From Santa Monica Studio comes the sequel to the critically acclaimed God of War (2018).
Fimbulwinter is well underway. Kratos and Atreus must journey to each of the Nine Realms in search of answers as Asgardian forces prepare for a prophesied battle that will end the world. Along the way they will explore stunning, mythical landscapes, and face fearsome enemies in the form of Norse gods and monsters. The threat of Ragnarok grows ever closer. Kratos and Atreus must choose between their own safety and the safety of the realms.
● A future, unwritten: Atreus seeks knowledge to help him understand the prophecy of “Loki” and establish his role in Ragnarok. Kratos must decide whether he will be chained by the fear of repeating his mistakes or break free of his past to be the father Atreus needs.
● Instruments of war: The Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos and Guardian Shield return alongside a host of new abilities for both Kratos and Atreus. Kratos’ deadly Spartan kills will be tested like never before as he battles gods and monsters across Nine Realms to protect his family.

I'm happy to report that it seems they have fixed the problem you had with the touchpad. I have just finished the story and had zero problems opening the map this way and I was checking it a lot. Great review by the way 👌

I come and go on your content, but goddamn do you deliver when I do watch. I had no idea how educated you were. I mean I knew you weren’t dumb, but having that different mindset when it comes to UI is awesome, because there’s some games where I can’t put my finger on it but the ui just feels bad

erm actually 🤓🤓🤓🤓 the combat quicktime, events and boss fights makes this a interactive movie like all games🤓🤓🤓(technically all games are interactive movies)
The way I play games is that I do literally everything I'm going to do in that play through, including all side quests etc. all content I'm going to do, and then I finish the game and see the credits roll. I never play a game after that point, if I do, it's because I'm starting a new play through. And I never play NG+'s, the struggle of starting with nothing and getting stronger is a big part of the fun for me. Sometimes I hold off on that last mission for a very long time, because I'm trying to complete all content first. I'm probably the only person that plays games like this.
As I am watching your review, I am on 15 minutes before I can play the game and I have to say that thank you for the review, we have been waiting for this game for far too long, and as for the episodes, yes three per day will do.

As someone who’s visually impaired it’s amazing to hear about the accessibility options. I just need large text really and the text looks great from what I’ve seen compare to the first one at launch.

glad my 2 most anticipated games this year reviewed well, looking forward to ragnarok
the combat in this is WAY harder than dark souls, it punishes you so heavily for being in the center of the area, and then if you back in to a corner ur dead. It throws 4 enemies at you at once, and then doesn't really give you any tools to deal with that many foes. Probably wouldnt bother me as much if the healing system weren't so rigid.
whats with the enemies running behind you and the camera not even moving fast enough to allow you to turn around and block, just frustrating stuff, again, wouldnt feel as bad if the game didn't feel like ur not supposed to get hit due to the scarcity of heals

I am excited about the game but exploring on my own and then getting stock on an area with a “mandatory” boss fight is not appealing at all. Aside from that, I am looking forward to play it. 😀
It's pretty odd design, especially when most of us want to hammer all side content to get skill tree unlocked as quick as possible. If the side missions are harder than story missions as you progress, why lock you into them?
Elden Ring was a landmark whereas Ragnarok sounds like a good sequel (refinement + more stuff) to a good game. While I enjoyed most of the other parts, I was personally a bit underwhelmed by God of War 2018's combat (the "chopping wood" feel, the camera, the enemy design, most bosses, etc) and didn't find any of the combat on GMGOW super engaging outside of the Valkyrie fights, so I'm hoping the enemy, encounter and boss design is more interesting this time around even if the core system is the same. I'm encouraged by you mentioning some of the accessibility features; I really hope they have some options setting the arrow firing to an auto-fire toggle or something like that because boy did it get annoying and even physically painful to have to spam that constantly while trying to focus on melee combat.
I just think the unique nature of Elden ring, along with the absolute polish of the dark souls formula, makes it the game of the year.

Elden Ring was great but Polished it certainly was not and souls games have never been bar bloodborne. If anything they are known to be buggy/ dated but you deal with it as part of the charm & atmosphear of those games.
I actually played this game during the holiday season of 2022. I enjoyed exploring the nine realms even I kinda felt like they were a bid alien like such as Alfheim, Stravalheim, Vanaheim and Jotunheim, the most bizarre and strange looking of them all. I really enjoyed the characters, especially Kratos, Atreus and the 2 Dwarves. My favorite moments were the arrival the Asgard as well as Odin giving Atreus the tour of his kingdom, the Heimdall boss fight and Ragnarok itself. I would give this game a 10 out of 10.

I actually wasn´t a huge fan of the God of War reboot. I thought the fighting was super clunky compared to a lot of other action games and action RPG:s. I liked the first three games becasue they reminded me of DMC. This looks a bit better though...
I guess it is too late Cowboy but I would really like if you downloaded the game in PS4 and run it for like a half an hour or something to let us know how it performs in old gen.

M son looks identical to Atreis. Made me feel wierd playing it and get super invested.
Game looks solid, I was a initially a bit miffed that there wasn't such a leap in graphics but it's seems everything as been refined and this sequel is a more complete package.

I really expected the entire game to just be kratos and Atreus. I was happily surprised to see all the companions come and go throughout the game.

First encounter with him is very early, similar to Baldur from the 2018, I think we encounter him again later but I haven't yet.

I love all your Elden Ring content and find it very valuable. I just wish you and others had been more careful about revealing additional playable characters. I know that's barely a drop in the bucket of what's in store with this game, but it wasn't in the promotional content for a reason.
EDIT: I just saw your warning after posting that. I stand corrected, although I do consider that to be more than a "minor" spoiler. Thank you for all your work on all my favorite games.
You start playing as him within the first few hours and it's a core part of the gameplay, probably a 3rd of the game is played as Atreus, it would have been disingenuous to tell you "You get an 80 hr game" without mentioning that 25 of those hours are not as Kratos.
