so happy you have had a great experience with your Goldwing- we love the bike and the brand- but we have an unusual story .... been in the shop too many times- bummer!
I recently sold my 2018 Wing Tour DCT, I was a little leery of some of the recall stuff, but my main reason was I got tired of the weight and my reach to the ground. The Wing is a great bike, but I finally decided to go smaller and lighter. I currently have a Tiger 900 and a Bonneville T120. Both are better for me all the way around.
The physics of the Goldwing is challenging for sure. We have many friends with Tigers and love them. We hope you have many miles of trouble free riding ahead of you- Thank You so much for sharing you Tiger “tale”- Appreciate you watching and writing-
My last five big bikes for long distance touring have been 86 Venture, 2004, BMW K 1200 LT, 2002 Yamaha midnight Venture, 2002, GL 1800 gold wing- and finally, my current machine I went back to my third Yamaha royal star venture. I have over 200,000 combined miles on my three ventures. I’ve had no mechanical issues. You can get out the water pump, the starter, the stator , The slave cylinder, and even the clutch using the tool kit, and you don’t have to remove any fairing panels to get at those components. Venture‘s are known for going over 300,000 miles. They are simple compared to a Goldwing. I know I’ve had both do I do all my own maintenance having been a motorcycle mechanic at three different dealerships. my Goldwing was smoother, better handling, it had better brakes than any of my other big bikes, but everything is buried in plastic, and when you’re paying dealer $130 an hour to do maintenance or service, that adds up pretty quick. Labor to change the air filter at a dealer on my Goldwing, including the filter, over $700. That is a six hour job to replace the air filter at the dealer on my 2002 goldwing.. that’s a 20 minute job on my Venture. And I don’t even have to remove the gas tank. Gold wings are perfect, but they are so hard to work on, there is no such thing as a simple job on a Goldwing. And that’s why I don’t own one anymore. I have a video on my RUclips channel that has over 74,000 views comparing my GL 1800 Goldwing to my current royal star venture.. it is my most popular video by far. In that video I say goldwings ate perfect- But I don’t wanna work on one ever again. if you keep your Goldwing for 100,000 miles, and have the dealer change your air filter every 10,000 miles, you’re going to spend over $7000 in labor to change 10 air filters on the Goldwing.. when I heard that, I thought that was ridiculous, that was until I changed my own air filter. After doing the job, which took me about six hours, having been a motorcycle dealer mechanic for years, I can say that that is a fair price because that is not a quick easy job. .. That’s just an example of how difficult it can be just to get at maintenance items on the gold wings
Wow! We appreciate your professional point of view- We think you have an awesome bike there- Certainly another ballpark when working on it yourself- In the past we worked on our own stuff- But with the Goldwing it is too expensive to risk breaking plastic… Thank u for connecting and we will have to check out your channel- We look forward to it Thx for supporting us by watching and writing-
I have my 2014 for sale and ordered a 2025 for my 70th birthday. Havnt heard of any trouble on the 2022 and newer wings. To bad you got a dud. But i woukd go for another wing. Still the most reliable bike on the market.
Congratulations 🎉 on your 2025 wing / 70th birthday gift! That’s incredible! While ours may be a dud, we are curious 👀 what 2025 will bring as far as changes and upgrades. Thank you for checking out the video and sharing your thoughts- Wishing you many miles and smiles-
I just bought my new to me 2018 Goldwing this past summer…my 4th Goldwing…if I had known about this issue then, I would not have purchased it…but…it’s mine now and i’ll just get the recall done and hopefully not look back…this is the best bike i’ve ever owned and hope to continue loving it…ride safe
Enjoy that Goldwing and may it bring you many more miles of adventure- You sound like a true Wing 🪽 fan- wow! 4! We realize we the issues with our bike are rare and we r thinking you won’t encounter these anomalies that we have…Thx for letting us know your story and ride safe…stay in touch
I have a 2022 Goldwing and no real problems it was on a list to get checked for recall but did not have any problems when taken in. I want to say with all the computer stuff on them it could have issues. mine has given me a couple times codes and check engine light and would not start at the time. but then on its own rest and works fine. If you have ever had issues electrically you can't do anything if it is not happening at the time. it's like a gremlin you have to catch at the time there is no trace if it is not happening. just wanted to share that
Hey there, thanks for watching our videos and taking time to comment. Intermittent electrical problems are literally the worst about that total gremlins. The more electrical, more the gadgetry, the more headaches to follow- But when everything works, isn’t it so nice?
So sorry you guys are having all this trouble. You may have just got a bad lemon. I would trade it in and upgrade to a 2024 Gold Wing. You know you want one...😂
I have never been a part of Wing World. But, I know that expectations are very high for reliability for those that are part of that scene. I have however owned some of the other expensive brands out there and would say that it is a crapshoot. One brand I owned liked to blame owner incompetence for the problems with the bike. They would not issue an actual recall and the moment the bike was out of its admittedly long warranty, you were on your own. They had an unfortunately well documented problem about 20 years ago that put many riders on Wings. No help from the factory for catostropic failures on expensive bikes. So, I applaud big H for stepping up. I hope the authors get their issues addressed and glad I found your content.
Thank you for the kind words and for sharing your experience. Glad you found our content! You’re right about the crapshoot- we’ve ones so many makes and mostly and have had mostly trouble free experiences. The Goldwing def fits your comment about high expectations- Whatcha riding these days? Just curious, if ya don’t mind sharing. Thanks for watching and taking time to write- Nice to connect with ya!
