I feel it is still cheaper than the Toyota Tax.
@scottminshall6420 for sure. And once inventory builds the deals on these will be excellent making it one of the best truck buys. Just like it is in 2024
@@scottminshall6420 more than ONE Toy tax these days. Pay when you buy, and AGAIN if the weak components break after warranty.
Stick with a 2024 or older 4runner, then 🤷. I have yet to find a weak component.
They get handed the opportunity of a lifetime thanks to Toyota. Dont screw it up.
Yes they did
It's not just thanks to Toyota. Nissan has made a great product regardless of Toyota negligence. But I know where you're coming from. Blind brand loyalists are now forced to open their eyes.
@@jeanclaude7018 I hear ya. Toyota handed Nissan a gift from Heaven. Toyota still does not realize the long term damage they have done to themselves. Imagine if the Titan wasnt cancelled?
@@jamesgullo8240 Too bad Nissan had no crystal ball to tell them the Toyota negligence to come. Even so, I STILL don't understand why Titan didn't fare better. Every bit as robust as Tundra.
@@jeanclaude7018Titan probably alot better, given the recent Tundra engine issues
Yeah, but the base engine in the Colorado is a heavily detuned turbo 4 with a weaker automatic than the hi-po turbo 2.7, whereas in the Frontier you get the same engine and trans no matter the trim or spec, so even if the Frontier costs a bit more at the base level you’re getting a much better powertrain on the lower end of the price range.
It's not detune it's a different/weaker engine.
@@robertopics yes, it has a different turbo, tuning and various other part changes but it is the same basic engine architecture. I apologize for not spelling out every single one of the specific details that cause it to differ from the high output version, but I figured “heavily detuned” would imply that it was more than just a difference in software, but I suppose that isn’t the case.
@@phantom0456 no worries, to my foreign understanding detuning meant/implied software differences.
@@robertopics it’s all good, my friend.
@@phantom0456 very true
Please note the 2025's come with Technology package standard and that is almost $1000
Great point
Honestly they should come with the tow package and bedliner instead checked out some pro4xs recently none had a tow hitch or bedliner. My 2020 SV midnight came with both
@@moichamoy2274 "Pro4x?" Just what kind of a gimmick is that? Pretty decals?
And the technology package is BS.
I still like the look of the Colorado ZR2. I wish I could mix and match the Colorado, Frontier, and Tacoma and create my own truck
@@ferretapocalypse that would be awesome
Nissan’s in a good position now with the 2025 Frontrier, They can sell a lot of the Frontiers, just hope the dealers don't mess it up with ridiculous markups and add on’s but knowing how automotive business culture is, they will get greedy + mess it up. Thanks Samko, good review.
@yardboy3955 nissan does a good job of keeping thier dealers in check when it comes to mark ups. I don't think nissan will tolerate dealers doing make ups
Nissan is always really good about discounts and incentives. I've seen completely loaded Pro-4X go for $44k.
Yep nissan deals well
Got my 24 pro4x for 41k here in Michigan couple of months ago
The price will be more than it’s worth and more than most want to spend as usual
Prefer my Gladiator but when/if I replace it the Frontier is definitely worth a look. Love the way Colorados look, still not sold on the 4 cyl turbo motors. Thanks for the video!
Everything you mentioned is a great truck. It's good to have so many excellent choices
I'm happy that I got my 2024 pro4x. The only thing from the 2025 I would like to have is the telescopic wheel. But I think I can add it to mine with no effort.
i was thinking the same thing, i remember certain things from older models of other vehicles like the xterra you can swap components lol and they werent too hard to install. obviously things like the infortainment is different but a steering wheel even the lift gate or the front grill will be swapable lol
No, you can’t. Don’t be dumb.
@tg8150 did you check this part? It seems doable
May trade in my 2023 taco for one
@appleztooranges it's gonna be an amazing truck and the deals will be solid once inventory stacks up a bit
@@Jason-Samkothe deals on the 2024 are going to be even more amazing as the 2025’s get closer to release. They are already really good if you shop around a little.
