My wife has had a Chevy Trax, also made in Korea, and so far, it’s been a good vehicle.
A lot of small GM cars (Cruze, Bolt, Malibu, Sonic, Trax, etc) are actually R&D in Korea. These cars are quite common on the roads of Seoul. In my theory, GM in the US does not want to spend its resources on developing small cars so they outsource them to their Korea division (Daewoo).
@@xcmskim4Probably a smart move. I have a 21 Spark which is a Daewoo, made in the same factory this is made in. It's brand new of course with only 16K miles on it but so far no complaints. And it's a lot more comfortable than my wifes 2016 Toyota RAV4.

Hey Scotty, I liked your video. It was refreshing to see you NOT dump on the Chevy Trailblazer but instaed leave a caveat for ten years down the road. Keep up the great entertaining and educational videos!
My first car was a 1963 SAAB 96. It was a three cylinder, two cycle, front wheel drive. It vibrated so hard that it had a small shock absorber from the head to the fender wall just to dampen the vibration. You had to go under the hood once every two weeks just to tighten down everything. It got 22mpg when normal cars got 12 mpg.
I’ve had mine for a year and do 8 hour drives quite often to visit family. I’ve only had the EGR purge solenoid go out so far. I have a 2021 Trailblazer RS FWD. I got the car with 7 miles on it and now it has 36,000 got it last year in February.
I cannot remember a time when I bought a car that had any kind of failure by 36000 miles. Even a 2000 Jeep Cherokee I owned ran for 91000 before it's first failure (leak in the radiator, which was common for those)
I just got my new 2023 Trailblazer RS Awd two weeks ago and love everything about it, it has power, speed and really good gas miles for a small SUV. It's smaller then most SUVs but big then most cars.
Mr. Kilmer, you are one of a kind. When you analyse a vehicle you are brutally honest. And yet if a producer that you've been critical about comes out with a good car you're gracious to commend them. I have a 2020 Encore GX with the 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder engine. Through the first 11,000 miles, it has averaged 34 mpg, mostly highway miles at 70+ mph. I love the ride and handling and many of the other features. My only concern is related to durability, as I typically will keep for 120,000to 150,000 miles. Overall, extremely happy with the performance. It looks like a “ kissing cousin” to the Trailblazer.
I noticed the 1.3 3 cylinder in the Encore GX sounds better then most 4 cylinder engines, from what I have read 3 cylinders in general sound better than the usual 4

We were looking at a Trailblazer on a Chevy Dealership lot and the salesman was arguing that it was a 4cyl engine and when my husband read it was a 3cyl on the info sheet the guy said it was a typo. 🤣🤣🤣I told my hubby he was right about 3cyl because I had seen a review about it the salesman still didn't believe it. 🤣🤣🤣Thank you Scotty for all the info you share with us. 😺
I'll bet a lot of people walk away when the sales staff tells them it's a three cylinder. So they lie and say it's a four cylinder. I would buy a three cylinder, no problem.
What can I say... I do own a 2017 Dacia Sandero Stepway with the 0.9l 3 cylinder engine. While driving really softly, I managed to do 3.9l/100km(60MPG). Usually it does around 5l/100km and I know people that drove cars like this for around 300000km without any serious problem. Good engines.
I had the opportunity to rent this same exact vehicle for a week while visiting the grand canyon in 2023. I was able to drive in all types of terrain and I was so impressed with how it drove in light, off-road conditions and on the highway that I have been keeping my eye out for one ever since. I have seen very positive reviews on this car and thought that even Scotty would give it a positive review once he drove it. I love how versatile it is and has the option to switch out of AWD for regular driving for slightly better gas mileage and less wear on tires and components. The traditional transmission as opposed to a CVT also makes this a good option over other mid-sized crossover competitors.
If you get the Activ instead of the RS it comes with a Skid plate underneath for light off roading....The Rs comes with larger tires. Off roading here and there I would go with the ACTIV...the RS and Activ are there top tier Trailblazer trim and cost the same stock without options added. I have the RS cause I liked the look and dont do any off road driving, if I did I would of easily grabbed the Activ for the plate though.