I had a 2020 DCT tour had a couple issues with it it was in the shop once for electrical issues. What are the things I didn't like about it was that I had to tear the bike in half just to change the air filters that's just nuts. I now have a 2023 Road King never been in the shop for anything and I write it daily shame on you Honda for making the bike so complicated
Complicated engineering- we hear you in that! Congrats on your Road King- We own an ‘02 RK and love it… Boy, do we hear ya on that air filter situation! Yikes… Hope you have years or trouble free miles on the HD RK!! Thank for making time to watch and comment.
Sorry to hear about this guys. Newer tech means lots of issues. Plus a Japanese company is always all about perfection so it truly is a double edge sword. Sometimes being a second or third owner is a good thing, the previous owners worked the headaches out (most of the time).
I get your frustration. All I can think is that its a lemon unit? Like others have said, my 2018 DCT Tour has 50K miles and not a single problem, and I feel its just getting broken in. I do my own maintenance, so I learned how things work on the bike. I haven't had any of the recall stuff done, yet, but I'll get those taken care of when the dealer can do the UBS bolt replacement in January. If I were to change bikes, I think the Indian Challenger would be at the top of my list.
Thank you for watching and commenting- The Challenger is a great bike! We almost bought one in South Dakota - Kudos to you for handling your own maintenance- Yep - we think we have a lemon- 🍋 It’s a bummer for sure… Glad your riding is trouble free!
Just had mine done took four days for my 2018 DCT from my local dealer small town dealer stated the biggest problem is just getting the bikes in to be able to get the VIN numbers off to order the parts not a big deal. It looks like.
We are glad to hear you’re all taken care of. The list of issues on our bike, sadly is more than just recall issues- So grateful you took the time to watch the video and to write in and let us know about your experience- Thanks !
I have a 21 Bagger DCT and I only know of two recalls so far on my model year. Turns out that the 1st one (fuel pump) was NOT needed for my bike. there are a lot of wings out there with a lot more miles on heir bikes than mine and have not had any problems at all. Why people panic when someone says Recall. Well I for one plan to keep riding mine till the wheels fall off and then worry about it. Oh I only have about 23k on mine rite now. and yes I will be riding over to Daytona in feb... da ol turtle...
Glad to hear you’re having a great experience with your Bagger- and you’re so right- we should all keep our heads up- We, having a manual, experienced a big issue the first recall, that is shown here: ruclips.net/video/dND0uV62EAU/видео.htmlsi=nP5u0YjAXDJa5I47 We were the first in the US to report the above issue to Honda- and we almost ended up in a Lemon Law situation as our bike was in the shop 3X due to intermittent engine shutdown while riding- So we are not "panicking" - we are speaking from experience- Imagine being at speed on the highway and your engine just stopping.... Recently ours got stuck in reverse while on a big run with outer bikers... Beyond that out particular bike has had many other maintenance hiccups - but this is just our expeience- Glad yours is better and keep the rubber side down!
Hurray for us manual Wingers! Glad to hear you’re having a good experience with yours. We are, however, in a very different spot. It’s been in the shop several times for non recall related issues- We just think we have a lemon- Psyched for you…Bummed for us! Thx for watching and writing in-
Hi ,I would love to see a list of the multitude of faults and numerous recalls.once you’re reassured about this bolt issue I’m sure you’ll be back on track. Why waste money on a new one ,it will still be the same bike.Reverse issues are usually easily accessible cable issues. The pre 2018 wingers on their perfect bikes will love these negative comments just when I thought they had gone to sleep😂.TeeHee Richard Cottingham xx
Poking the hornets nest among owners with no issues lol- It’s not been perfection for us: Our first problem was at 400 miles on the odometer, with the engine shutting down on us while riding- We were the first to report it to Honda, and the issue became recall. Thanks for watching and commenting- we truly appreciate it -
@ that’s a serious one, never heard of that one in the UK.I normally keep quiet about negative issues until I’ve got rid of the bike in the interest of maintaining a good resale value .Once a dealer always a dealer !! Richard.
Sorry guys you are going through this with your Goldwing. I really don't know what you guys are talking about... I now have 20,000 miles and no problems. I own a GL 1800/2018-6 manual. Friends of mine the same... there is even a 1800/2021 (DCT) with 70,000 miles. Apart from a RECALL (April 2024) for the fuel pump, which was replaced correctly under warranty without complications! Greetz from Belgium.
Hello there in Belgium ! We are glad you have had a trouble free experience- As most Goldwing riders have had for 50 years- We dare in the minority- We have had numerous issues with ours- and we may be “victims” of a bad bike manufactured during Covid, when all businesses were challenged, between staffing and supplies - It’s been quite an issue for us personally- Again, happy your Wing 🪽 is wonderful- Thanks you for taking time to watch and write a comment!!!
If a recall makes you feel this way. Life must be tough. Ill keep my goldwing anyday of the week over any other brand. Im on my 6th wing. Never done anything more than oil changes and batteries and brakes. There will a bad one or two in every brand. But every wing ive had held its value and sold well will over 150k miles on each.
Thanks for your perspective, it's great to hear how happy you are with your Goldwings and the longevity you've experienced! We’ve owned several Hondas since 1982- We are pretty sure we have a lemon- It’s been in the shop numerous times, starting at only 400 miles on the odometer- Our unit has have several issues- we were the first people in US to report an issue with engine shutdown- which eventually became recall number one: the software problem- but each time Honda has stepped up to take care of us - Recently our Goldwing was stuck in reverse on a road trip and took 30 minutes and sev shutoffs and restarts to clear- We r sharing only the tip of the iceberg here- but we feel we do have a lemon- Bummed as we love the Brand and the bike…
Anniversary model guys! That’s the great thing about life isn’t it? We can Sell, trade and buy what we want. Go for it! Keep us posted. Now keep smiling. Fun times await. Woohoo!
