I have a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer like yours red, 16” aluminum rims. I got mine with 50k miles, I now have 310k miles. My last trip to Billings, 320 miles I got 21.2 mpg on the road. I would recommend that you get a Haynes manual #24072. In February we picked up a 2013 GMC Terrain on the trip to Billings it made 24.2 mpg. I changed the spark plugs at 100k, 200k, & 300k I was told to only use AC Delco plugs. Your check engine light could be a loose fuel cap. Tighten it at least 3 clicks! One fourth of the time the wife does it, the CEL comes on. I tighten the gas cap, take my scanner tool to erase the light. Hello from north east Montana. 10 miles from the Canadian border.
It’s quite interesting seeing the differences in the interior between My 2002 LTZ and your 2002 LT. Mine has buttons on the steering wheel for various things, the front AC controls are displayed on a VFD with temperature control dials rather than sliders and have an automatic feature too, the rear AC controls are also fully independent (apart from temperature) and have a little display that shows the air zones the radio station because the rear console has radio controls and headphone jacks so rear seat passengers can listen to a different station than what the driver is listening to. Also I ripped the onstar antenna off the rear window.
Keep the sway bar links greased. 8 fittings all together. If the park brake doesn't work well, new shoes are easy & cheap. You have to pull the calipers to change them though. Tows a trailer nicely and the pigtail is there for a proportional brake controller. If the fuel cap gasket goes bad (or if the cap is loose) it will cause a light but no specific code.
I have an 02 LS bought it for 2100 cash with 122,000 miles on still have it after 4 years. And the SUV is a beast in the snow. I am going to be installing a custom flow master exhaust in the next month.
03 trailblazer LT , 187 k miles . love it best suv. the beach, snow light trailering. Had it loaded up with wood , compost all kinds of material Rides like a comfortable car
I have now had 3 Trailblazers. I wish I had kept the first 2! Love them! I have a 2005 now and I say, out loud, "I love this truck!" every time i get in it. The cubbyholes were best in the 2002. People still see it and offer to buy it all the time. Mine all have had heated seats with a "back only" button, which every vehicle should have for people with back trouble. I had no idea it was so rare!
You made a great choice my friend...I own a 2006 GMC Envoy which is basically the same vehicle.. a 1 owner vehicle....very happy with it...very reliable...they have minor BS problems .. mostly maintenance stuff
I love you Nathan, your an angel 😇. You just gave the best advice......pay cash for your car and don't get into dept. Your truck is just beautiful. My husband and I just switched over from the 2 odyssey's we had(to many replaced transmissions & sensors). We bought 2 2003 gmc envoy sle's and we love them. We're in New York so the winters are a bit sketchy. We were lucky to get them from the same dealer. We put down a deposit, came back and picked them up and he did all the dmv transactions. With this Corona pandemic, its impossible to do your paperwork without an appointment. The trailblazer & envoy are basically the same. Your going to love the ride. Anyway, lot's of luck with your gorgeous new edition. Your going to enjoy it. Peace and love.⛽⛽
I just bought a 2006 to replace my 2000 4runner that got T boned. Love it. The ride is so smooth, it has more power, and it has a good 4 wheel drive system. Ill quickly be putting a lift kit and some 32s on it and hit some trails.
I drive a 2002 Trailblazer LS. Pretty well put together vehicle. You'll probably need to replace the tie rods, ball joints, sway bar soon. Fan clutch, blower motor resistor, power steering lines starting to leak are pretty common issues as well. Clean your throttle body properly if you want to keep her running long term. 208,000 miles and still running decently.
I got rid of mine I put 224000 miles on it. They are very computer Reliant. Replaced every sensor on it at least 3 times. Replaced struts, front axle seal, rear trailer hitch they are called a funny name but those will rust out unless you give it attention. Mine started to leak antifreeze in with the oil and I possibly had a timing chain going bad. I also replaced the file pumps gas level sensor. Replaced fuel gauge stepper motor, and radiator. They will last you about 222000 then start acting up.
