Thanks for sharing I've just searched for this because I'm doing my sons first omnipod change! Going to travel up to his dads now n play this while doing it, so helpful thankyou! ❤
Hi Jen. Thank you for this video. I am about to go on the Omni Pod 5 with Dexcom 6 system. I have been using tubed pumps for ~23 yeast now and the current setup is not working for me. My Endocrinologist believes that the OmniPods algorithms will make a huge difference for me. I am super excited now after watching your video. This is going to be a huge game changer for me!!
I am currently waiting for a referral appointment to come through. My Diabetes Consultant has referred me for a pump, hopefully the "Omnipod 5" i have no idea what happens next, i'm in Peterborough UK. loved your tutorial, you made it look easy.
Jen!!! This video could not have come at a better time for me haha! My friend had leftover omnipod supplies and gave me some to try - just for fun! I'm totally following your tutorial now to put in my first pod :)
Not sure what cream you're using. Many people know EMLA, but LMX4 is much faster working and it often the standard in pediatric ICUs. it's 4% Lidocaine.
Thank you for your video, very helpful as this is new for my mother as she's been diabetic for 30 years and is starting to have problems controlling her sugar. I'm praying this helps. Thank you again
Hey Jen, thank you for your video. You did a great job explaining. I've been using t:slim pump for a few years and met someone at the shop who uses Omnipod so I wanted to look into it. I'm up to 7:58 in your video so forgive me if you cover this later, but when you inserted the syringe to the omnipod you didn't show where and I'd love to see the side of the Omnipod where you inserted this. Thank you! x
Congratulations for your video Jen!! This equipment is really good. If you have the opportunity to have one, congratulations! Here in Brazil the cost is very high. It costs ~ U $ 650 to import. But it should be accessible to all diabetics. I'm using freestyle libre here. When I travel to England I want to buy Omnipod. I will make it and I will have a better life with diabetes!
Unfortunately it’s not that easy here. You’re not able to just buy it directly. 😢 I’m saying that as personal experience as I wanted to buy a pack to try and see if I like them. They require a letter from a UK endocrinologist (from the hospital) that confirms they’re happy for you to use it (even if you’re paying for it yourself.) The kit is also quite expensive. £250 for the PDM (unless you can get a second hand one from somewhere) and then 10 pods that last you a month max are £250 as well. Unless you meant $650 for 10 pods to import? In which case that is very expensive! Even worse than our cost! 😢
Is the Omni pod available on the NHS? I use the Medtronic minimed paradigm thingy. Love having an insulin pump, but I'm a bit jealous of your no wires! I'm forever hooking mine on door handles.
Thanks for this video Jen. My amazing Doctor Maya Hardman walked me through this whole process but I think I was a bit mystified about where I can put the pump. It seems like the Omnipod can go almost anywhere!
I have been using the Freestyle Libre 2 now for just over two months and doing four injections every day. Not too sure about using a pump at the moment.
I had been putting close to 200-250 units in my TSlimX2, but I normally use between 90-115 over a 3 day period. I would then pull out the remaining insulin and transfer it, plus a bit of new insulin, into the new cartridge. But, I found that after 2 or 3 cycles, the insulin would start not working effectively (body heat over 9-10 days right next to the insulin pump since I wear it right next to me), so I'd have to waste nearly 100 units every 10 days. A bit of a problem given the insulin situation in the US, so now I put closer to 130 or so in, and after the 12 units needed to fill the tubing, that gets me close to what I need for 3 days.
I have a hard time changing my tandem pump due to being too nervous to squeeze the applicator and it can take me an hour to finally get it in. Would you say applying the omnipod is less stressful?
hi, does it actually inject insulin when your sugar is high or do I need to click on app? is there an automatic regulating so I don't have to change my doses??
How do you like wearing your Dexcom on your arm? That's usually where I have mine, even before it was "approved." (Dexcom adhesive reacts badly with my abdomen... The pump adhesive does not, so I often stick those there.)
Hello I saw the video I’m scare to put the pump I being diabetic since I was 13 and now I’m 59 my Ac1 is high and it go up and down and I’m scare to use the pump went the frist one came out they wanted me and I said no and now the asking me to put it on but I don’t understand to count my carbohydrates
I wear mine on my arm. I would speak to your doctor but mine recommended that as a possible spot. I know people also do thigh but I have scar tissue there so that is a no go for me at least
I can't speak for her but maybe I could give my experience. Having been on several pumps and gone back and forth using needle injections (American insurance issues, etc.) I can say that the pumps are worth so much more faff than the omnipod requires. I was on a very early model of insulin pump that required daily changes and was way more complicated and even still was worth all the hassle. I know now that there is even a pump, the Tandem, that can pair with the Dexcom G6 that will alter insulin feeds to adjust blood sugars. Genuinely pumps are amazing and save on scar tissue build up. I highly recommend them. But as with all things talk to your doctor, see a pump educator, see different site examples, and make a decision that works best for you. I love mine and my daughter will be getting her first one soon. Wish you the best on whatever decision you make!
My daughter has been on the Omnipod for 3 years. She doesn't have alot of body fat so she uses her arms ALOT. She now has really bad intentions. Asked the doctors what it was. No one could tell us. Even an Omnipod rep hadn't seen it before. Finally one Omnipod rep was at the office during one of our visits and said it was atrophy (sp?)..... Has anyone else experienced this or know if this is correct. It looks horrible. She will sadly have to stop using them.
If she knows she doesn’t use that much insulin, it would be a waste of insulin to do that because you can’t extract insulin from the pod once it expires.
Could you Pease 🙏 make a tutorial on how to put the syringe in the insulin vile and to take it out and put in the pod I’m struggling with that so could you Please 🙏 make a tutorial
Very helpful to watch someone go through a pod change even when the steps on the iphone app were straightforward. On pod #2! Thanks a bunch!
THANK YOU, JEN! I was so nervous doing it on my own alone for the first time lol and your video really helped me out! Again, THANK YOU!!
Video was great. As a new user you guided me through my first change. Thank you. ❤
Thanks Jen. You just walked us through our first change pod action. God Bless 😇
Starting Omnipod Dash 5 on Thursday. Really nervous but SOOO excited!!
Thank you for this. So good of you to share your experience with this system and how the pod change goes. Bless your heart!