The big 50th- we def have our eye 👁️ on the the prize - Here’s to freedom of choice! Thanks for your time and attention on this video and being g supportive-
So I have a 2023 Goldwing with 10000 miles on it and never been in the shop yet except for a recall. here is how I look at recalls. no manufacturer is perfect. however if they are willing to say there is an issue with these bikes or cars or whatever it is. and we want to take care of it for you. Then that's a good thing. that's all a recall is. its a company willing to say we want to fix your bike.
We are grateful you have had a positive experience so far! But when you look at three recalls in three years plus all the extra trouble / shop visits we’ve had with ours, including the bike being stuck in reverse 300 miles from home in a tiny town, you start to think different- Thanks for taking time to share your story and hope it keeps going well for you- Ride safe!
I bought my 2023 Tour DCT in 2023. It was subject to the fuel pump recall and the pump was replaced in about 45 minutes. It is not subject to the bolt issue recall. I have no problems with recalls, at least Honda is repairing the defective issues at no cost to the purchaser. I would not attempt to do a recall for the fact the dealer reports the work done and any future problems should be covered. You say it has been been in the shop for other issues, are they ones you could have addressed on your own? Cruiseman's Garage videos are well worth the cost if you have any mechanical abilities at all.
Well- thank u firstly for watching and commenting- We appreciate hearing from our community- At just 400 miles on the odometer, the engine started intermittently cutting out and turning itself off during deceleration- we had it in the shop several times over this issue- Service dept couldn’t figure it out…. Honda ended up replacing the top end on our motor as they did want to lemon law… and it turned out that this became a software recall as more customers experienced what we did, and we were the first folks in the US to experience and report it to Honda. We’ve had several hiccups- A big one that was annoying recently on a big road trip was the bike getting stuck in reverse- So these are just things that have happened to us, beyond any type of reg maintenance- We agree that Cruiseman offers great value with his video package- We’ve simply have had way too much unusual and unique trouble with the machine- Sad as we love the the brand and the bike- Thx again
As far as replacing your goldwing for another model I just don’t think anything out there in the V-twin category can compare to that flat six-cylinder !
It’s true, the engine is a masterpiece, but with a couple recalls already this year, we’re starting to think it’s just not worth the hassle. There’s not doubt that the flat six is the smoothest engine today- BMW’s K1600 is nothing to laugh at- Neither are some of the HDs and Indians for that matter…
I would trade it in for a new one my 2005 never has trouble I was going to trade it in for a new one but to many stories like this so I will just keep riding it.
That might be the best idea- We are big Gen 5 fans! Glad you’ve had so many trouble free miles - And we’re also glad you took the time to watch and write in …
Those Gen 5s… we r big fans- We r currently curious about the upcoming 50th anniversary Wing… Thanks for writing and watching- grateful you took the time to connect.
The world is made of mistakes we're not perfect and humans learn from them and move on. A few recalls here and there there's nothing to worry about it doesn't mean you have a lemon. Remember these things are like cars they're $30k+ so they might need a little bit of attention here and there to dial things in. Take a deep breath you'll be fine and just keep riding, recalls are a part of life and will never end.. Remember the nicer something is the more attention it needs.
Hello there- Thank you for watching and writing- always good to hear from our community- There is truth to what you’re saying- For us personally, in addition to three recalls in three years, all having to do with resulting engine failure, plus all the other problems this bike of ours has had, just a sort tarnished the reputation we had in heads about the bike being better- Honda has stepped up in all recall and warranty situations tho- Recently we had a lot of down time on a trip with our bike stuck in reverse- that was no fun- and it’s been in for several other reasons- But this is simply our personal experience- thx again!
69,000+ miles on My '18 GW DCT Bagger only Know of two (Fuel pump for 2024 & Bolt notice to go out in January 2025) If I'm missing One Let Me Know Please!
Yes- when we in 2021, the first recall we experienced was for 6 speed manuals only; a stop sale and required maintenance visit to fix a software glitch- In fact, we were the first people to report the problem. Our motorcycle, beginning at only 400 miles in, would give us intermittent engine shut down while running at speed. We had the bike in the shop several times, and almost lemon law did, but finally other people were reporting the same issue to Honda corporate, and finally an official recall occurred. Since you’re DCT, it wouldn’t have crossed your bike…. Thx for watching and writing in- We appreciate it… Here’s to more miles in 2025!
Hi all, sorry to hear your troubles with yours… maybe you just got a bad pandemic bike.. I have a 24 dct tour , so far it has 12k on it and not 1 issue with it , just big ear to ear smiles..
You are living the dream with a trouble free ride- congrats to you! Wish we could say the same- We were keeping some for the 50th anniversary bike in 2025- hoping to see upgrades- Thanks for watching and taking time to comment and keep the rubber side down !
I have a 2018 DCT over 50,000 miles on it Only had one recall so far and the boat will be the second I'm just glad Honda is looking out after me I've been lucky so far I still running the same battery only change tires oils and brakes and I will never go back.
