    NICE.
The capitalistic system is NOT EVIL!
But people can abuse the system like in the toon and throw industry and the economy into disarray.
Look at our current mess as example enough.

The problem is that those multinationals first make the rules so you can't join the market when others do price-fixing. The vid shows how naive we wanted to believe in free market. Free market to buy government?? Because that was what happened next.

I find it interesting how in 1948, higher taxes and worker protections were seen as a good thing that complements a growing economy and free market with good schools and social services. This is the problem with the post 1980 view of capitalism in America, government is an important part of a free market economy.

that was a great cartoon, the american ideal & the american dream, circa 1948. too bad it's all big business today and the little guy is working for a substandard wage and the big company just keeps getting bigger and richer. still, it was a nice dream.

6:08 - a contradiction: monopoly with too-high prices doesn't work because it invites new entrants. So, why have regulation?

    • @JeffDeWitt
      @JeffDeWitt 7 лет назад +3

More of then not it's those same regulations that prevent new competition.

Nah but Johnny you got to do this right both you and Audi’s lower your prices crazily and when the other companies can’t match your prices and go out of business, buy them, and when you have bought every company, you can then fix your prices because everybody needs soap

Then a NEW competitor will come along, or somebody else will find a more efficient way to get the same job done.

      Meanwhile, in Anarcho-capitalist School...
      *Teacher:*
_"We'll be right back to Biology after this advertisement from our sponsor..."_
      [8 minutes later...]
      *Teacher:*
_"Now then pupils, who can tell me which beverage is the most refreshing drink for dehydrated people?... Jimmy?"_
      *Jimmy:*
      _"Water?"_
      *Teacher:*
_"No Jimmy, that's very incorrect... Tom?"_
      *Tom:*
      _"Pepsi?"_
      *Teacher:*
_"Yes, Pepsi! With it's cold, rich, timeless taste and a multitude of healthy ingredients, Pepsi is the smart choice for instant refreshment. Good job, Tom. You get a Pepsi sticker. Eight more and you'll be able to get 20 percent off your next Pepsi purchase at the school's fountain."_
      *Jimmy:*
_"But... isn't water cheaper and less dangerous to one's teeth due to the absence of suggar?"_
      *Teacher:*
_"Jimmy, where did you get that Fake News notion from?!"_
      *Jimmy:*
_"My friend Kyle visits a public school. He told me that water is the best choice."_
      *Teacher:*
_"Figures. Those public 'schools' are little more than mouthpieces for the evil federal government's propaganda! Those socialist bureaucrats don't want you to enjoy the good things in life, so they want to make you drink the stuff that's also used to flush toilets with. Do you want to drink toilet flusher fluid, Jimmy? Or will you be a good boy and buy yourself a nice, refreshing Pepsi right now, in order to prove your allegiance to our school's glorious sponsor?!"_
