Four years before I was born. Another great set of videos can be found searching for drive-in movie intermission messages and cartoons. There were tons of PSA's (Public Service Announcements) and they were actually good advice. Be kind, considerate and thoughtful in your speech and actions. Help your neighbors...build up, don't tear down. It was a good time to grow up in.

@@josephuveges8538 Not true. It's a cartoon with cartoon humor, but with many important elements embedded in it. I have lived the truths it contains. What I learned cannot be revised or propagandized. You cannot turn away from the truth, once it has rang in your heart. A society which is trained away from listening to it's elders is doomed to repeat every mistake they made and learned from. Smart people listen to the wisdom of their elders. They don't start from scratch. Why do you think they are trying to ridicule and even kill off older people? I know you can figure it out.

I know this comment is three years old. But Marxists have known for over a century that World Revolution cannot happen whilst America remains free of their yoke. And they know traditional American values of God, Nation and Family make her a bulwark against such an ideology.
Antonio Gramsci was speaking in the 1920s about how the only way to ripen America for revolution was to make her lose sight of God, to turn her populace against each other, to destroy her view on the family unit, to eradicate her culture. A Fifth Column has been working on America in a bid to soften her up for societal collapse ever since. Look at the "Red Scare" of 1919, for example.

1:05 is a fucking joke as we see now
The freedom to work at the job you like is a joke, yea you like your job but your also a slave to your borgouise who's controling you while their exploitating you for money but oh you can leave but it will cost you your life if you can't find a job
Freedom to own property, they placed that there so when Socialists mean we want to get rid of private property people brainwashed by that will think that we want to get rid of your fucking toothbrush
Security for unlawful etc...WTF HAHAHAHAHA Yea security for you from unlawful shit if you're white
The right to a speedy and whatever trial, uh yeah if you're white, if you're black they're just gonna say "nah you guilty" and make punishments worse for em
Protection against cruel punishments, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA, cop kills a black guy for "resisting arrest"
The right to vote, huh yeah sure except the borgouise controls it and they even rig the votes on a person as we saw with Bernie Sanders 2 times They riged it so Bernie can't win 2 times
To worship God and shit, yea sure thats true
"it is these freedoms that make America strong" no what makes it strong is the blood of the opressed workers and people while a couple of 10 guys own the entire economy of it
Advertising a Politcal ideology when advertising is what the idealology is against lmao
2:33 Yea it will AND is supposed give you higher wages and shit but dicators used it to their advantage and now I am willingly debunking a peice if American propoganda that everyone was brainwashed from
(I'm referring to communsim and any lefitst shit here)
And there will be no strikes because everyone will be happy working unless they aren't and they may and will strike
Ok the whole advertising shit for ism is just saying "I will use these methods on which communism is and isn't supposed to give you so I can command you to do whatever for me" which isn't the case with any ideology what so ever
3:09 yes a classic example with dicators using shit to manipulate the people but since this is propaganda they don't tell you that it's just dicators and make you believe it's the entire ideology in general
"signing away my freedom" yes what freedoms exactly because I just debunked your freedoms
"our system if free enterprise isn't perfect" no it's worse than perfect as I just explained why
The whole sequence of the dude making something is him working
"got some money from someone" yes so he didn't make money from working hard Anyways but I guess he needed recourses to work harder
"Mr Titus" another rich man lending his couple thousands out of his millions ok ok sure
5:27 keep blushing because you're exploitating workers
Now he's exploitatating the idea he made and his workers for money
"millions of jobs that never existed before" that's cool and all but at the cost of your surplus value, labour, wages, freedom, etc
"only one person" dang only one person did that amounts of damage
"even in the depression labor and wages bought more food" notice how it's all rich folks
This should be higher the USSR should be higher and actually they're blaming it on the USSR and not the fact that WW2 just fucking ended (talking about the national income)
"we drive 70% of the world's automobiles" Japan, Germany, etc
"things that Capitalisic system have given us in only 160 years" yea the shit is cool and all but when are you gonna talk about the exploitatation of the workers I've been waiting for that, oh wait it's American propoganda
"the state forbids strikes" uh no the reason you haven't seen strikes in the USSR is because probably everyone was happy working and even if the state forbided that, that doesn't mean it's all Socialism's fault because strikes is what gave fuel Socialism in the first place
"the union" Socialism is about the union of workers in the first place so they're making unions a bad thing or what?
"I'll take this to the supreme court, the state is the supreme court" lmao for the USSR yes lol, it's also true in amerikkka, also state run factories isn't Socialism, nor communism, and neither is the state being the supreme court
"no more private property" good, no more private property (buisnesses) for the rich man good lmao
It doesn't make any distinction between private and personal property and they put that there so when Socialists scream to get rid of private property people think they're trying to get rid of your underwear, "farmers don't vote anymore" bruh this is dicatorship not Socialism and don't Say that "Socialism is dicatorship" because it's Litteraly the opposite of what it's supposed to be the thing is Stalin took that to his advantage
"you don't have to worry about next year the state will do your planning from now on" so what about collective farms.....those where in the USSR and where good the only problem was the kulaks and stalin's poor polices
"state concitration camp" again no leftist ideologies except for tankie ones will do this or will want to do this
Also that freedom of speech segment where the state makes you say everything is fine, again no ideology does this except for tankie ones
The rich own the economy rn while the workers are slave to them, don't tell me that a class war isn't going on
"race hatred" communism is Litteraly THE OPPOSITE of this
"religious intolerance" who says Socialism doesn't allow religion
"the person seeks to Rob us of our freedom" so Stalin and the Capitalist then because they both take away freedom from the workers
"destroy our very lives blah blah blah" yes sure kill the dicator that makes Socialism look bad, oh wait it's American propoganda so Socialism is the only fault to this, sorry guys Socialism is bad because the state says so
9:10 ok so it's praising the state which is what you were against in the first place so uh, ok then
"freedom for all blah blah blah" I've just debunked that