Glad to hear your experience has been so positive! You’re living the dream in contrast to our lil nightmare- We’ve had trouble free Hondas our whole lives-first one back in ‘82- and many since- Ironically, the particular Honda model that supposed to be trouble free has given us the most trouble - But yes- glad they are stepping up- And glad you’re staying positive- Thanks for taking time to watch and share your experience- ride safe out there-
These types of issues can push some of us over the edge- Hope you’re happier now and you don’t have as many “bumps” in the road with your situation as we are having with ours- Grateful you took the time to let us know what’s going on with you and watching the video-
Dang ! Sorry you guys are going through this with your Goldwing , these are such great bikes . Good thing Honda is stepping up to help. I came close to trading my 2017 this summer for a new Goldwing but mine has been such a great bike I have almost 47000 on her and she really seems to be getting better and better so I guess I’ll just continue to ride her , thanks for what you do , ride on 👍😎
It sounds like you’ve been blessed with a great bike- we are big Gen 5 fans ourselves- Yep-we may have a lemon- a big, black lemon 🍋 🏍️🖤🖤 Thank you for being kind in your comments- we really love our moto community and are so appreciative to connect w folks like yourself- Here’s to to more miles and smiles…
I'm on my 5th GL starting from my 1988, 1996, 2003, 2010 and currently 2017, all of the GL1800's had multiple recalls. I'm now dealing with an overheating issue with my 2017 that no one can seem to fix. I will be trading in my 2017 in the Spring and am very hesitant on buying yet another GL. The question is what else is there to buy that is similar to the GL? The closest thing is the BMW K1600GTL. I will be looking to get a demo ride on the BMW but may end up with a 6th gen GL but not that I really want to.....................
We've been getting similar feedback from folks with older Wings as well- those great machines certainly aren't immune to issues - We do agree with you that it is hard to find a bike equal to a Goldwing but the BMW is a very good choice. Hope whatever you choose. You have lots of safe riding ahead of you and thank you for watching and leaving a comment. We appreciate you Stay in touch , and let us know what you get
oh no!! Well I think Cali has a lemon law so that might also be a consideration.. Also I think the Goldwing anniversary model should be released soon so but whos is to say that you will have better luck. It does seem like Honda is handeling it properly which I give themn credit for. I knew a few people with indian motorcycles that had non stop issues so I suppose it doesnt matter what you purchase, it will be a gamble.
You’re right about that- it IS a gamble! And, yes, we/they almost lemon lawed us- we shd revisit that before we make our decision- We are also super curious 👀 about the 50th anniversary release… So grateful you took time to watch and share you thoughts 💭 Thank you!
@@MiddleAgeRoadRage So yesterday I was at the Honda dealership (getting state inspection) and they told me that Honda has issued a "stop sell" for the Goldwing. Meaning that even if the GW is on the showroon floor, they cannot sell anyone a GW.
I have a 2021 goldwing too. I have had zero problems with it love the dct and the bike. This latest recall with the bolt that breaks and hand granades the engine has me concerned. I don’t want to trade for a new cause I love the bike but on the other hand am I going to make it home from my next trip? I’ll wait for the 2025s to come out to see what they are like. The last couple years have had ugly colors.
Firstly, thank you for watching the video and writing in. We have heard that the reports regarding this recall problems predominantly were coming from manual six speed owners. That does not mean that it couldn’t happen to a DCT, we just haven’t heard of it ourselves personally. Glad to hear you haven’t had any problems and we too will be waiting to see what the 50th anniversary Goldwing has to offer. Thanks again for watching.
I can understand your position. As you know I have my 2nd Goldwing. My 2005 was flawless for it's 100k+ miles that I owned it. Traded for the present 2016 in 2018 when they came out with the New Gen-6 like yours. Basically I know the Gen-5 mechanically. so that was an easy choice. However, my thoughts with the experience you have had with the Gen-6 you now have, and also really liking the Indian Chief... Personally I would likely also be looking at trading for the Indian. Especially while your Goldwing is new enough to hopefully get a better trade price. My biggest issue with the Indian Chief is that they apparently are no longer making the "Vintage" Chief! I really liked all the leather! Then there is the 2025 anniversary Goldwing to ponder too. I'm sure you'll make the best decision for your touring desires. What's most important is enjoying what you have and experiencing the great adventures we will have.
Thanks for your input and point of view- Touring is a beautiful on two wheels- I guess “wheel” see what that 50th anniversary edition will look like- and yes…that leather look on those vintage vibe Indians is incredible- We have a lot of thinking ( and complaining to do ) Thanks for your wisdom, expertise and support! See ya out there on the road
Sorry, that you have had bad luck with your Goldwing. I have had no problems with my 2021 DCT Tour. I would trade up for the 2025 Honda Goldwing DCT Tour if it has some of the high-tech upgrades that are talked about in the rumor mill.
Hey there- we are contemplating holding out for that 2025 and seeing what upgrades manifest in the upcoming anniversary edition- We are equally glad you have been trouble free and that you took time to view the video and write in- Sending continued luck 🍀 your way!!
