I’m not in the academic sphere but have been on the job market a few months and find these vlogs SO supportive and nourishing during a very tumultuous time! I feel so seen! You got this Sarah 💪
As someone who’s also on the job market, I aways look forward to your vlogs! I’m in the social sciences and I don’t think people not in academia truly understand how stressful and life consuming this process is. Your vlogs have been such a kind reminder that I’m not alone in this!
Having been on the academic job market twice in the last few years, it is so stressful. It’s important to keep things in perspective and keep reminding yourself you’re more than your job. So much of the academic job market takes control out of our hands. Good luck with everything !
Sarah, I understand the stress which you are going through with you PhD and looking for jobs. It is not easy especially if you get rejected or they do not answer. You will pull through. Once you are finished with your PhD, you will be far less stressed and be happy that you have achieved your degree.
I've been watching you since you were at home, in Florida, during covid - when you mentioned that period of your life it just made me realize how long I've been following your journey 🥹 Also, I appreciate your honesty about the job market and your feelings during this phase. I'll be applying for jobs, hopefully, by this time next year and I can only imagine how anxious I'll feel... Thank you for sharing your experience ❤
Hi Sarah, I definitely understand the feelings of a closing chapter. I don't know what the future holds for you in the job market but things will eventually work out. If one path doesn't work out something else will. Good luck with your job search and your studies.
I totally understand the whole need to get away from Bloomington (or any college town) and going home! It makes perfect sense and I am glad you have the freedom to enjoy that time with your family
Big hater of those Did You Or Didn't You - I Definitely Did websites that are rampant in academia! Glad Megan's got your back on that! Good luck on these new apps! Especially the one you're super excited for!
I’m in the same boat as you right now! I’m applying to academic jobs as well and have been SO stressed about it all. I have also been checking the wiki stuff and as much as it hurts when I see that someone else got an interview and I didn’t, it also makes me stop wondering about that specific position. But I also feel the same way with the what else do you want me to do, somehow publish a book right now?😂 solidarity, sister! I am wishing you all the good vibes!
Sarah, I feel like I'm a part of your life. I think you should shoot outside more often because it makes the vlog even more engaging. Anyways, it's YOU who is the pulling force in your vlogs, and I want you to get a million subscribers and I hope that you buy that house someday. Love and Prayers from Pakistan.
I need your discipline with coffee consumption. I have been doing this toxic thing of having a coffee in the morning and during each class I teach and its BAD. Then I'll be like why am I feeling anxious??? 😅
It is a link specifically for the job market in Rhetoric & Composition! I am hesitant to share because it can be really toxic but here it is! academicjobs.fandom.com/wiki/Rhetoric/Composition_2024-2025#Word_on_the_Street Please take it all with a big grain of salt!

I loveeee that phrasing to describe those websites! That’s exactly what they are 😂

I was looking for something to watch :)

Try decaf! Or tea! ❤
I got a rejection the other day for a job I had forgotten I had applied to because it had been two months 💀at least it didn't sting as much lol
I’ve heard stories of people hearing back a year later 😅😅😅
If you switch the date and time in the settings of your switch you should be able to experience the event for animal crossing :D
Omg this is so smart
Can I ask what website is the anonymous academic market? I am working on my graduate degree and would love to have that link! Thank you