Love my 02 Trailblazer, currently getting the steering rack replaced long story, let's just say a certain bolt broke off in a bad spot while changing the lines. I love how quick it is too for its size. I got a 1000watt stereo system in mine hahaha

My trailblazer had about 86k when I got it and now has 132k miles not one issue yet kept up with standard maintenance and it has made me a Chevy fan.
Just realize that these vehicles are older, and will need some TLC from time to time. The older a vehicle gets, the more TLC it needs. I have a 2002 T'blazer EXT 2wd (third row seat, larger rear doors, and taller roof) with 188,000+ miles on her and love mine!
@@michaelwaller8252 I have a 06 ext 5.3. It’s my first vehicle, your right about the TLC part. But these trailblazers are mostly reliable. They are somewhat easy to work on, but I’m probably more mechanically inclined than the average 15 year old.
Fantastic truck, i have a black 07 LT with 201k miles. Fun fact, some of the Buick Ranier, the nicer version, came with rear air bag suspension and a hookup to an air compressor in that right cargo cabinet! I just pulled one out of a pick n pull and I’m gonna see how to hook it up to my trailblazer.
I have an '02 trailblazer as well(7 passenger)and I couldn't imagine owning another vehicle. I don't know of any recalls besides 2004-2009(If I remember correctly) and they handle amazing in snow and rough terrain. They are BEASTS at towing and just an amazing hard-working suv.
If you enjoy working on your truck regularly, you'll LOVE it. Good looking truck and the engine itself is damn near bulletproof, but I've had to replace almost everything else...pumps, alternator, starter, front end components on my O6. Still better than the new version of the Blazer that they came out with this year though.
I have an '04 Trailblazer LS EXT. The EXT means the extended 3 row seat model. An easy way to tell at a glance if the truck is a 2 or 3 row seat model is to look at the rear edge of the rear door. If the rear door ends at the beginning of the rear wheel well, it's a 3 row model. If the rear door ends about halfway into the rear wheel well, it's a 2 row model. Regarding the automatic 4 wheel drive feature, don't use it! The truck will be constantly shifting into and out of 4WD. That's tough on the components. If you need 4WD, use 4HI. Only use 4LO to get out of a very low traction situation, then shift back into 4HI. When the snow melts and the streets clear up, go back to 2WD. And keep an eye on the fluids in the differentials and the transfer case, too. The feature of being able to open only the glass on the rear liftgate instead of the entire liftgate may seem to be a nice thing, but it's another feature you're better off not using. Open the entire liftgate instead. The reason is that the glass is bonded (translation: glued!) to the upper hinges, and opening the glass by itself puts stress on that glue joint. When it fails, it's about $1,000 to have that all replaced! I really like my TB!
I agree! The previous owner of mine had one of my rear glass hinges "reglued" because it separated from the glass. That rear glass is very expensive, especially on the EXT model!
Wow I didn't know that upper glass in the back is only GLUED? Crazy. Luckily I've only opened it once. hahaha. I just replaced the actuator for the door hinge switch in the tailgate - that's an easy repair to do for an anti-mechanical person like me. haha.
Good deal man! I once owned a 1961 Chevy impala. It had a 283 in it, that blew up and we put a 307 in her. 3 speed on column, and I say we-- a friend did job. I helped with heavy part of job & being a grunt😊😃.
I just bought one today the three buttons in the front above the rear view mirror I was told you can push and it records whatever you want to say like a to-do list a reminder and you can play it back I have not tried it yet but I thought that was interesting mine was only $750 all leather totally loaded I was very blessed
If you ever get the cam/crank correlation dtc...its not the cam phaser or loose crank pulley bolt. Replace cam position sensor. I had a brand new 02 trailblazer LT but now an 08 LS with the 5.2 v8 4x4. Love the torque of the v8.
02 LTZ owner here. Had it about 5 yrs now. I bought it to tow a civic to race tracks without any intent on modding it I thought nobody in their right mind would ever mod this thing. Welp theres a small culture of TB modders out there and sure enough, i started wrenchin. Till this day I cant put the wrench down. Im on my 2nd set of lift - ultimately ended up with BDS 2 inch lift, fox rear shocks, 255/75r17 Yoko g015 AT. The thing runs awesome.