Getting ready to trade my Rebel 1100 DCT for a new Goldwing DCT and I've watched dozens of channels about functionality and just about everything. I would say just trade in for a new Goldwing. I traded in a Harley Road Glide that I did the lemon law on because in 2 years it was in the shop I think over 60 days for the same reason. Hopefully I don't have any trouble with the Goldwing...but at least they are doing these recalls at their expense IMO
You are right about the expense being on Honda’s behalf and it’s good to see the manufacturer stepping up! Our issues aren’t with the company customer service- but there are design and manufacturing that can’t be overlooked- How did HD treat you? What was your experience- Honda has been awesome with warranty and safety recall coverage- But it’s not awesome having a touring that might not make it outta the driveway 😵💫😂 Sending luck for your new ride- Stay in touch and thanks for weighing in! Stay safe out there-
Hi there- You're right- And thanks for watching and asking: We didn't get into specifics about this recall, as the video direction is more about our decision making at this time- This particular new recall, which isn't even truly rolled out yet... Honda will be sending letters in January regarding a potential engine bolt failure which can snap and grenade the motor- Prior there was a software issue, causing engine shutdown- we did a video about that one here: ruclips.net/video/_wd_wnlyHz0/видео.htmlsi=Zi519bMSyL8AdKww then there was also the feul pump failure recall we covered here: ruclips.net/video/dND0uV62EAU/видео.htmlsi=nP5u0YjAXDJa5I47
We have been waiting and watching, sifting through rumor after rumor and weighing against different patents filed by Honda- We did a coupla videos about these leaked patents, but one we feel may be included in ‘25 is Radar Adaptive Cruise Control, amongst other items- Really curious about what they’ll unveil! Thx for asking and taking time to watch and comment-
I have a 2019 manual transmission Goldwing, you mentioned you are going through the third recall. Besides the bolt recall and the fuel pump what was the third recall for? Great video's
Thx for watching and asking - The first recall which is missing from your above ☝️ list is a software recall that affected manuals- with a 2019 you weren’t affected- We did a video about it way back when- and we were the first folks in the US to report it to Honda- “lucky us” 😂 ruclips.net/video/_wd_wnlyHz0/видео.htmlsi=GvJ50uP5lOiUk6D3
Just watched the video you sent, thanks. I have to agree with you, with the problems Honda is having it gets you thinking about alternatives. Just hope this will be the last issue with these bikes. Take care, keep the video's coming, you guys do a great job
@@markkuczajda3012 so grateful for your kind and encouraging words. We so enjoy the Goldwing community- and really dig connecting with folks over our mutual admiration for a fine machine- but we have been thru the wringer with this bike- thanks for watching the other video- We are 5 subs away from 1000- we hope we make it soon!! Wish us luck - thx agn
I guess people don't understand right after covid things changed. Workers got laid off, and a lot of over staff people put these motorcycles together.you don't have the skilled leveled engineers and techs that assembled these new bikes the same.
Thank you for voicing this very valid point- We chat about this often in our personal conversations regarding our situation. The time of this bike purchase was not optimal in the landscape of what was happing globally at the time. You are very right, in our opinion. Thank you for taking time to watch and write in- We appreciate it
Thanks for watching and writing- sometimes we wish the Goldwing was a little louder…are in the minority? Although, I’m sure the neighbors appreciate the lack of sound… especially when it’s KSU before 8am! 😂 But we do also have other bikes that make some noise :)
Talk to honda and tell them you want to switch to a new one. Thats what o would do. Ive got friends with the other brands and some have lost a whole riding season waiting for repairs. Others that have the same unit and have good luck. There are lemons out there. Dump em fast. Yours is a 2021. Warrenty is done. Trade for a 2024. .
Thanks for your advice, it's definitely something we're considering! We are also curious 👀 about 2025 and the 50th anniversary edition that’s upcoming… When life hands you lemons… Ride a different bike 😂 Thx for watching the video and taking time to comment-
Wow! So sorry to hear about this- sometimes we can get dealt a bad hand. That’s insane- You have our sympathy and empathy- Whatcha riding now? And thank you for watching and writing in- we truly appreciate your time-
Honda is not the company it use to be. My Wing is a 2018 Tour 6MT bought in 2019 with 1 mile on it. I also got it $10k off msrp. So I can put up with some of Hondas stupidity now days. Hondas quality has dropped so low I've stopped buying Honda cars. And it looks like this Wing will be the last Honda motorcycle. For the time being I'll keep it. But it's not my only motorcycle. And I always have my peepers open for the next purchase.
We definitely agree with your opinion of Honda on the whole- Glad you were able to get yours for cheaper! We too have a few other bikes we can ride- but it doesn’t help us feel better about our personal purchase- we’ve had a lotta hiccups w this machine- We are so grateful you watched and took time to comment with your personal experience- thx 🙏
We do have Harleys 😅 And they had those AMF years…🤣 Good Reputations take a long time to build but can crash quickly… We really had looked forward to this gen 6 but felt disappointed ☹️ The world and manufacturing is changing- Thank you for checking the video and taking a moment to connect with us- What are you riding these days?
I’ve had many wings I’m 75 never had a problem one .
so happy you have had a great experience with your Goldwing- we love the bike and the brand- but we have an unusual story .... been in the shop too many times- bummer!
We hope you have many miles of trouble free riding ahead of you-
Thank You so much for sharing you Tiger “tale”-
Appreciate you watching and writing-
My last five big bikes for long distance touring have been 86 Venture, 2004, BMW K 1200 LT, 2002 Yamaha midnight Venture, 2002, GL 1800 gold wing- and finally, my current machine I went back to my third Yamaha royal star venture.
Wow! We appreciate your professional point of view-
We think you have an awesome bike there-
Certainly another ballpark when working on it yourself-
In the past we worked on our own stuff-
But with the Goldwing it is too expensive to risk breaking plastic…
Thank u for connecting and we will have to check out your channel-
We look forward to it
Thx for supporting us by watching and writing-
I have my 2014 for sale and ordered a 2025 for my 70th birthday.
Thank you for checking out the video and sharing your thoughts-
Wishing you many miles and smiles-
I purchased a 2024 Tour DCT in February and glad I did. Hopefully no new recalls past today. Thanks for your thoughts.
