My father passed away couple of months ago in Mexico. Before he was buried, I adapted the song to a short poem in a Spanish version. I said this in front of everyone. I barely made it, and goes like this:
    "
Hoy, hoy no soy tu hijo
Hoy tu no eres mi padre,

When you began telling your story, I listened even closer...and then you began singing this song. In my 51 years there have been maybe 4 artists to bring me to tears and only one who brought tears that I could not stop. That was you!! Regardless of the results of this competition, I have no doubt you will go far with your talent. Your rendition of this song is so very special and I will pray that God brings you success. You deliver a love that is so rare in music these days. My heart broke during this performance but I immediately became a fan. This song, whether yours or not, was written for you to sing at this special moment in your journey. I truly wish you all the best in your career and life.

I'm 74. I lost my Dad nine years ago. I was 12,000 miles away and within 24 hours of learning he was dying I got on a plane heading home. He passed while I was in the air and to this day I regret not getting to say goodbye. This young man expressed in just a couple of minutes how anyone who has lost a parent feels. The roles change, father to son, mother to daughter, but the love lives on, and the memories are forever.

Iam is a wonderful example of what's right with this show. So happy for him to have lived and loved in paradise on earth.

I feel like a lot of people always have sob stories on this show sometimes to get in or sometimes they are real but holy crap this one was genuine. Not even a sob story, just a kind young man who lost his father to early in his life. Thank you

The fact that this is the most viewed video on the American platform ever tells you just how much his audition and how his spirit has connected with so many people. Love Iam, doing great things to share the culture, the spirit, and the power of music. Just Amazing!

I'm a grown man and this brought me to tears. What a legacy you've created in your dad's name. To think that we all know the name Rodney because of the talent he nurtured in you.