Say what!? The last year of the 3rd gen is bulletproof and holds its value exceptionally well.
@@jeeperwill6262 got it undercoated and have fear I ruined it

Still way less than Tacoma and in my experience Nissan dealers are more open to negotiating than Toyota.

Can't wait for the PRO4x long bed.
So glad they are making it

@@bambam4530 same as the sv, just dressed up for the woods😂
Looks like you can go on the Nissan build site and build out a 2025 Nissan Frontier now
@@davidwalker989 yep they just made it live.
2025 comes standard with the technology package now. Which is a 1k upgrade in 24
Toyota’s loss is Nissan’s gain. I was a die hard Toyota guy but they are steadily losing faith.
@@TS-ic1ol many toyota guys feel the same now
No Pro4X king cab for USA, no sale. It’s ridiculous.
Couldn’t agree more 😢
This just makes me happier I recently bought the 2024 Pro-4X before they started getting scarce. I don't like that $1500 bump there because that can be saved and used towards the price of an extended warranty. If you're waiting for a '25 there is no harm in driving the '24 because I got $7,000 off the MSRP and in my world that kind of money talks a lot louder than a bigger screen, a telescoping steering wheel ( I think it's already at the right position) and some styling changes. Just go test drive it, it's free.
I just purchased a fully loaded 2024 Super Black Frontier Pro4X $46,000 OTD. Also got the NMAC 60 month financing at 3.9%. I think I got a decent deal. I plan to swap out the factory tires with the BFG KO2 tires to beef up the look of the truck. The only thing I dislike about the truck is the cylinder deactivation feature. I have to remember to to turn it off every time I drive the vehicle. I can't imagine the start and stop is good for the ignition system.
That's a good deal. I did less options on one in Boulder Gray and WITH the extended warranty price added on I got out of there for just about $37,700. I honestly only needed the tech package (and you get forced to have those side steps, off road adventure pack which includes the all weather floor mats). The rest I will do aftermarket in time.
The Frontier does not have cylinder deactivation, just the start-stop feature. Every newer vehicle has that start stop now and you get used to just pushing the button while you're releasing the parking brake. You can't escape that stupid "feature" no matter what you buy. Congrats on your truck! I'm really happy with this purchase as well.
@@Scroll_Lock agree 100
@leejeffers1240 congratulations on your new frontier!
@@Scroll_Lock congratulations on your new frontier as well but I think I've said that a time or 2 already😂
What a stupid article when it comes to prices. They shouldn't claim it's more expensive when comparing a 2024 to a 2025. For some reason so many car publications do whatever they can to put Frontiers into a bad light. Then reviewers come along later and reveal the bias the publications have towards the Frontier.
Exactly
Thanks for this information!
Very welcome
I have a 2023 Pro-X, I do like the new styling, is it dramatic enough to make me want one, not really.
Nothing wrong with what you have! Save the money and enjoy it
25 Pro4X LB is my next vehicle just gotta wait for them to arrive. Nicer tires would go along way too. Thinking Falken Wild Peaks might be doable in the snow in the Great White North.
Buy the tires online before you pick up the truck and have the dealer install them (will do for free since your buying the truck). Then sell the originals as zero mile basically new for good money to offset the cost of the new ones. That's what I do with every vehicle I buy
@@Jason-Samko fantastic idea
@dangerfield85 I buy second set rims and have set of dedicated snow tires 3 peak rated with studs for winter here in northern Alberta I do same for wife and kids vehicles . Wouldn't be without my studded snow tires, especially with all ice fishing and late season hunting I do
Great video, thanks for all your hard work
@@jorgeresto5688 thank you
I really wish the pro x came with a rear locker the last 2 4x4 i never really needed the 4wd id put it in 4 high once a month or so but i live in s fla & i dont go out to the everglades or anything so the pro x would serve me best as we have flash floods occasionally & the extra height is helpful so for me the pro x works fine however a locking rear would be great to have as itd likely get me out of any situation i can imagine id get myself into im pretty sure im buying a pro x in the next 5-7 months when it should be a better time to get a deal also thanks for another great review i always enjoy them
Agree a 2wd teuck should come with a rear locker option..that would literally double its traction
@@Jason-Samko exactly I love 4x4s & if I still lived in taxachussetes I'd opt for it but living in fla I don't need it part of me wants it but I have no real use for it in Fla so I'm going with a prox & a 2" lift leveling kit probably a steel bumper & keep it for a long while as I can still get a reliable naturally aspirated V6 that'll last as it'll be a long term vehicle for me
I'm wondering if it would bolt in. Option box to check would be nice though.
