Hi Karen: A new to me KAL, how awesome! I haven’t knit socks for over a year already because I had to knit for my first grand kid and friend’s babies and grand babies. Additionally, I was also focused on knitting sweaters for me after being successful with colorwork yoke sweater. I plan to knit texture socks for your KAL because I usually just knit vanilla socks. I’ll have to refresh my memory on sock knitting! Thanks for sharing! Happy knitting! ❤❤
Hi! I just wanted to let you know how much I’m enjoying your podcast! I started watching during the Stephen West MKAL (2022) and have stayed in since then. I’m so happy you’re posting more regularly too. I’m from New York but I come to Chicago about twice per year for meetings and I’m so happy you highlighted a local yarn store, I don’t get a lot of “down time” when I’m there but I might be able to sneak away and go yarn shopping one day! Thank you for the podcast!
Yes you could do flat and then pick up provisional cast on or even pick up stitches and work other way. Alternatively knit the lining in the round and then stop do the colour work flat then go back to the round once finished. This is how I do handwarmers with gap for my thumb.
Hi Karen, don't sweat the Intarsia I haven't done this since the kids were little but it really is not difficult. Just requires a bit of yarn management. The duplicate Stitch is also another effective way to add colour but also not difficult. Cant wait to see how your hat works. I think the provisional cast on sounds like it could work to pick up stitches and knit the liner.
I think the weird blue blob is a nappy pin, they used to come in pink or blue and the bit which was the opening part of the pin had a sort of plastic hat so there was no danger of it popping open and hurting the baby. It fits with the punk theme anyway.
Love the idea of your intarsia hat! The musselburgh hat is doubled of course, and then the brim turned up if you want, so quite warm really, but the intarsia one would certainly be thinner. I’ve not knitted intarsia before, so maybe I will join you in that. Really enjoy your podcasts, they always make me laugh, and love the yarn you chose!
I can’t wait to see the finished hat. This is going to be such a fun adventure. I will be joining the KAL. I have never knit socks two at a time so I will do that. I planned on it for a week long sock KAL but quit before I started 🤦🏽♀️
Karen, this sounds so exciting. Years ago when I knit for my teenage daughters, I did a lot of intarsia and duplicate stitch for different jumper patterns (I think I was about your age then 😂- awhile ago!) so it’s going to be interesting to see how you go about your new “punk” hat and all of your great knitters who join in the KAL. Can’t wait.
Hi Karen, I am excited to see how this adventure goes! Your enthusiasm makes me want to join…….we shall see…. I think the image in the corner looks like a paintbrush…..?? Maybe…… I know you can do it!❤
Hi Karen, lovely to hear your journey with the intarsia. Punk is not a word I would have chosen to adorn a hat, perhaps a kind word? Even "mum" would have been better. You are far from looking like a punk!!! I have done lots of intarsia in the past. And I do have doubts about the letters on the graph paper NOT knitting up to look like the word (but then perhaps that's not a bad thing!) Your exploits make me smile with fondness -your joy of life and giving it a go attitude. Keep on. Love Lynn Albany Western Australia
I’m trying to scrunch up my eyes and make the blue thing look like a safety pin, because that would make sense! I can’t quite make it work though. One of the directors of the movie wore a suit with the pink motif on the back and his version makes the black part at the base look like a shadow on the letter P.
I'm excited to see how you create this hat. You can definitely do it! As far as the 'object' on the sweater, I think it's a paint brush and the handle is blue. 💜
I just found your channel. But I do want to join your KAL. I started in one last year but barely got the project started before that MKAL was over, so that will be the project I work on for this one. Kind of excited to see what everyone else is doing too.
I'm trying to master the heel flap and gusset, I just cannot get it to look right. I'm not even sure what I'm doing wrong as I'm following the pattern and the video as is, but just doesn't look right. Will this count? I thought the blue was a lipstick. How cool would it be to wear a blue lipstick. I can barely get away with a dark pink, but I can imagine right! Have a fabulous weekend. Take care xxJane 🐇
Isn't that image a microphone? Held upside down so the black is the mic and the blue is the handle? I mean if it's punk maybe the vintage sweater was originally connected to music?
Is it a knife? That would be exceedingly punk... If I were you I would join in the round after I finish the colorwork section to knit the top of the hat in the round too. Then you don't have to do the decreases flat. After you bind off the top and pick up in the round for the lining you can seam together the open slit behind the colorwork.

Love the 3 colors you chose.
Karen love this idea. I think the blue is a lipstick.
I think the blue is a marker or paint brush for graffiti! I may have to figure something out to join you!

Fun idea for the hat! Intarsia seems a bit scary, good for you! I think I’ll join in your KAL, but with something else other than Intarsia 😂

I think I’ll join your KAL! I just have to look through my queue and see what challenges I can find 😅

The image looks to me like "Punk" is holding a beer bottle. The star is a safe alternative.

Loved this episode and excited to see your intarsia adventures. 🎉 Are you planning on the “Punk” image to be mirror imaged? ❤
I think her camera just reverses the image.
I'm sure that the word will be the correct way for her. x
@@janedaniel7288 AH! I had not even thought of that for some reason. Thanks!