Thx for your time and your thoughts- we appreciate it- let’s all hope we’re good
I just bought my new to me 2018 Goldwing this past summer…my 4th Goldwing…if I had known about this issue then, I would not have purchased it…but…it’s mine now and i’ll just get the recall done and hopefully not look back…this is the best bike i’ve ever owned and hope to continue loving it…ride safe
Enjoy that Goldwing and may it bring you many more miles of adventure-
You sound like a true Wing 🪽 fan- wow!
The more electrical, more the gadgetry, the more headaches to follow-
But when everything works, isn’t it so nice?
So sorry you guys are having all this trouble. You may have just got a bad lemon. I would trade it in and upgrade to a 2024 Gold Wing. You know you want one...😂
Well- 2025 is 50th anniversary year… hmmmm.
When life gives you lemons,
Trade it in!
@@MiddleAgeRoadRage
100%! Anniversary! Woohoo!
The Goldwing def fits your comment about high expectations-
Whatcha riding these days?
Just curious, if ya don’t mind sharing.
Thanks for watching and taking time to write-
Nice to connect with ya!
Moto Guzzi Eldorado 1400.
Congrats on your Road King-
We own an ‘02 RK and love it…
Boy, do we hear ya on that air filter situation! Yikes…
Hope you have years or trouble free miles on the HD RK!!
Oh yes, but sometimes there is no escaping it-
You’re right about used bikes- we’ve owned many trouble free ones-
Grateful for your time and input
I get your frustration. All I can think is that its a lemon unit? Like others have said, my 2018 DCT Tour has 50K miles and not a single problem, and I feel its just getting broken in. I do my own maintenance, so I learned how things work on the bike. I haven't had any of the recall stuff done, yet, but I'll get those taken care of when the dealer can do the UBS bolt replacement in January. If I were to change bikes, I think the Indian Challenger would be at the top of my list.
Thank you for watching and commenting-
The Challenger is a great bike!
We almost bought one in South Dakota -
Kudos to you for handling your own maintenance-
Yep - we think we have a lemon- 🍋
It’s a bummer for sure…
Glad your riding is trouble free!
Just had mine done took four days for my 2018 DCT from my local dealer small town dealer stated the biggest problem is just getting the bikes in to be able to get the VIN numbers off to order the parts not a big deal. It looks like.
We are glad to hear you’re all taken care of.
The list of issues on our bike, sadly is more than just recall issues-
So grateful you took the time to watch the video and to write in and let us know about your experience- Thanks !
Glad to hear you’re having a great experience with your Bagger- and you’re so right- we should all keep our heads up- We, having a manual, experienced a big issue the first recall, that is shown here:
ruclips.net/video/dND0uV62EAU/видео.htmlsi=nP5u0YjAXDJa5I47
We were the first in the US to report the above issue to Honda- and we almost ended up in a Lemon Law situation as our bike was in the shop 3X due to intermittent engine shutdown while riding- So we are not "panicking" - we are speaking from experience- Imagine being at speed on the highway and your engine just stopping....
Recently ours got stuck in reverse while on a big run with outer bikers...
Beyond that out particular bike has had many other maintenance hiccups -
but this is just our expeience- Glad yours is better
and keep the rubber side down!
Well… I have a 2023 GW with 0 issues so I’m going to ride it until the wheels fall off… I also have a 6 speed manual
Hurray for us manual Wingers! Glad to hear you’re having a good experience with yours. We are, however, in a very different spot.
It’s been in the shop several times for non recall related issues-
We just think we have a lemon-
Psyched for you…Bummed for us!
Poking the hornets nest among owners with no issues lol-
It’s not been perfection for us: Our first problem was at 400 miles on the odometer, with the engine shutting down on us while riding-
We were the first to report it to Honda, and the issue became recall.
We are glad you have had a trouble free experience-
As most Goldwing riders have had for 50 years-
We dare in the minority-
We have had numerous issues with ours- and we may be “victims” of a bad bike manufactured during Covid, when all businesses were challenged, between staffing and supplies -
It’s been quite an issue for us personally-
Again, happy your Wing 🪽 is wonderful-
Thanks you for taking time to watch and write a comment!!!
@@MiddleAgeRoadRage I hope everything gets resolved for you and that you can both enjoy this beautiful motorcycle again. 👍
We’ve owned several Hondas since 1982-
We are pretty sure we have a lemon-
It’s been in the shop numerous times, starting at only 400 miles on the odometer-
Our unit has have several issues- we were the first people in US to report an issue with engine shutdown- which eventually became recall number one: the software problem-
but each time Honda has stepped up to take care of us -
Recently our Goldwing was stuck in reverse on a road trip and took 30 minutes and sev shutoffs and restarts to clear-
We r sharing only the tip of the iceberg here- but we feel we do have a lemon-
Bummed as we love the Brand and the bike…
Anniversary model guys! That’s the great thing about life isn’t it? We can Sell, trade and buy what we want. Go for it! Keep us posted. Now keep smiling. Fun times await. Woohoo!
The big 50th- we def have our eye 👁️ on the the prize -
Here’s to freedom of choice!
But when you look at three recalls in three years plus all the extra trouble / shop visits we’ve had with ours, including the bike being stuck in reverse 300 miles from home in a tiny town, you start to think different-
Thanks for taking time to share your story and hope it keeps going well for you- Ride safe!
Just disagree with ya. Honda could just do nothing. But 8n my eyes they want to fix there problems
Well- thank u firstly for watching and commenting-
We appreciate hearing from our community- At just 400 miles on the odometer, the engine started intermittently cutting out and turning itself off during deceleration- we had it in the shop several times over this issue- Service dept couldn’t figure it out….