    - @ 6:41, take more notice of each particular nation and how the United States perceived each of them at the time (1948). The individual second from left has his hands in his pockets, making him appear devious, or sly. He is facing forward, which could represent movement and the belief that this country is "developed" and progressing. The third individual (USSR) is looking up at the US in an envious manner, or with a competitive gaze. His hands are behind his back, exuding confidence and control. The fourth individual is front-facing and has its hands extended outward. Is it dependent or neutral...or both? The fifth individual (Arabian Peninsula, maybe?) is also facing front-facing. In comparison to the rest, he is significantly undersized. The sixth individual (China) is looking the other way, with his back turned and his head tilted upward in a scornful, haughty manner. Could also represent US perceptions of China as a backwards country at the time. The final individual is seated with his arms crossed. He is facing forward, but he is portrayed as stubborn, stagnant, and, to an extreme, idle. With his cheeky grin, hidden eyes, hidden hands, and crossed knees, the individual representing the United States is rather obvious.
Of course, given that this is classic Cold War propaganda, I wouldn't expect anything less.

While you could possibly claim that Mr. Utopia looks a bit foreign (allthough this is not really that obvious since he doesn't speak with any non-American accent), nothing about him looks even slightly oriental. If he is not only meant to just be a generic American gangster his hat gives way more of a Italian or Hispanic wibe (which make sense in the way that Italian Americans was overrepresented in organized crime in the US at the time). And why do think the sixth figure represents China? Because his money stack is way to high to be China, which during this time (1948) was indeed one of the poorest countries on Earth. Why I can't really say what country that guy he is meant to represent, that mustage gives more of a central European wibe, so it's more likely he is meant to either be Polish, German or Swiss. So you are overinterpretating things to an absurd degree here.

It's a fun little cartoon but be careful about the message it brings: the fact that the workers basically ask for better conditions with workers rights and other forms of protection was (and unfortunately still IS in America) seen as something bad and negative. It is not a coincidence the fact that the salesman is called "Dr. Utopia": it is a subtle message to make you believe that workers rights are impossible to achieve in a stable and prosperous society. The fact that a country produces more doesn't mean that everybody is fine economically, not everybody can invent things or accumulate capital and if they do it is not guaranteed that they will succed.
It is right to educate people about what communism really is and it is fairly normal for the time of this cartoon to confuse simple socialism with the far more radical communism, but it's worrying that even today in the US most people seriously think that government intervention is ALWAYS bad. This stance was abandoned by Europe decades ago, even before the fall of the USSR and with better protection towards workers the standard of living has improved.
This cartoon doesn't say that. It TRIES to stay neutral, but at the end the workers simply reject the idea of better protection instead of saying something like:"Ok communism is actually fucked up, but what about we try to do those reforms by ourselves?" The cartoon fails to stay neutral even before this event: "...the freedom to do the job you like" Most of the times you can't simply "choose" your dream work. Sometimes you have to study very hard (and that takes money you might not have), sometimes the market simply won't hire you (not because they're "evil", but because they simply don't need more workers right now in that field), sometimes you have to put time and effort to invest in your dream profession but you have to work in another job to feed your family and that takes up all of your avaiable time.
The point the cartoon makes is true: don't trust people who promise you a Utopia, but try to consider the other side of the coin too: don't trust people who tell you that your claims and rights are "impossible to achieve". To make the world a better place takes effort and time, a LOT of time, there is no magic "instant rights" bottle, therefore you should NEVER polarize your opinions in such important matters.