@@garyburbank8895 It is designed to tow a 6000 lb trailer, as long as you take the transmission out of overdrive and keep it at 65MPH or lower. If you tow a lot, I'd recommend adding an extra transmission oil cooler in front of the A/C condenser to keep trans temperatures cool. The biggest thing that kills these transmissions is heat and lack of trans oil/filter changes!
Pretty cool truck, I just brought a 02 trailblazer with 180,000 miles yesterday, it runs pretty good but the grand only thing I hate is that it has a lot of miles but the truck looks in mint condition and it looks like it's been taking care of pretty well
Don’t worry about the miles. These motors are pretty reliable and can last for a very long time. You hardly hear about these motors going through head gaskets. Biggest issue that you’ll definitely hear about is the electroviscous clutch fan. They are prone to failure and quite a bit pain in the butt to replace. It’s easier to get the pcm tuned and get a thermal clutch fan.
nice 02, mine is a 08 and I love the thing. Its my first car and my mom is worried about it, she thought the low tire pressure light was the transmission on it. I was a bit mad at her ignorance but beside the point it has 170k miles on it and I bought it for $4600, needs new tires and a few plastic pieces here and there. Went to a junkyard the other day and found a brand new air filter in one and got it for $3, got a new key fob from the same car since mine is worn down, happy with my junkyard finds.
The antenna on the left rear window is a cellphone extender, also used for GPS, and also used for OnStar. Your phone extender may still be analog. You have to take it to your cell phone provider to get it changed from an analog to a digital. My 2002 Trail Blazer now has 329,000 miles on it now! Original motor, transmission, transfer case, rear axle! Hello from north east Montana. 10 miles from the Canadian border.
that gives me hope at 267K with original motor and transmission, transfer case, rear axle, etc. Well I did just get new shocks and the rear coil springs so now the car is 2 inches higher over the ground. haha.
I had an 03 TB that I bought new and put 480,000 miles on. Got written off when I was rear ended by a Ram crew cab 4x4 diesel. LOVED my TB! So I went out and bought a used 08 Envoy which only has about 165k on it now - still a low miler! I'm despairing what to do if I have to get rid of it - I think I'll just keep fixing it regardless of the cost. I like these things that much! In 1.5 years I'll have been driving the TB/Envoy for 20 years!
I have an '05 Trailblazer LT 4x4 with about 130k miles. I had to get the transmission rebuilt at 90k. I had to have some of the ignition coils replace because of the shake rattle and roll it developed and check engine light. Make sure to go with OEM only. Now I have to get the cat converter replaced. But it's a very practical SUV for everyday driving.
Great, informative video compared to the others I have found on here regarding this suv..mostly kids showing off the exhaust sound..haha..Anyway, I'm looking to buy one to replace my 2005 Escape which is a 5-speed manual as I used to tow it flat behind my class A motorhome..it has 197K miles and the AC went out which here in the Fl heat is not good!! I may still keep the Escape to use as a toad but I'm ready for a better more comfortable daily driver!! BTW, My father was from Wva..small town called Hinton near Princeton/Beckley..family still owns some property in another old coal mining town called Mullens..yes all such prime real estate haha
Also put new clutch fan and water pump in it. New brakes, front suspension all new. Here in texas roads are super bad. A/c never been touch and its still blowing it tail off. Got my money out of it over and ovet. Great ride as well. Its the long wheelbase LT modle. Same color ext and interior as the video here. Just had her repainted . Texas heat is a ball buster .im way south by the ocean and no rust as well. 20yrs and still powerful as tho new. Good luck to you with your 02.

I just bought my 2002 trailblazer 131k miles first thing i did was change oil, transmission fluid and rear differential fluid no check engine light and it drives like a new car
Have a 03, with 130435 miles. Check the bottom of the back doors, they trap water, due to factory Running boards. Fix asap. Other then that, good truck.
