunately quite underrated. Classically-trained dramatic soprano who could even lighten her voice to sing coloratura repertoire. Vivian's beauty in tone, extraordinary power, and evenness of timbre from low to high is just outstanding. Projection on the lowest notes and then power and clarity on the highest notes is just not something you hear often. I hope this video is able to showcase a bit of that. But I truly recommend checking out her discography and see her live if you can. It's worth it.

those C3s are projecting LORD 😳
A complete package!! She got the vocals, looks, dance moves and her wonderful personality.
8:32 one of the most projected C3 i've ever heard
She's such a beautiful woman with a very beautiful, rich, powerful, and we'll developed instrument from top to bottom.
I've always been intrigued by her vocal skills. You did a wonderful job portraying her abilities.
Amazing video! What a wonderful vocalist! Her lower range is such a surprise, like the projection on those C3s.
Thank you for doing this. I learned about her from your previous video. Made me a fan!!!!
I needed this video👏❤
No words, amazing all around.. THX’s Kaji ♥️
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS...She's a great Dramatic Soprano
Contralto! She is a contralto.
@Kurdyukov87pianist who don't you think is a contralto?
@@Kurdyukov87pianistshe is a soprano lol
The way she overpowered those poor girls at 11:44 and then overpowered them other folk at 9:53 with just a F4. Lmaooo 😭
Free, supported range from top to bottom! Massive voice! Great tone as well. Im glad she does give advice through yt!
Vivian Reed Is a legend! Incredible talent, incredible human being
Excited she’s great!
This woman not resounds her voice and lows down position of sound. I prefer Cher.
This one’s like a documentary of her voice, I’ll have to watch this on my TV! Then I’ll leave my views. 🤩👍
1:09:59 Are you kidding me ?
That richness... no, that's the best head voice I've seen in some time !
Great work as always.
Thank you! That whole performance is incredible.
I cannot stop coming back to rewatch this video lol. Her lower range had me fooled I thought contralto or mezzo at first, that chest voice is amazing. Finally a soprano with great rich lows, not whispery where I'm still waiting to hear them hit the low notes.
Twinkie Clark is another with really great lows but a high soprano
@@reggiemitchell5198 Yes most definitely her lows are really good. My voice is way deeper than hers, but I was truly impressed by her chest voice.
This girl is a contralto.
@@Kurdyukov87pianistShe is objectively not one. In fact she sang professionally as a classical soprano…
Lisa Fischer is a high soprano with really great lows
She just became one of my favourite sopranos, her lows and belts are thicker than Nicki Minaj tf !!!!!!!
lmaoo
Omg hi! I see you everywhere now
This girl is a contralto actually.
@@Kurdyukov87pianistno she isn’t
@@geminikid1617 She is.
Now _this_ is a trained Dramatic Soprano.
She a probably spinto soprano.
@@theviewer4442 She likely was one when she was young, but I hear Dramatic Soprano here when she's older and had stopped pursuing opera long before.
She studied at prestigious institutes for several years beginning at 8 and was singing Spinto arias by 13, even then saying she would lighten her voice. Her teachers primarily considered her a Dramatic Soprano as well. Not much of a point in speculation.
@@XxQueenChristinaxX She is a spinto soprano, his physique betrays that she is a spinto, her voice reminds me of spinto sopranos Lenny Eversong and Elaine Martins, she is thin, tall, strong, athletic and small-headed, all the characteristics of a spinto soprano, her lower register has a dark brown color just like the mezzo sopranos, all spinto sopranos have the same brunette quality in the lower register as the mezzosopranos, the dramatic sopranos have the same low register as the contralto, because only dramatic soprano and contralto have this blackness color in the low notes.
Training you have but a spinto soprano will never be dramatic soprano or mezzosoprano, because the fach vocal is permanent, as it is not classified by extension it is classified by physical faculties and vocals faculties, even if a blowing spinto gets old, it will always remain spinto, because its vocal tract and vocal folds will continue to be spinto for the rest of its life.
@@theviewer4442 You clearly place too much emphasis on physique. I'm not going to help you there.
Your tone color comparison makes little sense and once again you ignore that this can be technically manipulated, especially when you said that Dramatic Soprano and Contralto have the same lower register.
I'm not familiar with Martins but she sounds closer to Spinto Soprano than Leny Eversong who I've always heard as a Mezzo-Soprano with a solid top and a preference for a brighter tone. I can see how she could be called a Spinto but I don't believe that's accurate.
Eversong clearly doesn't fit "all the characteristics of a Spinto Soprano" according to you. Enough of that.
I doubt Reed is considered tall at 5'3"/160 cm. Again, height isn't going to determine Fach, it's the vocal tract that matters here.
The belief that a singer singing Spinto Soprano barely in her teens couldn't possibly end up at Dramatic Soprano in mature adulthood is also ridiculous.
@@XxQueenChristinaxX ridiculous is classifying the voice of a teenager who is going through hormonal change, it is ridiculous to call Leny Eversong a mezzosoprano, since Eversong metal in the middle and upper registers is silver like that of every spinto soprano and not the bronzed metal of the mezzosopranos voice, Leny Eversong's vocal tract and folds are clearly a spinto soprano, Vivian Reed is clearly a spinto soprano, she doesn't sound like a dramatic soprano, the only dramatic soprano I've heard in pop is Adele.
Sopranos and mezzo-soprano in contemporary music should all learn a thing or two from Miss Reed , great video Kaji 👏👏👏
She's contralto.
Her voice so unike and her belts on f5 g5 so full and beautifull soprano she even make it harder on her self by pulling chest her voice I think naturally little bit brighter
0:11 shocked! Very strong Bb3! Stronger than many tenor in modern pop
Her lower range has definitely profited from her training, I'm sure. So full! As a soprano, you have to be like a man when singing low so it can be full. Ponselle sounded manly singing low. Also, it's a shame how she overpowered those children on G4 at 11:44.Completely covered their singing 😂. I Came back to C5's. They are consistently very resonant and we'll produced. Another key to resonance seems to be how your pronounce the vowels. Bless the "Chaaaalld" not "chiiiii". The "aa" and "oo" helps. If that makes sense. Just a lay observation. Shirley does similar.
Lmaooo that G4 shookt their core ahahahah
she reminds me of Shirley Bassey in the way they sound and how they approach certain notes
Her voice is similiar to Shirley Bassey
8:06 ❤
Casually sustaining C3 on a Forte dynamic😮😮😮
I don’t understand how she’s able to produce such a strong A2 but such an easy mixed Bb5! I know she was a lot older in the A2 clip but damn! Also the richness of her head voice is just divine!! 😍
The Bb5 there is miles easier to produce than some of the A4-D5!
I didn't know her. A trully technician. Very aware of what and why she is doing it. She's a refined version of Whitney. Same approach with Vivien having a way more polished instrument.
her tone sometimes is reminiscent of Jennifer’s , or vice versa . Her lows are out of this world !
46:12 the darkest tonally D5 I’ve heard in ages.
Can a high soprano produce a dark D5 belt like that?
@@ThePianoguy89 I don't see why not.
@@ThePianoguy89 yes high sopranos can
I’m so glad she’s getting more shine these days… her range and scope deserve all the flowers.
I came across her music as a teenager at a second hand record store. I bought her self titled 1970 album because I liked the cover and fell in love with her voice. I didn’t realise at the time how understated she was being on this record but loved it all the same.
Potentially controversial but her version of Lean on me is my favourite. Aside from the nostalgia of being drawn to the song it has the effect of transporting me to a time I did not exist in. There’s a kind of sad longing in her version.
I love Aretha’s and Melba’s version too though. Thanks for this post.
Great singer with a beautiful voice. Lean on me by the phenomenal Van McCoy in partnership with Joe Cobb is my favorite, along with Believe in yourself by Charlie Smalls.