Honda ended up replacing the top end on our motor as they did want to lemon law…
and it turned out that this became a software recall as more customers experienced what we did, and we were the first folks in the US to experience and report it to Honda.
We’ve had several hiccups-
A big one that was annoying recently on a big road trip was the bike getting stuck in reverse-
So these are just things that have happened to us, beyond any type of reg maintenance-
We agree that Cruiseman offers great value with his video package-
We’ve simply have had way too much unusual and unique trouble with the machine-
Sad as we love the the brand and the bike-
Thx again
As far as replacing your goldwing for another model I just don’t think anything out there in the V-twin category can compare to that flat six-cylinder !
It’s true, the engine is a masterpiece, but with a couple recalls already this year, we’re starting to think it’s just not worth the hassle.
There’s not doubt that the flat six is the smoothest engine today-
BMW’s K1600 is nothing to laugh at-
Neither are some of the HDs and Indians for that matter…
The Indian Pursuit runs about 10,000 more than the Wing and if automatic is your thing you may be waiting for a long time.
I would trade it in for a new one my 2005 never has trouble I was going to trade it in for a new one but to many stories like this so I will just keep riding it.
That might be the best idea-
We are big Gen 5 fans!
Glad you’ve had so many trouble free miles -
And we’re also glad you took the time to watch and write in …
If it was me, i would go back to a before 2018 model,.
Those Gen 5s… we r big fans-
We r currently curious about the upcoming 50th anniversary Wing…
Thanks for writing and watching- grateful you took the time to connect.
Make sure the frame is not cracked and wheels not corroded..Swinging arms and exhausts corrode etc etc.I could go on .Richard
yall need to trade up to a 24 DCT Tour ive had mine since april and have had 0 problems
Hi thanks for watching and writing-
Glad you’ve had no issues with yours-
We are curious to see what the 2025 model is all about….
Hello there- Thank you for watching and writing- always good to hear from our community-
There is truth to what you’re saying-
For us personally, in addition to three recalls in three years, all having to do with resulting engine failure, plus all the other problems this bike of ours has had, just a sort tarnished the reputation we had in heads about the bike being better-
Honda has stepped up in all recall and warranty situations tho-
Recently we had a lot of down time on a trip with our bike stuck in reverse- that was no fun- and it’s been in for several other reasons-
But this is simply our personal experience- thx again!
69,000+ miles on My '18 GW DCT Bagger only Know of two (Fuel pump for 2024 & Bolt notice to go out in January 2025) If I'm missing One Let Me Know Please!
Yes- when we in 2021, the first recall we experienced was for 6 speed manuals only; a stop sale and required maintenance visit to fix a software glitch-
In fact, we were the first people to report the problem.
Thx for watching and writing in-
We appreciate it…
Here’s to more miles in 2025!
What would you guys do? Tired of so many #motorcyclerecalls on the #hondagoldwing
Wish we could say the same-
We were keeping some for the 50th anniversary bike in 2025- hoping to see upgrades-
Thanks for watching and taking time to comment and keep the rubber side down !
Yeah, recall after recall. I would get another bike. I can only imagine your frustration, especially with a new bike.
This experience certainly has not been as carefree as we imagined it would be.
Hoping you guys are doing well…
I have a 2018 DCT over 50,000 miles on it Only had one recall so far and the boat will be the second I'm just glad Honda is looking out after me I've been lucky so far I still running the same battery only change tires oils and brakes and I will never go back.
Glad to hear your experience has been so positive! You’re living the dream in contrast to our lil nightmare-
We’ve had trouble free Hondas our whole lives-first one back in ‘82- and many since-
Ironically, the particular Honda model that supposed to be trouble free has given us the most trouble -
But yes- glad they are stepping up-
And glad you’re staying positive-
Thanks for taking time to watch and share your experience- ride safe out there-
I dumped my almost 2 years ago and never looked back
These types of issues can push some of us over the edge-
Hope you’re happier now and you don’t have as many “bumps” in the road with your situation as we are having with ours-
Grateful you took the time to let us know what’s going on with you and watching the video-
Dang ! Sorry you guys are going through this with your Goldwing , these are such great bikes . Good thing Honda is stepping up to help. I came close to trading my 2017 this summer for a new Goldwing but mine has been such a great bike I have almost 47000 on her and she really seems to be getting better and better so I guess I’ll just continue to ride her , thanks for what you do , ride on 👍😎
It sounds like you’ve been blessed with a great bike- we are big Gen 5 fans ourselves-
Yep-we may have a lemon- a big, black lemon 🍋 🏍️🖤🖤
Thank you for being kind in your comments- we really love our moto community and are so appreciative to connect w folks like yourself-
Here’s to to more miles and smiles…
That’s not you normally hear when people talk about the Goldwing. Guess they all can’t be winners.
You’re right- and it is so disappointing- but thx for sharing the pain- and watching
We've been getting similar feedback from folks with older Wings as well- those great machines certainly aren't immune to issues -
We do agree with you that it is hard to find a bike equal to a Goldwing but the BMW is a very good choice.
And, yes, we/they almost lemon lawed us- we shd revisit that before we make our decision-
We are also super curious 👀 about the 50th anniversary release…
So grateful you took time to watch and share you thoughts 💭
Thank you!
@@MiddleAgeRoadRage So yesterday I was at the Honda dealership (getting state inspection) and they told me that Honda has issued a "stop sell" for the Goldwing. Meaning that even if the GW is on the showroon floor, they cannot sell anyone a GW.