Wait so im probably understanding this wrong but do you have diabetes or no because you said to try for fun
Thanks for that. Put my first omnipod on 3 days ago and need to switch right now. This helped me feel reassured about the steps
Great tutorial, ( right two the point ) can't wait to try the OMNI POD THANK YOU ! Jen
Nathan hates the clicky bit waiting on it springing in! We always use a numbing cream also as we always try to lessen the feeling for him.
Not sure what cream you're using. Many people know EMLA, but LMX4 is much faster working and it often the standard in pediatric ICUs. it's 4% Lidocaine.
I’m brand new to this and still confused lol. Tysm for You’re very helpful video!
Thanks for that, very helpful! Am starting with my first one tomorrow! I could smell your video when you cleared bubbles from the syringe. 😅
I just put in a order for an omnipod5 now I'm just waiting now thanx for the tips
Thank you for your video, very helpful as this is new for my mother as she's been diabetic for 30 years and is starting to have problems controlling her sugar. I'm praying this helps. Thank you again
Me too! Omnipod is the only pump i've tried but I also really like it! Thank you Omnipod.

Most excellent. This helps me out because I didn't have anyone to show me how to use this. Thank you Jen!

Excellent Video, Jen. Thanks for sharing this. :).

Hello Jen l watch your video how to change the pop .it was helpful to change my first one thank you .l live in Long Island NY 😊
I have been using the Freestyle Libre 2 now for just over two months and doing four injections every day. Not too sure about using a pump at the moment.
jen thank you so much its been about 5 years since i wore a pod. i still have the same PDM (the old one) i pray it works. qt?? can you bolus ?
hi, if you work out on your abdominals muscle in the gym does it actually pain you where your pod is?
I had been putting close to 200-250 units in my TSlimX2, but I normally use between 90-115 over a 3 day period. I would then pull out the remaining insulin and transfer it, plus a bit of new insulin, into the new cartridge. I think that the best way of doing it, just put in what you need really. No waste them and no insulin deterioration 😊
I enjoyed this video very much
Hey Jen I am in Canada going onto my 3 rd pump and changing to omnipod Eros cause my province only covers that one
My son has used this wireless pump since 2014. We are hoping for the pump & PDM (automatic without fingers poke ) 2 in 1 instead of Dexcom
What phone do you need to buy to connect to it
I’m switching to this pump because a wireless pump and waterproof pump sounds perfect
Do you ever use the extra tape to secure the pod? I know they have several types and I was wondering if you had any experience with them.
What is the insulin type that they allow?
Nova rapid etc?
I used to have that Omnipod but now I have the Omnipod Dash
I am considering the change to omni pod from medtronic
Do you find it bulky ?
So it’s kinda like putting on the Dexcom g6
From where can I get on iPod and the pump. To donate a hold 13 years old
I have a hard time changing my tandem pump due to being too nervous to squeeze the applicator and it can take me an hour to finally get it in. Would you say applying the omnipod is less stressful?

Is it harmful to insert air bubbles in your body?
Can you lay on it without discomfort I’m a side sleeper
I'm not on omnipod yet but the cgm and pump that I am on I have put on my boob. It don't hurt at all. But I think the omnipod might be a bit to big.
How much do they cost
Are you wearing your Dexcom on your arm? I am using the Dexcom but thought it was only to wear on your belly or back. Help!
I wear mine on my arm. I would speak to your doctor but mine recommended that as a possible spot. I know people also do thigh but I have scar tissue there so that is a no go for me at least
Quite helpful
Are they affordable
Now you have been on these for a while would you go back to needles?
Is it marginally better barely worth the faff or is it a revelation for you?
I can't speak for her but maybe I could give my experience. Jen, you mean 85

Why don’t you just put in 200 just in case? Surely always better to have more than not enough?
If she knows she doesn’t use that much insulin, it would be a waste of insulin to do that because you can’t extract insulin from the pod once it expires.
O
There are six clicks then the needle goes in
