      No actual steam. More of a “heat cap”

    So this is actually a “heat cap.” There is no steam at all. I’ve owned a heat cap for many years. I want an actual steamer, so this video was very helpful in letting me know this isn’t what I’m looking for.

    • @Doctormycurls
      @Doctormycurls  2 года назад +9

      Thanks for watching! Yep there is no actual “steam” with this one. It’s called a steam cap but it’s more of a heat cap that produces some steam inside your shower cap but no excessive steam to the point where it’s visible to the naked eye.

    • @kismetwilliams4447
      @kismetwilliams4447 2 года назад +6

      Right! I've been using heat caps all my life and that's what this is not a steam cap, I've had steamers also and steamers have actual steam coming out, if it doesn't require you to install water it's not a steamer Js

    I tried to order one of these in December during their Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale. After almost two weeks I didn't have any shipping or order information. I contacted customer service and it took almost five days for them to respond to me. It was giving scam vibes so I cancelled my order. I really, really, REALLY wanted to get this cap and support this company. I'm still on the market for a good steam cap.

    Hey thanks please clarify something to me - is this the one that has light an electric metal heating coil inside at the bottom underneath that plastic. I justrealized i have 1 but thought its not a steam cap but a heating cap. Is it a steam cap.or heating cap? .there is a difference you know😊

    • @Doctormycurls
      @Doctormycurls  Год назад +1

      Heyyy. As mentioned in the video this one does not produce steam that is visible. The “steam” is moreso from the heat. The company has it named steamcap which is how I reference it in the video but if you watch the video you will see there is no steam it just produces heat.

  • @ssank
    @ssank 2 года назад +2

    How does the steam get to the hair when you are using two caps to cover it? The hair gets only the heat from the cap, unless I am missing something about the process.

    • @Doctormycurls
      @Doctormycurls  2 года назад +4

      No you’re correct. It’s more heat and not “steam” the inside gets hot and locks in the moisture.

    How this difficult from using hair dryer?

    • @Doctormycurls
      @Doctormycurls  2 года назад +2

      Good question- this cap adds heats and allows the moisture to remain locked in. A hair dryer is applied directly to the hair would dry the hair vs adding steam and trapping in the moisture. When I take this cap off my hair is still soaking wet whereas if I just ran a dryer over it (with no shower cap) it would be drying.

    I don't understand, what is the difference between this and a regular heating cap?

    • @Doctormycurls
      @Doctormycurls  Год назад +1

      This acts VERY similar to a regular heat cap. There isn’t a difference really. This is called steam cap but I would say no actual steam is produced. So maybe not the best name for this product TBH lol

  • @darealgem1
    @darealgem1 2 года назад

    Is this supposed to heat up or just be warm because I didn't thing it was warm enough. And it certainly didn't do an auto-turnoff. although I see they are different brands

    • @Doctormycurls
      @Doctormycurls  2 года назад +1

      So this specific brands cap doesn’t heat up to the point where it’s extremely hot to touch. But it does enough heat to allow your product to get deeper into the hair shaft. I would assume other brands may be a tad bit different. So sorry I can’t speak for other brands.

    • @Doctormycurls
      @Doctormycurls  2 года назад +1

      So this one doesn’t require water. You plug the cord in to an outlet, power it to high or low, put the cap over your head and as it heats it starts to work. There is no actual “steam” visible. Does this help?

  • @jblackshe1

  • @delorisjackson6882

    I don’t get why there’s no steam which is what it indicates 😟 and why shampoo hair twice, doesn’t make sense this process can be achieved with a shower cap and sitting under a regular salon hair dryer…. Or at home hood hair dryer, I personally regret my purchase of the Afro Steam Cap simply because it technically isn’t a steam cap….lesson learned I should have done more research before my purchase

    • @Doctormycurls
      @Doctormycurls  Год назад +1

      I agree the name of the cap should’ve been “heat cap” because that’s what it is. The 1st shampoo breaks up the product and oils etc the 2nd shampoo is the one that actually cleanses the hair/scalp. I enjoy the convenience of being able to move as I please while my cap is on vs sitting under a salon dryer.

    I ordered the full kit, $169.99 and this product is over priced for the quality. I'm disappointed bc it is cheap material and a regular hair dryer using a plastic cap hv the same results. If you want a steamer, invest in a stand alone hooded steamer and not this ridiculous, cheaply made item. Don't waste your money

    • @Doctormycurls
      @Doctormycurls  2 года назад +2

      The full kit? What else did you get for $169? My cap isn't cheaply made and I appreciate the convenience of simply applying it and powering it on then going about my day vs having to hold a dryer over a plastic cap. That is just my personal opinion. As for me it's definitely worth it! I won mine in a giveaway, so I didn't pay for it but I have been loving it!