I think you need the 25th Anniversary Goldwing 👍🏻
Next year is the Gold Anniversary- 50 years will hopefully bring us some sweet upgrades-
Hope all
Is well in your world-
I have a 2021 goldwing too.
Agree on colors!
Thanks for your input and point of view-
Touring is a beautiful on two wheels-
I guess “wheel” see what that 50th anniversary edition will look like- and yes…that leather look on those vintage vibe Indians is incredible-
We have a lot of thinking ( and complaining to do )
Thanks for your wisdom, expertise and support!
See ya out there on the road
Wow 😮😢 good luck - whatever you decide- keep us in the loop?
We will! Thanks for tuning in!
Sorry, that you have had bad luck with your Goldwing. I have had no problems with my 2021 DCT Tour. I would trade up for the 2025 Honda Goldwing DCT Tour if it has some of the high-tech upgrades that are talked about in the rumor mill.
Hey there- we are contemplating holding out for that 2025 and seeing what upgrades manifest in the upcoming anniversary edition-
We are equally glad you have been trouble free and that you took time to view the video and write in-
Sending continued luck 🍀 your way!!
Our issues aren’t with the company customer service- but there are design and manufacturing that can’t be overlooked-
How did HD treat you? What was your experience-
Honda has been awesome with warranty and safety recall coverage-
But it’s not awesome having a touring that might not make it outta the driveway 😵💫😂
Sending luck for your new ride-
Stay in touch and thanks for weighing in!
Stay safe out there-
Get the new 2025 Gold Wing!
Well- it IS on our radar!
Thanks for the suggestion-
Do u plan on getting one?
Thx for watching and writing btw
What was the recall for? You didn't say.
Hi there- You're right- And thanks for watching and asking:
We didn't get into specifics about this recall, as the video direction is more about our decision making at this time- This particular new recall, which isn't even truly rolled out yet... Honda will be sending letters in January regarding a potential engine bolt failure which can snap and grenade the motor- Prior there was a software issue, causing engine shutdown- we did a video about that one here:
ruclips.net/video/_wd_wnlyHz0/видео.htmlsi=Zi519bMSyL8AdKww
then there was also the feul pump failure recall we covered here:
ruclips.net/video/dND0uV62EAU/видео.htmlsi=nP5u0YjAXDJa5I47
2025 is the Goldwing’s 50th anniversary. Is something new coming out?
We have been waiting and watching, sifting through rumor after rumor and weighing against different patents filed by Honda-
We did a coupla videos about these leaked patents, but one we feel may be included in ‘25 is Radar Adaptive Cruise Control, amongst other items-
Really curious about what they’ll unveil!
Thx for asking and taking time to watch and comment-
As consumers we have certain expectations from certain companies-
Frustrating!
Agreed- thanking you for your empathy- thx for commenting and connecting
I have a 2019 manual transmission Goldwing, you mentioned you are going through the third recall. Besides the bolt recall and the fuel pump what was the third recall for? Great video's
Thx for watching and asking -
The first recall which is missing from your above ☝️ list is a software recall that affected manuals- with a 2019 you weren’t affected-
We did a video about it way back when- and we were the first folks in the US to report it to Honda- “lucky us” 😂
ruclips.net/video/_wd_wnlyHz0/видео.htmlsi=GvJ50uP5lOiUk6D3
Just watched the video you sent, thanks. I have to agree with you, with the problems Honda is having it gets you thinking about alternatives. Just hope this will be the last issue with these bikes. Take care, keep the video's coming, you guys do a great job
@@markkuczajda3012 so grateful for your kind and encouraging words.
We so enjoy the Goldwing community- and really dig connecting with folks over our mutual admiration for a fine machine- but we have been thru the wringer with this bike- thanks for watching the other video-
We are 5 subs away from 1000- we hope we make it soon!!
Thank you for taking time to watch and write in- We appreciate it
Do you really want to go back to the noise?
Thanks for watching and writing- sometimes we wish the Goldwing was a little louder…are in the minority?
Although, I’m sure the neighbors appreciate the lack of sound… especially when it’s KSU before 8am!
😂
But we do also have other bikes that make some noise :)
We are also curious 👀 about 2025 and the 50th anniversary edition that’s upcoming…
When life hands you lemons…
Ride a different bike 😂
Thx for watching the video and taking time to comment-
You hate recalls? Don't ever buy a bmw. Mine was bought back it was so bad. I owned it 9 months, 8 of those in the shop. Less than 1000 miles.
Wow! So sorry to hear about this- sometimes we can get dealt a bad hand.
That’s insane-
You have our sympathy and empathy-
Whatcha riding now?
And thank you for watching and writing in- we truly appreciate your time-
44,000 miles on my 1250RS. No problems
We definitely agree with your opinion of Honda on the whole-
Glad you were able to get yours for cheaper!
We too have a few other bikes we can ride- but it doesn’t help us feel better about our personal purchase- we’ve had a lotta hiccups w this machine-
We are so grateful you watched and took time to comment with your personal experience- thx 🙏
Sound like you guys might of got yourself's a lemon .
Now we’re thirsty for lemonade
#life
Thx for checking it out and checking in…
Buy a Harley. Honda is over rated. Build their reputation on the pass. No longer what they once were
We do have Harleys 😅
And they had those AMF years…🤣
Good Reputations take a long time to build but can crash quickly…
We really had looked forward to this gen 6 but felt disappointed ☹️
The world and manufacturing is changing-
Thank you for checking the video and taking a moment to connect with us-
What are you riding these days?
No, I think Harleys are overrated if any brand !
