Can we just give him respect for that amazing turn in at 7:58?
Yep. +65000 Respect Points in fact.
The sense of speed in this game is quite good. The car actually feels it's going fast.
I mean, it's slightly exaggerated because it's stretched to be widescreen instead of native. Which is a real shame, should really preserve the aspect ratio when playing retro games.
Yeah, going 140 kph on a twisty road really feels just as fast as it would in real life. The problem with games often is that if you make the speeds realistic, it feels slow because you can't get the same feeling of speed through a 2D display.
@@retardray5701realistically it feels like you are travelling at 189kph occasionally.
@@nekronekoit should've been native 480p screen.
This game was very beautiful at the time, there was never another racing game that we could play with cars from those eras. I wish it had a modern release.
Forza is probably the closest thing to it these days, a decent selection of pre-war cars in Horizon 4 for example.
@@mrjohnnyk Good to know, I'll check it up.
Nfs porsche
@@JediMindG That was 2000 lol
@@dkthales I think I should point you in the direction of a channel on here called GPLaps - he does a lot of vintage racing content, usually in a game called Assetto Corsa, which is something else you should have a look at. Your mind will be blown for a while, but if you love historic racing and cars from that era, just like when I discovered it, your dreams will be brought to life as you never, ever thought they could. Scratch that earlier comment, I've been playing AC for a year and I am still blown away by it.
Cars were pretty good modelled for being a PSX game.
it’s actually quite impressive tbh
but compared to Grand Trismo....
Yeah in the thumnail at first glance I really thought it was Ps2 !
Never heard of this one. The PS games catalogue really was huge for it's time
Yeah the low cost of CD publishing and ease of PS1 development gave us a ton of games for that era. There's loads of classics I didn't even know about, such as this.
And we still have not seen most of them, in the west we barely saw 1600 of the almost 8000 that the console has, the rest never left Japan
I think so
@@user-gi1iv1hf8bnowadays game now costed up to $100.
@@mrjohnnykthere are 900 classic games in fact.
For a ps1 game released 21 years ago the texture quality is actually decent especially with the car modeling
Its PSX, twice as powerful as PS1.
@Crazy Chris en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PSX_(digital_video_recorder)
But this is not the case of the PSX. This was PS1 emulator, which uses very high resolution and speed, that's why the modells and the game looked that good. If you want to see the real game check it out: 4Bbls31AI4A
Unfortunately recorded in bottle format. The game ran in 4: 3, which you can clearly see on the egg-shaped speedometer. Unfortunately, RUclipsrs keep making this mistake
He is using the emulador core that allows the game run in wide screen, the rendering is not stretched at all, only the textures like the png image on the speedometer, so not bad at all.
Probably one of the only racing games that make 100kmh looks really fast
I have great memories of this game. It was the first racing game I ever finished 100%. After finishing this game, I liked the racing games. It is all, have a nice day.
I can't get my mind over the fact that psx didn't have a depth buffer and all those polygons had to be sorted back to front every frame, quite remarkable
I remembered this game and being an utterly confused child as to why there are only “old” cars in the game. I ended up playing Gran Turismo instead lmao
I remember playing this as a kid 20 years ago, forgot both the game and title for more than half of my life, thanks. Still looks good.
Classic cars on classic console! Great!
Really nice car models for it's time. The sense of speed is good as well, i bet it was fun to play
Man, I guess Laguna Seca was extremely popular during this era of gaming. Even Star Wars Pod Racer on the N64 (not sure about the PC or DC versions) had a track modeled after it.
But wow, the textures are really well done for a PS1 game, even this late in the console's life. My word, rubber banding is obvious, though.
EDIT: Okay, so it might not be rubber banding, just a case of overspeeding the A.I. due to it sucking pretty bad in the corners.
hell, even the race track in the one mission of Mafia 1 is the Laguna Seca layout
Não conhecia esse jogo, e pelos comentários muita gente também não. Po achei muito bacana, apesar de só ter carro das antigas, é bem feito.
por isso que é bom, só carro antigo
these 155 kph are faster than 400kph in Gran turismo
Gameplay and physics used as a base afterward for all star racing 1 & 2 and 5 star racing, which is infamous afterwards
Nostalgic ♥
This looks so cool yo.
Wow! I want to play this game!
I thought it was impossible to beat the AI until I saw this video. Very good driving!
Mille Miglia, for a 25 year old game, its somehow still amazing!