Why do you need running boards? they are just more crap to cause problems! Mine didn't have that option, and if it did, they would have been the first things to come off of it!
As a mechanic I think there good cars upper control arm bolts seem to loosen up over time typical suspension prob usually upper ball joints the frame in the rear goes on them allot by the upper trailing arm I would buy one if it was clean

Nice!! I love mine!
I just bought a 2004 trailblazer it has 164,000 miles for 3500 very clean seats in the same condition as yours and no rust
I know right! Nice SUV Tho.
Nice!~!~
I bought my 04 Trailblazer for 2 grand and it preforms well for the age and its a joy to drive
Sweet!~!~
Have a 2005 and love it 206,000 mile still going strong
I bought a 2008 chevy trailblazer i had it year and half 116000 miles on it now i love the truck nice power and rides good
06 trailblazer with 2.5" lift 2" wheel spacers and 256/75/16 mud tires really sts mine apart from others. Love it. 150,000 and still going strong.
I like!!
03 trailblazer LT , 187 k miles . love it best suv. the beach, snow light trailering. Had it loaded up with wood , compost all kinds of material
Rides like a comfortable car
Yes it does!
These are probably the best budget 4x4 out there right now. Nowhere do you get more for your money. They seem to hold up really well too.
Right! ;D
I have the 2005--Got it when it was 8 months old. Has 83,000 miles now. Love this vehicle. Good luck. Comfortable ride.
Word!!
Wow! That's cool!!
the heated seats is the LS option -
You made a great choice my friend...I own a 2006 GMC Envoy which is basically the same vehicle.. a 1 owner vehicle....very happy with it...very reliable...they have minor BS problems .. mostly maintenance stuff
Nice!!
My dad use to have a 2004 Trailblazer. I miss that thing a lot. Wish they still built trucks like this.
Nice!
Peace and love.⛽⛽
i just got a 02 ls model and im super excited to start driving this. Been looking for a good review and i finally found it.
Nice!~~!~!
I have a 2002 T'blazer EXT 2wd (third row seat, larger rear doors, and taller roof) with 188,000+ miles on her and love mine!
stil running my 2002 TrailBlazer no regrets!!! Love it Cheers Sal
NICE!!
Just bought an ‘00 Blazer yesterday with 79,000 miles and looks pristine! So happy with the purchase!
I just bought a 2006 to replace my 2000 4runner that got T boned. Love it. The ride is so smooth, it has more power, and it has a good 4 wheel drive system. Ill quickly be putting a lift kit and some 32s on it and hit some trails.
Cool! I like mine.
hallo friend iam looking for a trail blazer do you recommand it ,does it good on offroad
@@ali-yk9jg look at my comment. yes it does decent off-road with adequate suspension upgrades (lift, shocks, and good tires)
I have an 06 and I love it. Mine has over 160k on it and runs great. Good solid SUV for the money.
Nice!
I had a Ford escape 2003 NEVER AGAIN I am here trying to find different reviews on the trailblazers so far im in I wanna buy one I feel excited
Nice!!
Proud owner of a 04 Trailblazer. 85,000 miles. The rear hinges on the gate can rust out. But other than that , it's a great SUV.
Right!!
I have a 07 and I had 04 it had 250,000 miles on it and still running I love the trailblazers
Love my 02 Trailblazer, currently getting the steering rack replaced long story, let's just say a certain bolt broke off in a bad spot while changing the lines. I love how quick it is too for its size. I got a 1000watt stereo system in mine hahaha
Nice!
Still have mines. My 1st strong motor vehicle. Beware after high miles on the transmission. Rebuilt mines twice. Other than that it's great. My new car is a 2014 dodge charger rt awd
Nice!!
What a great old find. Loved these and the late 90s blazers.
i did the same thing when i got my 2002 trailblazer...... on star answered and i freaked out...... so many buttons i had to find out what they did. easy to work on love my trailblazer.
Ha ha...nice.
I have an 03 ltz has 189k and love it never had any issues strong motor and still purrs… keep them maintained and they last a long time
Had an ‘03 as my first car and loved it so much I’m looking for another as we speak
Mines an 03 and my first car too. Straight 6 with 200k+ miles on it. They really don't build them like they used to.
