- Playing the song which the album is named after! At the time of this recording the song was still unreleased. Apparently this is the first song Domi and JD wrote together as a duo!
I thought Thundercat had to sing in this one but he didn't lol, turns out they did more than one song with him on the album, including one where he does sing.
Also, Domi and JD just jumped on the kits of Thundercat's keyboardist and drummer after Thundercat did his set (so this was the last song). What surprised me is how easy JD adapted to a kit so different to his regular. Also Domi sight read 16th notes solos constantly at like 180 bpm. They're insane.
The jazz fusion trio we need. We'll call it Reather Weport.
i always thought of thundercat as the spiritual successor to jaco

domi can def sight read 16th notes at 180bpm but i think here shes improvising over the chord blocks or something like that which is phenomonal
Their debut album is super awesome. In fact it may be my favorite release so far this year.

really? i was underwhelmed to be honest with you. i know that what they can do is a lot better. album was just too same same for my taste. feels like a lot of chops and not a lot of ideas.

It feels weird to ear JD on a modern drum kit with such an agressive sound.. I prefer the sound of his vintage ludwig drums that he use all the time, I guess JD and Domi were only thundercat guests for a few tracks
Yeah thats true! I happened to be there. This was at the end Thundercats set in which he invited DOMi & JD to play their song. DOMi & JD played earlier the same evening!
JD on Justin Brown's kit...put that kit in a museum of greatness.

I get what ur saying, but to make this particular kind of music sound so good, like they're doing, you have to be locked. in. They're grooving alright, just not in the laid back ease your mind kind of way
