Aside from the audition itself, what struck me in this clip was the emotion from his dad at the end when he said his son loves music and he wanted him to succeed. That was gold. Not everyone has their mom and/or dad behind them while pursuing their dreams. Good on ya Mr. and Mrs. Lewis. Oh and as far as Blake goes, he's very cool. One of the best performers in AI history because of his unique approach to performances, whether or not you like beatbox, he was unique.
Yeah, I didn't think he came across as cocky at all, like he says they made him seem in the article this vid was linked to. He just did his thing and took Simon in stride, so I think he handled it well, especially for a 25-year-old.
They claim they want somebody with confidence, then when they encounter someone with talent who exudes self-assurance, they try to break him down. Wtf?
Blake has actually said that he didn’t appreciate how the show portrayed him as “cocky” when that wasn’t the case at all, like the way Simon says “I don’t think you’re as good as you THINK you are.” Knowing that, you can tell they were trying to create a story, as most reality shows do. Also, the judges HIGH-pressured him into beatboxing, even though he said “no” 3 times because he apparently really didn’t want to beatbox for his audition; he really wanted to just sing. Never realized how rough the editing was until rewatching it.
Aww! That's so sweet of his dad to say that about Blake! I just love the way how he genuinely shows support for his one and only son. THAT'S the way how a parent should truly encourage his or her own child.

He wasn’t the best AI contestant, but I definitely think he was the most interesting. I also really appreciate his albums he’s released. All of them are good, and catchy enough that the mainstream audience really should have given him a better reception than he’s gotten so far.

yeah. its an amazing cd. there are soo many different rhythms and beats in the music. its a very cool cd. never heard anything like it. some nice ballads with a nice bass line, and in between each song he has little beatboxing fade ins and outs

I remember when I was 10 years old. That was the year this season was going on with Blake Lewis. I had the biggest crush on him. He reminds me of myself speaking from confidence because he had blonde spiky hair like mine.
there's a big difference between displaying your talent and putting it in an art form. and showing it off and acting like you're the most talented person in the room.