I have a 02 LTZ version same color my build so far. I have a 3 inch lift touch screen pioneer stereo that is Apple car play and android auto connected to a amp and 2 12s (subs) I installed LED lighting in the interior new headlights and fog lights new suspension and I have a back up camera that turns on when I put the car in reverse. purchased my trailblazer used in 2018 and it is now 2021 I was tempted to buy a new truck f150 or 1500 gmc/Chevy or a Tacoma lol but then decided heck I will just upgrade my trailblazer and learn in the process about upgrading with after market parts and man it has got me hooked ! My trailblazer had about 86k when I got it and now has 132k miles not one issue yet kept up with standard maintenance and it has made me a Chevy fan.
Nice!!
Damn, I want one of these to be my first vehicle. This video furtherly sold me.
@@Marcjacobsons Great! Nice ride.
I bought a 02 tb ltz with 220,000 miles on it still running strong I have towed my dirt bikes and some furniture and it towes really good for a 4.2
Nice. Mine still going. Although not sure if I need a new rack-n pinion steering seems strange.
They do ride nice. Just wish the frames were not made out of the titanic steel from that ship...lol
I agree!
Me three! ;)
@@raivenbarba856 I do too agree
If you enjoy working on your truck regularly, you'll LOVE it. Good looking truck and the engine itself is damn near bulletproof, but I've had to replace almost everything else...pumps, alternator, starter, front end components on my O6. Still better than the new version of the Blazer that they came out with this year though.
agree!
What do you expect out of a FOURTEEN year old vehicle? Of course it's going to need a little TLC from time to time!
Word!
I agree! The previous owner of mine had one of my rear glass hinges "reglued" because it separated from the glass. That rear glass is very expensive, especially on the EXT model!
Wow I didn't know that upper glass in the back is only GLUED? Crazy. Luckily I've only opened it once. hahaha. I just replaced the actuator for the door hinge switch in the tailgate - that's an easy repair to do for an anti-mechanical person like me. haha.
Great truck! Plenty of parts in the junk yards. I love my TB, mine is the EXT 03. 👍
You need to install a double din stereo
Just started driving it today for the fall winter. Hope to find some snow soon!~
Be nice to find some snow she will ride with me
Good deal man!
Nice mine does also. Cool!
I just got a 2006, 201k miles replaced the alternator, and she’s running great.
I have an 04 trailblazer 175 miles love it
Great!! I love the ride!
If you ever get the cam/crank correlation dtc...its not the cam phaser or loose crank pulley bolt. Replace cam position sensor.
I had a brand new 02 trailblazer LT but now an 08 LS with the 5.2 v8 4x4. Love the torque of the v8.
Nice to read!
Bought a 03 trailblazer new. Still have it. 115000 miles. Change out all the coils last couple of years.
Nice...yea mods for these things are nice looking.
@@FixingWithPassion I got 03 Silverado nice truck exaust little loud, hell yeah I only like 800$ left but I'm 300$ behind struggles resl
What size trailer you haul with your truck i have a 2006 GMC Envoy and im looking for a trailer but i don't wanna go to big
@@FixingWithPassion yeah you can get a bunch of Mods for the Chevy Trailblazer and GMC Envoy
The biggest thing that kills these transmissions is heat and lack of trans oil/filter changes!
it's 2021, just brought one JUST as clean and well kept as this...for $1800!
i'm still in shock that it has 221k miles on it.
Nice!!!
I dont even have to watch your video because i already know the answer. Its YES. If i could write those 3 letters larger, i would!
2003 Trailblazer. Love it has the 4.2 and it is Strong. 210k miles
Nice!!
Never Ever Been Stuck - The Best Winter Vehicle !!!!!
Right!!
Original owner of an '08 Trailblazer. Never recalled, no major issues. Beware of frame rust. Frame rust kills these things.
Truth!!
👍Good score, good video. Thx👍 I own 2. An 07 & an 02- love ‘em but like all, they have their own drawbacks.