HOLY F THAT Depth on that E3 thoo
I am more impressed with the low notes than the high notes, she can project that C3 better than some men. She does not use the same coordination for belting than Shirley or Whitney (Almost pure Chest Voice), but still very full and thick.
Whitney’s belting was not even remotely as weighty as Shirley’s above C.

Real dramatic soprano. Not Patti Labelle like other people say.
Yea, Patti is a most likely a Spinto-Lirico with an underdeveloped lower end. But that upper- mid and higher is where few have as much dexterity in registration and coordination. And her head voice is probably top 3 most powerful in pop. She just never rely developed that lower part of her voice. She has some lows, though.
ruclips.net/video/thPnksFgkbc/видео.html
Her voice is very high set unamped and her headvoice is unique. It's almost coloratura but she doesn't have a upper end in head (F6+) or the flexibility to do those complex trills, stacatto, and ornamentation that coloraturas do
@@teegee7801 Actual coloratura roles never really went above E-flat, and even that was very rare. The Mozartian F6-G6 is not a common thing. He wrote it for whistle singers.
Everyone says patti is dramatic. Maybe she didn't opera train so it sounds different on some notes.
Patti is certainly a dramatic soprano her chest voice sits even higher than Vivian Reeds that’s all. Patti has a large squeak that is clear indicator that she is dramatic soprano. Patti has over powered Opera Spinto Tenor Placido Domingo effortlessly when performing a duet with him. She certain overpowered Denise Graves when performing a duet with her. I have seen Patti live she certainly doesn’t need a microphone.

Vivian Reed is a trained classical soprano. Stop calling every woman a contralto. It’s ridiculous.
@@KajiVocals Not every woman is a contralto. But most of girls are contraltos. Soprano is very rare and high voice.
@@Kurdyukov87pianist You seem to be the only person in the world to believe that. Contralto is a low female voice with primo passaggio around D to E♭, and the density akin to that of a tenor. I’d suggest you study more voice pedagogy. Soprano is the most common voice. And most people will agree with that, even as early as Tosi, and as recent as Titze. Great work! But I refuse to believe you do all this by yourself for each singer and you listen to all their studio songs, their live performances and do these vocal range youtube videos that last even like 1-2 hours for each singer. You must definitely have a software program that just analyzes the notes of each song automatically. There is no way you listen to all these studio vocals, live vocals for each note for every singer.
