So good to find it at last ! "A Wedding in Pastry Town" haunted me from the time we returned to Connecticut, after being gone 20 years.Childhood memories are like that , I am told. I searched and searched - but it was my fault that I did not find it, because I remembered it as "A Wedding Bakery Town" and of course there was nothing there. But this time, When I asked for "A Wedding in Bakery Town " and browsed down a few pages from the top hit, "A Wedding in Pastry Town" Appeared.
These cartoons were so freaking adorable, I wish they made more cartoons like these nowadays. What a great and cute little cartoon. Thank you for sharing this with us.
God this was so sugar-coated I think it gave me diabetes. Seriously, besides the bee, there was no conflict at all in this. Just boy saves girl, gets hitched. All in all, I still enjoyed watching this, trips back to the past like this are always such a gem.
Todos tenemos un niño dentro pasan los años y añoramos nuestra niñez estos dibujos nunca pasaran de moda siempre estaran alli para los niñis y adultos col alma de niñi me encanto gracias pir subir tan bellos dibujos
There's also the original titles for "Pastry Town Wedding" finally exists courtesy of Steve Stanchfield. This cartoon was also co-produced by Ted Eshbaugh. This version was technically part of "Rainbow Parade", but not sure if this was considered the first in the series of cartoons for Van Beuren in the "Rainbow Parade" series. This was a later title from late 1935 and early to mid 1936 since it was "Technicolor" according to the end title, it was originally in Cinecolor.
As stated in sugarbugs section 17 : if one individual saves a flower-layer from any insect they must be repayed with 50 sugarsheckles. If the flower-layer and her family cannot pay the 50 sugarsheckles they may offer a marriage to one of the family members.
I can't help but think of parallels here to the old story about the shoemaker and the elf. The teeny little fae who worked in a cobbler's shop? I think the little bakers here are the same kind of fae~
...when they roll the jelly roll, they stop the inch before the end, to be sure to show how the jelly squishes to the end by itself....such attention to detail...supercool!
IKR i'm watching these and keep thinking WOW the animators that animate for my generation are pretty lazy compared to these guys like seriously such detail!
Elle Smith Fagan cool...but not that spectacular. It wasn't considered attention to detail then. It was just How It Is. When there is like 14 cartoons doing stupid shit all through and 1 dis something realistic...THEN you can , make a big deal. But back then, they ALL gave at least SOMETHING for you to learn. It was standard. Not spectacular.
What if they already know each other, but he saves the girl from the bee and that's when they realize, "You know what? I really like you. Will you marry me ?" and she says yes.
That's what I thought too. By the way, did you notice the bride was the only girl in the cartoon? I bet all of the other guys were jealous that he got the only girl in their world. 😉 And probably wondering were are they going to get a bride for themselves from.
their interaction we saw at the start (before the bee) could be a daily occurrence between them, and like you said, saving her from the bee made them finally realize their feelings for each other. and it was adorable af
That makes sense, cause normally there's almost always some sort of bad guy in these Van Buren cartoons, this one was quite "boring". It was sweet and nice, don't get me wrong, but still.
Anyone in 2024 ?

How to convince a girl to marry you: Hack #1- Save her from a killing machine bee.
It would work for me! I'm terrified of those striped sting balls! Plus, he can bake! 😉
And be a pastry cook !
in other word, save her ass
Well if you're made of sugar its different

A toast to the short-lived Van Beuren Studio.

Thankful to have grown up watching cartoons like this...before superheroes everywhere and evil demons were popular.
The imagination they had back then is truly wonderful ❤

I see what you mean I'm worried that the original Minnie mouse could be a Slut
HERMOSO!!!!!!!!!!!!
So much cleverer than recent cartoons.

Hello
The chef guy at the beginning literally sounded like a toy that sings but the batteries in it are dying
Wow so cute
Who's still watching in 2019 ?
This cartoon should be in a oddly satisfying completion.
i like how creative this is i wish the kids shows were as simple as that now in 2018 the 2018 kids shows are so annoying

Are they little bugs?
AshyPanteloons that's what I want to know!
I think they are little pastry people
AshyPanteloons not sure
Well that is the fastest reletionshop ive ever seen.
que buenas caricaturas
This looks interesting
Can we just talk about the guy taking the holes off the swiss cheese and throwing them onto the doughnuts instead?
Alexis Marie I found that to be the most satisfying thing ever.
Alexis Marie torj7rddiyfusug0f9
Possibly only in the pastry Dimension can this be done
That why some cheeses don't have any hole !
Maybe he was turning it into something like cheddar.
...when they roll the jelly roll, they stop the inch before the end, to be sure to show how the jelly squishes to the end by itself....such attention to detail...supercool!
Elle Smith Fagan: You caught that too..😆
IKR i'm watching these and keep thinking WOW the animators that animate for my generation are pretty lazy compared to these guys like seriously such detail!

I love how it takes only a teaspoon of love, but a tablespoon of money to make the recipe for love.
LexieDi Pretty sure they said honey
Andrea Ludolph yup, it was honey 🍯
Money
LexieDi yeah
Haha you made a mistake but the great thing is that that kinda correct nowadays
What if they already know each other, but he saves the girl from the bee and that's when they realize, "You know what? I really like you. Will you marry me ?" and she says yes.
Rei Tokisawa that makes more sense
That's what I thought too. By the way, did you notice the bride was the only girl in the cartoon? I bet all of the other guys were jealous that he got the only girl in their world. 😉
And probably wondering were are they going to get a bride for themselves from.

Originally produced as a "promotional film" for Cushman's Sons chain of bakeries in the New York metropolitan area [they folded in 1964].
That makes sense, cause normally there's almost always some sort of bad guy in these Van Buren cartoons, this one was quite "boring". It was sweet and nice, don't get me wrong, but still.
Barry I. Grauman my god they had been in business for over 100 years. Too bad.