Looks pretty cool
Wish this was on ps2 and have a cockpit view
面白いですね。まるでラグナセカを横にしたかのようなコースですね。
Nice Gameplay. 👍👍👍👍👍
Holy crap cant believe i forgot this gem
Never heard about this game. Good graphics for that time!
Uai, I never play that game!!! Looks like amazing
This holds up incredibly well in HD.. PS: I've never seen this game before.. but it looks great.
amazing driving, i used to hate this game back in the day coz the cars handled so badly. seeing you play it, i guess it was my sucky driving!
Cars these looking pretty good modelled for the being a PS1 game
Nice
I love classic cars, I wish they remake it
5:20 Woah! How did they do those very good looking real time reflections? Looks amazing for ps1!
rtx
It’s amazing how you can completely forget you played a game as a kid and then see a random thumbnail on RUclips and it all comes flooding back 🤣
Was this the sense of speed on the original release? Seems too fast.
Also, the pop-in is minimal due to the emulator, right? If not, that would be very impressive for ps1.
To my knowledge you can't change the pop-in in a emulation, unless you re-write the game code, something that is very hard to do and I doubt it someone would lose time in a game like this
I will try this on my RG 350M
Miss nfs porsche
cool
Do you have tutorial about how to configure emulation to look like this?
Hahhahsa! These cars are a bit too fast, aren't they not?
Anyway, cool! Didn't knew this one.
wow never knew the Miglia game(s) got a sequel on PS1.
looks good for a ps1 game, save for the drivers face
the driver looks like they're being covered by a blanket on their body lmao
still good graphics for being a psx game..
used to play this with my brother when I was a child
The existence of this game makes you ask what were they thinking. I mean, if there was a target group of old ex racers who also knew how to play a PS1 game then maybe. But for real, it seems odd that anyone would bother making a game that's about historic cars only, unless it was treated as a novelty and sold for cheap.
I wanted to get this back in the day but I had to choose between this and Driver 2 which I saved up for so Driver 2 it was
Wow 100kph was allot faster in the old days
6:50 man, laguna seca looks weird
hehe :)
did this have an actual NTSC release?
Is this an evolution of the Italian Job game engine?
this game is from 2000 and has no analog options?
Damn the graphics is good for ps1 game
Like most games in emulator...
@@2012JvN if the emulator games look better, then the emulator is not 100% equal to the real thing
Boa tarde FIRST vai amém bom trabalho
Hello xTimelessGaming
Good old driving fast without blurr and crap
licensed Porsche is rare, licensed Ferrari also, but licensed Porsche AND Ferrari in one game O_O
Looks amazing, sounds horrific.
Pre-war cars weren't exactly the best sounding compared to the more exotic cars that came later, but yeah PS1 games can be really hit and miss when it comes to engine sound.
Is this emulator better than ePSXe?
Anything is - ePSXe is extremely outdated by today's standards. These days you should either use DuckStation or Beetle PSX.
@@CookiePLMonster thanks
NFS 5 porsche engine ???
Looks very near.
This game has very nice grafics, but the speed of the cars is too fast. It seems they are driving at modern F1 speeds.
Haha MAFIA 1 remake be like
Im suprise thar Auto Union was in this game
Nana girafinha
turning speeds and braking distances are so way off, its killing the fun
@ch282 yes and more importantly the driving is not realistic nor fun
@ch282 Also their top speeds are waay too low.
@ch282 well thats the problem. NFS had arcade physics, but it felt ''good''.
This didnt felt, well anything.
@@karelpipa Probably why I never heard of it. Gran Turismo were the only games to really do sim racing well on the PS1, some of the motorsport games like some F1 games also tried it but even they would feel arcadey by today's standards. Most games ended up being arcade racers more or less.
@@mrjohnnyk yeah but many other racing arcade games would be still enjoyable as they would follow their own rules and "physics".
Not this game though

Is this a poors man High Stakes?
Seems like it, High Stakes was my game back in the day.
I wished this game had high stakes gameplay and physics, who cares if it will be the same game, it would be another instant classic!
No straight aways. Hide draw distance. Like ridge, rage racer.
Laguna Seca! LOL
Br eu sou
the game looks nice but the sound is very ugly.
This one was good looking but with horrible gameplay.
Why muting the music at the start? Lame.
To avoid Copyright infringment. Actually is a logic move.
Driving looks really bland...
daumen down, weil qualli nichts ist, sorry
Oh wow this looks amazing, considering that the original game.looked and played like crap