A top spec 4x4 could easily save someone's life in shtf/hurricanes way down south. It does cost a lot more.
@@Torch4Life I'm guessing that would not be a Tundra or Tacoma these days? Forward motion could suddenly stop at any time.
My brother in law is looking to replace his 2014 Tacoma trd offroad and I was telling him about the Tacomas price jump. He went to his local dealer here in Pennsylvania and couldn’t get the dealer to go below 53k on a trd sport. He called me and said, I’m keeping my truck haha
@@justaname109 yep toyota lost it's mind
Nissan has the chance to be huge if they don’t mess up
That new grill just messed with all the current aftermarket bumper dimensions and designs. They should have just left it, it looked better anyways.
Price is irrelevant. As soon as the dealers get their hands on it they will do the mark-ups to screw customers. No one learned from toyota's disaster. Selling more than everyone else only works when you don't piss off customers.
Never seen nissan do mark ups on trucks. I don't think we will see one
@@Jason-Samko I've seen one review so far on you tube where the dealer did a 3k markup for ceramic coat and one other thing. Hopefully it's an isolated incident.
@michaelprince77 that's add ons not mark ups (adm, additional market adjustment). But I would not pay for the the dealer required add ons and often they can be negotiated out of
I wanted a 2024 model and they have the right dicounts but not in my configuration.
I would say this is one of the few chances that Nissan has to make a come back.
They need to go for market share and get people interested in the brand again. This means stop catering to the high and luxury market and focus on the general public.
@@Dfgbuiiyyyybb agree
Just enough of a refresh in my opinion, not to mention the price difference between the top tier trucks in the segment.
For example the pro 4x compared to a TRD Pro.
Like almost 70k for a midsize …. That’s pushing it even for Toyota.
Agree
But to be fair the pro 4x doesn’t competes against the trd pro an I mean the new 2024 trd pro it competes against the 3rd gen Tacoma but not the 4th gen
I'm undecided between purchasing the 2025 Nissan Frontier or the 2025 Ridge for camping and road trips. My budget is $45K. Can you recommend one??
Tough choice. Both will do exactly what you want. The Honda will road trip a little better and the frontier will offroad better. Both are amazing. Drive Both and find what you like best
Trucks have become to expensive. Would love to have a new one, just can’t bring myself to spend that amount of money.
I’d pay more than the Colorado to keep a real motor in a vehicle…
I saw this article last night and I have no idea where they got their price comparisons…but it seems like they are trying to down play how good the frontier is compared to the rest of the field.
Ugh I'm just never going to buy any new vehicle ever again!
This new pro4x will be able to be bought new for 38k 6 months from now I bet. Once inventory loads and 24s are gone
@@Jason-Samko $40k.... nope. Not spending that much
@@kenkneedee exactly
Frontier gas mileage real world no better than a full size truck
slightly better, but its negligible. I don't think people buy them for increased MPG though. I know my friend got one over a full size truck because it can do everything needed and actually fits inside the garage, and a full size cannot fit.
Hopefully with Supreme Court rulings against the EPA we could get a diesel in the Frontier.
