    This week I have some orders for flower jars and I thought I could show you how I arrange them with the best flowers and foliage from the cutting garden. There are so many lovely flowers you can choose mid summer and the foliage is at the stage you can cut it for arranging too. As I arrange the flowers I will talk about my conditioning tips and extra things you can choose to help make an arrangement pop like grasses and seed pods. I hope you enjoy seeing how all the flowers in the garden come together to make an arrangement.

      Thank you, yes they were so different that it is far too hard to choose! Looking forward to doing some different arrangements with the autumn flowers just starting to come along now. Although things in the garden are moving that way I feel we need some sunshine first to feel like we have had a summer!

    Beautiful arrangements. Hope you get some sun soon. We are on the dry side here in Canada where I am. Battling smoke and haze from the northern fires still going on. That’s how our summer had been. Flowers are doing not too bad.

    • @cloudberryflowers-flowerfarm
      @cloudberryflowers-flowerfarm  Год назад

      Hello, thank you. That is tough. Are you finding that it is getting drier with more fires over recent years in Canada? Do the flowers get badly affected by the smoke?

    • @rosebud447
      @rosebud447 Год назад

      @@cloudberryflowers-flowerfarm Yes, every year we get these Forrest fires and they say they will only get worse due to climate change. Flowers are not affected by the smoke. Thank goodness for that.

      Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed this one. Feverfew is a great one to grow. I need to get sowing some new seeds of that now as some of my feverfew are getting a few years old now and less productive. It’s always good to have new stock coming through and always have some feverfew each year.

    Hi from Australia. We're just starting an early spring by the look of my almond tree. Blossoms fully out a few weeks early for me.
    Thanks for this video.
    Both posies are gorgeous.
    The blue white purples is the one I'd take home though.

    Beautiful arrangements. Could you possibly do a quick video on how you cut your Cosmos from the actual plant as I always struggle to know where to cut and my flowers are a bit short. I think I’m maybe not cutting down deep enough as my stems are so thin and fragile.

      Thanks for watching this week 😊 That is a good idea, I will do a quick video on that this Friday to show you where I cut. To get the longer stem length coming back you do need to cut fairly deeply.

    Those flowers are gorgeous! Do you ever have problems with bugs in your flowers? Sometimes I have that issue and I don't want bugs in my house😬😄

    • @Marie0306
      @Marie0306 Год назад

      I am having the same issue particularly this summer with the wet and humid weather here in Ireland. I find lots of tiny black flies especially on my snapdragons,would they be thrips? Then I don’t want to bring them inside. I love your arrangements Catherine.😀

    • @cloudberryflowers-flowerfarm
      @cloudberryflowers-flowerfarm  Год назад +1

      Bugs can be a problem. I do use my organza bags more and more on flowers to keep the bugs out. Thrips have been a problem for me on white dahlias so the bags go on those. Pollen beetles were a problem earlier in the season. To help prevent bringing them in the house I would cut the flowers and condition in buckets in the dark garage but keep it open a bit for a light source for them to fly towards. This year though it’s the constant rain damaging the petals more than the bugs that is causing me problems.

    • @cloudberryflowers-flowerfarm
      @cloudberryflowers-flowerfarm  Год назад +1

      It’s so frustrating when you have lovely perfect flowers getting covered in lots of bugs. If they are tiny black bugs they could be thrips. The only way I have managed successfully to tackle bugs is with organza bags but it doesn’t make a pretty garden to look unfortunately!

      Thanks so much for watching this week. The phlox I start off early spring in March. I love it but haven’t worked out how to grow it here to get longs stems.
