    Found this clip when looking at impact of stress on the lymbic system. I am a nurse who works in a high stress environment, tinnitis has been a recurring/unexplained problem I have sought help for but no good explanation or strategies given to reduce (I was made to feel rather silly when seeking help). Thank you for this explanation, of late stress in overdrive due to pandemic impacts, but indepth explanation of the mechanisms helps me reduce/control my body & mind's response & reinforces the need for self care. Thank you so much!

    I am so happy to find this video of yours. I been having tinitus ( with cicada noise) for 3 years ( had MRI/ ENT done 2 years ago ) but didn't bother me then. I could go to sleep at night no problem. But my tinitus got worse 2 weeks ago and it was a nightmare for me. The ringing got louder especially at night with some cicada/criket and electric noise ( I can't stand the electric noise). First two nights I was woken up in the middle of the night and got panic. I thought my life was over until I fond this video and learn the circle of tinitus. I also learn to meditate before i go to bed from your video too. Thank you Dr.Ben!

    Mine progressed to waves of frightening pulsing or humming, thought I was dying, it’s absolutely petrifying, had an emergency Ct which was clear apart from a minor sinus issue, done days it’s unbearable, I suffered with bad panic attacks and very bad left shoulder and neck pain about 3 months before the ringing tinnitus began in my left ear from nowhere.
    It’s really upsetting.

      Focus on calming your nervous system at all costs. It could seriously just be stress related. It’s been a crazy tough year , I have 21,19 yr old daughters , we’ve been thru the ringer. No pun intended. Relaxing your fight or flight state could take a full year. I’m getting close. Breathing and just being happy.

    I found that in addition to the usual noise, I also have this symptom: when I tense the neck muscles with a jaw movement I hear a loud high frequency, and the longer I hold it the louder I hear some extra noise (like "snow" from old TVs) which is loudest when I release the muscles and then lasts a few seconds and then disappears. I have also tried it several times and if I make (several times) strong movements with the jaw (e.g. I open my mouth wide) a loud buzzing occurs in one of the ears which stops in a few seconds. I read and this is obviously somatic tinnitus. By the way, the dentist once told me I had a small jaw. I want to solve the problem as soon as possible because I am enrolling in college soon, but because of this pandemic, going to a specialist has been waiting for months. How do you think this kind of tinnitus could get rid of? I am young and the audiogram shows excellent hearing.

    A thoughtfull video all the ideas are very nice and valuable but Dr Ben if I not bother from this noise .I feel it is OK no problem but the noise is still present there ,then the brain will react constantly and damag itself ....After habituation how I will stop this damage or loss?

    • @dougandvalclutton623
      @dougandvalclutton623 3 года назад +2

      The noise may continue to be present, but the "reaction" of the brain will not cause damage - it is a perception. If you have hearing loss - there are multiple causes for that - some systemic, some physical/structural, some environmental. Work with Audiology and ENT to determine if there is a way to avoid further loss. Tinnitus is a symptom, not a disease.