Would love Scotty to take a look at it see if it’s holding up. I think it is
I am stunned. GM has you almost rooting for them. Time will tell, indeed.
Please never stop doing this!
The way you express the information is a joy.
Scotty, I have to say that GM hit the ball out of the park with the styling. The Trailblazer looks good. I saw a taupe colored one with a white top and it looked sharp as hell. They also have very nice infotainment system and a clear backup camera. If I was in the market, I think I would take a gamble on one.
@@petercollingwood522 That's great to know. I believe the Trax/Trailblazer and Spark are made in two separate factories inside Korea. I can only see GM outsourcing their EVs and its components to Daewoo, as GM has a special agreement with LG batteries.
@@xcmskim4 Not sure exactly which plant it's made it but I noticed the sticker in the drivers door when Scotty opened it said the same as on my car "GM Korea Company".

I'm not an SUV guy but I like that it's fuel efficient
I used to drive mostly GM vehicles for years, only because my dad worked for them. They used to make decent vehicles but it seems like the really went downhill after the government bailout.
What a shame.
They were terrible before the bailout.
That's WHY they needed it.

Also happens to be one of the best sounding engines ever made
Ring ding ding !!!
I love Scotty, learned more from him on 6years than I ever did from my old man
Liked my Geo metro in the day.. 160k miles and ran like almost new when I sold her.

Even a 2000 Jeep Cherokee I owned ran for 91000 before it's first failure (leak in the radiator, which was common for those)
@@jjc4577 I’m at 78,000 miles and still no issues.
I just got my new 2023 Trailblazer RS Awd two weeks ago and love everything about it, it has power, speed and really good gas miles for a small SUV. It's smaller then most SUVs but big then most cars.
My Dad told me in 1963 "Son..buy a Chevrolet..it will run everyday"..I think times have changed..LOL
I always learn something new when I watch Scotty's videos 💡😎👍

Scotty likes a GM 3 cylinder turbo SUV. I’ve seen it all.
yes..this caused a disturbance in the Force to be sure.
Mr. Kilmer, you are one of a kind. When you analyse a vehicle you are brutally honest. And yet if a producer that you've been critical about comes out with a good car you're gracious to commend them. That is just pure magnanimity....!!

I think my straight 6 trailblazer would have outlived that 1.3 if I kept it :-)
Doubt it. If the transfer case motor went bad it was more expensive to fix it than the value of the vehicle.
Yep I had a friend who had one and it did go for awhile but when it did start falling apart it was over.
@@insideoutsideupsidedown2218 Had 188k on it when I got rid of if. 4x4 worked perfect. I maintained it. Only problem was rust. I live in NH and was done with it when the rear control arms broke and the frame had to be welded to have something to bolt to.

Absolutely, Scotty is a gem.
2021 Trailblazer RS 1.3l ECOTECH turbo with 110,000 miles - so far, so good. Mainly highway miles. Original tires (swap for winter tires for winter driving), first set of brake pads and rotors, change oil every 3,200 miles using synthetic oil, GM oil filter, two air filter, two cabin filter, two transmission oil & filter changes. Oil spray every year. 36+ mpg on average.

@Ken Parrent How is it holding up?
@@savinorojas6836 I now have about 36k miles and overall mileage remains a shade above 34 mpg. So far, only routine maintenance, no other issues.

I don’t know if any of those locations are in the process of closing, but definitely the website lists these locations as of Spring 2021.
Exactly! I was surprised to see a few stores while driving along the Florida Keys
@Chaderick27- The last time I saw a store open it was about to close its doors about 13 years ago in Los Angeles.
There is no more Sears in Indiana but there is Sears Home Town Stores left throughout. Weird how they’ve carried out closing certain KMarts and Sears.

Sounds like that salesman should find another line of work.

I DO want a Scan Tool. That would be awesome!
Scotty you've saved me alot of money. You a national treasure man. Thankyou for everything 👌🏻
