  • Flower farmer and florist Georgie Newbery takes you through the whole process of making twenty matching jam jar posies for a fundraising dinner in aid of Ukraine. You may think the simple jam jar posy the most basic starter floristry skill... or you can watch this clip and see that a few clever tips will transform your little jars of flowers into real gorgeousness with which to create a great scheme for any kind of event, from wedding, to fund raising dinner. From tips with ribbons, kinds of jars, stem count, balance, to considering the space available, Georgie has made thousands of jam jar posies in her career, and even has an opinion about transporting and the best containers. On the subject of containers... just see what she does with string and a container when there are short stems to be cut.

Thank you and all of those who support Ukraine!
I am Ukrainian, and I stayed home. I cannot express how much your help and support means to us.
I am not a florist, but I really enjoyed all your videos just for your positivity and amazingly beautiful bouquets! Also, I would like to thank you for all the handy tips and information. This year we are trying to grow more produce (our part of the country is relatively safe), hoping to help with food for the displaced families.
This video is the first one I watched since the beginning of the war. Knowing that we have so many friends - makes the way easier. The light will win over darkness. Thank you!

I'm sorry to be slow to reply - I wanted to take a little while to think before saying anything - I'm so touched that with all that's going on you took the time to make a comment on this post and am very glad we've been able to help even in a tiny way - we also sent a day's takings to Unicef Ukraine and I'm sure there'll be more that we can do as time passes.
BEST wishes, and you are all very much in our thoughts xxx

Thank you so much - and to answer your question, no I don't. I cut them straight into a bucket of water, leave them to condition a while and then use them same day in a bouquet. Hope this helps x
