It is insane how from this relatively short video, I have already seen improvements to all of the shortcomings GOW had with it’s gameplay. Sony Santa Monica devs once again showing off why they are one of the best action studios in the world 💪
Thank you all so much for interviewing the developers as well. I love when a studio gives voice to their creators and shows the people and quantity of work that goes into making something like this.
This whole studio seems to give a lot more credit to their devs than most. If you watch the raising Kratos documentary you really get to know the people behind the game and makes it a more personal experience IMO
This seems like a relatively great studio and dev team to work for. I mean it's easy to say that in these promos because it's designed to feel like that's the case, but a handful of companies, like TLOU and this, you can tell that this is largely the case- and "largely" the case means a great achievement considering the stress of the different corporate, programming uncertainties and general real-world pressures that are applied to a AAA title such as this. I'm still 100% sure they had some insane mad rush toward launch deadlines that destroyed families, but that is kind of the minimum requirement if you're a game dev.
Hearing how the bosses were inspired by large iconic bosses from the past games g makes me really hyped for this one. Loved the giant jellyfish and the eclipse scene
@@Fabian-dx8ub It's been a couple of years in-game since then so perhaps Odin manipulated them to do his bidding or(most likely) valkyries got divided into two factions: loyalists and rebels. At least that's what I hope for. Or it can be so that some are pro-Odin and rest are pro-Freya(she was a queen of valkyries after all) and thus all had become enemies.
All thanks to Bear McCreary! I loved his work in Black Sails, and when I found out he was working on 2018's soundtrack I got HYPED! So glad to see him return for the sequel! Everything's shaping up for this game to win GOTY :D

The fact that they went back to the older games to inspire them and pick out some of the best things to work for the new game is amazing. Really shows the love and dedication all the employees have for this franchise. One of the biggest complaints from GOW 2018 was the lack of enemy variety and they really took that to heart to increase it which looks great
They also fired the old crew that made GoW 2018 specifically. They hired new developers that actually looked back to the old franchise and made it everything it needs to be. Santa Monica Studios is amazing to their players and expect them to release more xo tent on this game down the line.
This is insane. 4:45 the Blades and Axe new executions is GREAT! And all the new enemy, all the new combat skill new runic attack, Grapple move combat grapple and the new BGM is the BEST. Also I like Tyr is with us, hope can see his fight style.

Using ancient magic, Odin cast the wolves to the heavens, and they began chasing the sun and the moon, but they will not do so endlessly. It is foretold that the day Sköll and Hati catch and devour their prey will be the day that marks the beginning of Ragnarök.
considering they've said we are going to explore all 9 realms i hope that means Niflheim and Muspelheim will be more than just the maze and arenas they were in the last game, both looked like a genuinely interesting environments
I love these behind the scenes. Very nice to get some of the creators on screen so we can give them credit, and see who is doing what! The artists all seem badass!

We always talk about the voice actors, or the producers, but its the vfx artists, and the combat designers who really deserve recognition. The actual architects. I like seeing them.
The new executions are a very nice and needed touch, I hope that they also put in more unarmed combat, we can’t forget that kratos’ hands are just as deadly as the weapons he uses lol

Being able to choose between fists, blades and the axe for executions is insane! I loved testing all the different ones in the original. That’s a big task, so awesome.

The only thing I wish they add was blood leaking from the enemies after being badly wounded by Kratos Blades & Axe, also wish it shown slash wounds on the enemies..
Can’t wait to see all the added verticality mixed with the combat in-person. There were only a handful of spots in GoW (2018) where you might have been able to pull off a ground slam from a ledge, but to have it be 100% intentional in this game is gonna be a blast. I wonder if they found a way to add the ability to double wield the axe with one of the blades of chaos. Either way, I’m excited.