I think you’ve been fed a fruity narrative of what socialism/communism is.
While “workers’ rights” isn’t a wholly bad concept, problems can easily arise if the workers start to demand the impossible or if those workers work for a public entity. Imagine you’re a business owner that invested your own savings into a bakery, and all of your bakers threaten to strike if you don’t provide safer working conditions by replacing the bakery’s hot oven with an alternative. You try reasoning with them saying that baking is a task that necessitates the use of a hot oven, and you ask them to follow safety protocols in order to avoid inflicting personal injuries and starting fires. Your bakers refuse to listen and go on strike anyway, and laws regarding unionization forbid you from firing and replacing them. What can you do at that point?
As for public employees and their ability to strike, the main problem is that the dynamics of the strike are completely lopsided. A private business experiencing a worker strike will have to deal with lost revenue/profits. What suffering would the chief of police or the mayor face if there’s a strike amongst law enforcement officers? Well, not really anything honestly, and it ends up being ‘we the people’ that suffer even though we’re not the ones that can provide them the demands they seek.
If you still believe socialism is a concept that needs to keep being tried again and again until they “get it right”, then I don’t believe you understand human nature or economics. Economies thrive under capitalism because the founders are allowed to reap the rewards off of their investment and risks, employees are allowed the choice to work at a corporation or not, and consumers retain ultimate authority by voting with their wallets. Under socialism, the business owner loses all personal incentive to invest their savings into starting a new company since control is going to be shifted to their employees, who bear no personal responsibility for the business’s wellbeing. For employees, the business will be run by the mob, which (like in the case of modern Disney/Pixar) may choose to force the company to pursue unprofitable agendas like diversity, inclusion, etc. For consumers, they don’t get to choose where their tax dollars go and corporations run by activist mobs won’t adhere to the consumers’ interests. Countries that offer free, publicly-funded healthcare often create the bigger problem of creating a healthcare system that is just another branch of the government that courts have a conflict of interest in presiding over. So when you take socialized Disney to court, you’re not just having to face the government in their own courthouse, you’re also having to face the public’s outrage, that sees their tax dollars possibly being handed to you, and their bias against you. A court would be more eager to side against you in court, because you are just an individual that no one cares about, the socialized entity you sued likely has many connections in the government that would be pleased to see the judge rule against you, and the general public will be happy to see that you don’t get to claim their tax dollars.

Correction: The cartoon never tried to stay neutral, it just wants to give the message that the state will no solve any more problems (aside from those it has already solved), it was literally funded Alfred P. Sloan, a guy that was in a plan to overthrow the government and replace it with corporation leaders, and though it didn't go very far and it was probably not going to happen even if it wasn't exposed. Btw same guy who led Ford during it's collaboration with the Nazi regime.

There is actually a movie of Soviet era propaganda that was on Google at some point and a lot of it sounds like what you hear from American college Marxists. Essentially, the point of anti-American propaganda seems to be to point out all the short comings of America while never examining the thought system of the propagandist. This cartoon is the opposite of that in that it points out the positives of our system while giving scant criticism to the isms.

Mencken, sad to say it's becoming mandatory here in the U.S. as well. It's called RealID, and is slated to go into effect this April. There are already several states banded together opposing the measure. Unfortunately, my state isn't one of them - but I'm refusing their damn card until they catch me with an expired drivers license, or the measure goes down in flames, whichever comes first.

Exactly. And just because you're "fat" doesn't mean you're rich, especially in industrialized first world countries... rather, it just means that the poor people here are eating more processed fast/cheap-produced foods rather than being able to afford natural healthy food. A country like Chile never had a problem with obesity until fast-food was introduced there, and now the obesity level sky-rocketed.

WOW, if only cartoons were still like this I would let my son watch TV. If we had a real media in this country, instead of big government shills, this is the message people would be getting. We are galloping down the road 2 serfdom in America because too many have fallen for the "ism" of 'change' and 'security'. America's never been perfect, no country can be, but the system of individual enterprise and limited government we used to have made us the envy of the world, now we rush to squander it.
