When the average steam locomotive whooshes steam and smoke near people they get riled. Scott does it, and there's smiles everywhere. I think they just love having him back.

Thank you SO much. A trip home for me. I used to ride this train often when I was growing up. My first memory was with my granny, must have been at the end of the war and the train was packed iwth servicemen laying and standing in the corridor. And the other, as a young girl was my granny and I alone in the carriage and a soldier came in. I was laying down on the seat and he put his army coat over me. I can still feel the scratchiness of it on my face. The Forth Bridge let me know that Dunfermline would be along in just a little bit, which was home.
I am old now and will never seee the homeland again but this was almost as good and has special meaning for me. Thank you again!

Suppa Duupa video, and amazing to see platform so quiet when it steamed through.
It was so different when it made it's first appearance here on the North Wales coast, hardly any room on the platform in Llandudno junction.

Is "Flying Scotsman" the name of this particular locomotive, or of the railroad run? And is this a steam nostalgia thing, or a regularly scheduled service? Is there infrastructure like coaling stations and water towers still in place, or does the train require a leap-frogging support team?

Hi the Engine is named the Flying Scotsman it does Heritage Steam Trips see www.steamdreams.co.uk . Virgin Trains, also runs a four-hour 'Flying Scotsman' express service from Edinburgh to London using modern rolling stock.

Russ G The Flying Scotsman is an express passenger service that has run between London and Edinburgh since the 1860s. This engine was named Flying Scotsman in 1924 as a publicity and marketing thing by the London and North Eastern Railway and was the flagship locomotive of the railway, occasionally hauling the express it was named after. This engine (which celebrated its 95th birthday back in February) has had a long and storied life. It’s gone through multiple numbers and colors, in 1934 it was the first steam engine to *officially* record a speed of 100 mph, and in 1928 it hauled the first non-stop run of The Flying Scotsman express from London to Edinburgh. Flying Scotsman also starred in a 1929 movie that was named after it. After being rescued from scrap in 1963, the engine has continued to lead an exciting life through multiple private owners and eventually into the ownership of the National Railway Museum in York. From 1969 to 1973, the engine toured the United States and up into Canada, and from 1988-1989, the engine toured Australia. During its visit to Australia, Flying Scotsman set a world record for the longest non-stop run for a steam locomotive at 422 miles.

Today the coaling stations and water towers are too few and far apart, she requires other infrastructure for long runs when necessary. Its only a matter of scheduling that infrastructure to be in place...