I personally would not buy a diesel in the USA today. All the Def and emission after treatment stuff kills reliability
Do you know what they did different to get higher towing, or did they just rated it low before
Good question. Probably a tweak in spring rate
@@Jason-Samko kinda what I was thinking, didn't know if the change the any in the gearing or suspension
The entire lineup is $1500-$3000 more expensive. Nissan management still doesn't know what they are doing. They have a golden opportunity and are gonna blow it trying to upcharge on what is a budget brand.
More features and more standard equipment. It's likely that Nissan will still be aggressive on discounts once these have been on the lots for a while. I don't ever like prices going up, but a fully loaded Frontier will still be thousands less than the competition.
made in the USA AND A REAL Automatic Transmission .
imagine a Nissan pro4 full package sell at 45k out the door...that thing will be flying off the lot...imo
2024 pro4x are selling for mids 30s right now. Lots of people getting them for thst in the comments on my frontier videos
I’ll buy anything without a turbo at this point.
Screen - hideous. Google OS - loss of privacy. Front end redesign - it's okay (but I love the orange paint). Personally I'd take the 2024, although the lack of 6ft bed on the 2024 Pro4X is disappointing!
I really like the refresh. I'm glad they didn't go overboard on tech and stupid stuff. They kept it clean reliable and affordable. The affordable part is because of how easy it is to negotiate nissan.
Screen MUCH better looking than Tacoma paste-on monitor!
@jeanclaude7018 better than tacoma but not better than the current frontier. Personally, I don't want a gigantic iPad in my car. It looks tacky and it's distracting. I'm cool with 7-9 inches and nicely integrated. I bought a 2013 car specifically because I didn't want a screen 😅
@@timflint25 Yep, I thought the old one was plenty too. I have 2 vehicles with no screen. 3 if you count my 63 VW. How do I survive each day?
Is there a way to get a king cab. Crew cabs make no sense for mid size vehicles
Yes, they do make them. Saw one at local dealer.
Without a canopy, a crew cab and 6 foot bed makes the most sense.
Need to stop at Home Depot before heading out for a job? A pressure washer, chain saws or small wood chipper can be safely placed in the rear seat area of a crew cab and covered with a tarp.
Don't want to leave a large ice chest in an open bed? It fits in the back seat area of a crew cab truck.
Going camping, fishing or hunting? More duffel bags and equipment fits in a crew cab.
Have children or small passengers? They fit comfortably in the back of a crew cab.
People making comments for the leisure life of inactive single people and their mall crawlers is always entertaining.

On that note I will ask my good friend in Nissan
Don’t want anything to do with all the electronic “crap”, just don’t need it. Love to have just the AC, and a radio. I prefer a stick shift and roll up windows. Just don’t need the “sh$t!” It’s a truck. If you want all that nonsense, go to Toyota and spend 60-70 thousand for your up to date moon crawler. For a true guy who off roads the thing, will mod it on the suspension and don’t need it to ride like an Escalade. Or better yet, a Nissan Maxima.
So Nissan didn’t take the Toyota method and jack up the price
Just a little increase similar to waht all brands do with a refresh. Nissan did well
Can i buy one already... Lol. My 99 sonoma is struggling
You can pre order one but you’re paying full price. And idk if markup

All that money and all you get is a Nissan that looks like a Tacoma? 😂😂😂

Nissan wants $46k for pro4x with mild refresh 😂. If it had a supercharger and a front locker, Nissan would be at the top of my of my list among TOYOTA, GM, Ford.
That's 46k for the SL, Pro-4X is 43k. The SL trim has always been the most expensive.
43k for the pro4x and will be much lower when inventory loads up. Agree if it had a feontblocker if buy one. Don't need the super charger though
@@Jason-Samko agreed. There is a supercharger in development from Z1 Offroad....their testing shows 401whp and 374lbft at the wheel....but I have to question long term reliability on a boosted 11:1 engine.
3 bolt ons and a tune will net an additional 40whp over stock (intake, catback and intake manifold spacer) for mid 260s at the wheel...and it would still be reliable with proper maintenance.