FR my only complaint from 2018 was the lack of actually fighting other gods decides thors son and baldur in this game looks we will fight Thor,Odin, fenrir, and freya at the least
The mobility in this game is what I was really waiting for. Last game we couldnt grapple for faster climbing cause Atreus was still young. He can't follow Kratos at the same pace. But now that he is older things will finally get faster
Well yea but at least u wont be spending 3 years climbing a wall. And jump button (as much as I agree with u) doesnt really fit here nor the combat style that they imagine. The only version of jump we will get is leap attack and im fine with that

Usually with a sequel, there's stuff that is sometimes looked over, left behind, replaced, or just worked in a different way. Here, all I see is improvement upon everything from before. Combat looks so much more engaging, more intense, and dare I say looks more fun than before. Not to mention to the bgm and environment makes it seem so much more pleasing to the eye. This. This is definitely gonna be game of the year.
Its such and amazing throw back to see the blades interact with the environment again, and the blades traversal an OG moment right there. I do wonder though if we gonna get a those bright white light to indicate a swing or a grapple.
I love how clear it is that although they’re upfront about a lot of the mechanics, they’re clearly keeping a lot of hoodies under wraps. Just look at what endgame combat could look like in GOW 2018. I’m getting very excited for this
All the people that were talking in this video are so in tune with what GoW entails. It's actually special and rare these days to see a development team saying all the right things and being so clearly on the same page as the player/fan when it comes to the franchise they are creating a sequel for. There's nothing left to be said really. Amazing stuff.
What an incredible look into the game, all the necessary facets & the gifted humans giving us all they have to form this future legend of a game title. I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would.
I would just like to point out that neat little detail of Atreus ducking to dodge Kratos' axe coming back to him and Atreus immediately charging the enemy at 5:39
I love when game designers and programmers talk about their struggles, what they've learned from the last game, and what they're able to take advantage of. They're not hyping up the game and just talking about how great it is, they're giving us a window into how much genuine passion and effort they've put into the project, which gives me a thousand times more faith in them than a simple "we're so excited to be working on this game, this game is gonna be amazing, we can't wait for you to play this game, we feel so honored to have made this game" etc.

FR my only complaint from 2018 was the lack of actually fighting other gods decides thors son and baldur in this game looks we will fight Thor,Odin, fenrir, and freya at the least

5:37 I just noticed Atreus bends down to avoid kratos's axe whenever it is coming back to him.
Yeah, they put lots of attention in details
The mobility in this game is what I was really waiting for. Last game we couldnt grapple for faster climbing cause Atreus was still young. He can't follow Kratos at the same pace. But now that he is older things will finally get faster
Still no jump button tho, therefore no challenge in platforming

Usually with a sequel, there's stuff that is sometimes looked over, left behind, replaced, or just worked in a different way. Here, all I see is improvement upon everything from before. Combat looks so much more engaging, more intense, and dare I say looks more fun than before. Not to mention to the bgm and environment makes it seem so much more pleasing to the eye. This. This is definitely gonna be game of the year.
It will be a close call between this game and Elden Ring

Its such and amazing throw back to see the blades interact with the environment again, and the blades traversal an OG moment right there. I do wonder though if we gonna get a those bright white light to indicate a swing or a grapple.

I love how clear it is that although they’re upfront about a lot of the mechanics, they’re clearly keeping a lot of hoodies under wraps. Just look at what endgame combat could look like in GOW 2018. I’m getting very excited for this

All the people that were talking in this video are so in tune with what GoW entails. It's actually special and rare these days to see a development team saying all the right things and being so clearly on the same page as the player/fan when it comes to the franchise they are creating a sequel for. There's nothing left to be said really. Amazing stuff.

What an incredible look into the game, all the necessary facets & the gifted humans giving us all they have to form this future legend of a game title. I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would.
I would just like to point out that neat little detail of Atreus ducking to dodge Kratos' axe coming back to him and Atreus immediately charging the enemy at 5:39
I love when game designers and programmers talk about their struggles, what they've learned from the last game, and what they're able to take advantage of. They're not hyping up the game and just talking about how great it is, they're giving us a window into how much genuine passion and effort they've put into the project, which gives me a thousand times more faith in them than a simple "we're so excited to be working on this game, this game is gonna be amazing, we can't wait for you to play this game, we feel so honored to have made this game" etc.
All of these devs speak my language.