Good stuff✌️🇺🇸
Nice to help others.
Pretty cool truck, I just brought a 02 trailblazer with 180,000 miles yesterday, it runs pretty good but the grand only thing I hate is that it has a lot of miles but the truck looks in mint condition and it looks like it's been taking care of pretty well
Yea they ride like caddies!
I got an 2004 I love mine
Nice!!
Nice!!
that gives me hope at 267K with original motor and transmission, transfer case, rear axle, etc. Well I did just get new shocks and the rear coil springs so now the car is 2 inches higher over the ground. haha.
I purchase a 2008 chevy trailblazer it had 78000 thousand miles on it 2 years ago now 130000 with no promblems i love it very fast ride good
Nice!!!
If you didn’t figure out the rattle, it’s just a warp in the exhaust manifold
I had an 03 TB that I bought new and put 480,000 miles on. Got written off when I was rear ended by a Ram crew cab 4x4 diesel. LOVED my TB! So I went out and bought a used 08 Envoy which only has about 165k on it now - still a low miler! I'm despairing what to do if I have to get rid of it - I think I'll just keep fixing it regardless of the cost. I like these things that much! In 1.5 years I'll have been driving the TB/Envoy for 20 years!
Wow 480K miles!! Impressive. I'm at 267K and shooting for 500K on the TB. thanks
And beets paying $36,000 for a new one! ;D
Great SUV! You won't have that torque converter issues as you were have on a Ford. But you have to watch for the solenoids.
Yea seen lots of video's on that....
Truth
Had my 02 LS for 10 years rides like a Cadillac never regret , live in mine mostly lol.
Nice!
I have an 07 with 292,000 miles on it. Still runs smooth and everything works.
Nice!!
I have a 2008 trailblazer lt and its my 2nd one and theyve always been reliable
Love them!
Geez I wish I was this guy
He can't seem to do anything wrong . Amazing
I have a donkey now.
i just got my '06 trailblazer for my 14th birthday as a first car
My parents have 2003 trailblazer with almost 250,000 miles it's at 248,000 right now but a sold car it's going to be mine soon but dam has it lasted.
Enjoy!~
Also put new clutch fan and water pump in it. New brakes, front suspension all new. Here in texas roads are super bad. A/c never been touch and its still blowing it tail off. Got my money out of it over and ovet. Great ride as well. Its the long wheelbase LT modle. Same color ext and interior as the video here. Just had her repainted . Texas heat is a ball buster .im way south by the ocean and no rust as well. 20yrs and still powerful as tho new. Good luck to you with your 02.
I have the 2003 model literally the same color inside and out but am currently having to replace the blend door actuators would you do a video on removing the dash for this model? I can't find anything with any amount of detail but I have a manual on the way
I have an '02 that's pretty much the twin to yours.. I absolutely LOVE mine! It was just as clean as yours when I bought it 6 months ago. I fixed a couple minor things, but it runs and drives like a dream!.. I see it's been 2 years since you bought yours, curious as to what you think at this point?
love my 09 had it 10 years i keep fluids changed
Nice!!
I love mine I haven’t, 07 number for man to, but I love my Chevy trailblazer. I got it from the government.
I’ve had 2 and I love them both!
Sweet!!
Same to me. It is a great car.
It has been my daily driver for 4 years i live in dubai and its very hot here but still running strong 2004 ltz with 200000 miles 💪
Nice!!!
Chevy is known for it smooth and comfortable ride, at least until the ball joints and bushings start to wear out.
I just bought my 2002 trailblazer 131k miles first thing i did was change oil, transmission fluid and rear differential fluid no check engine light and it drives like a new car
Nice!
Have a 03, with 130435 miles. Check the bottom of the back doors, they trap water, due to factory Running boards. Fix asap. Other then that, good truck.
I see some with bad frames especially in the NE. Maybe is a thing here.
@@FixingWithPassion There is an issue with the frames and the winter highway salt/chemicals. The frames on these vehicles hate those chemicals!
Yea true
