In my area, the lease deal on the VF8 is crazy good. $1,000 down and $249 a month for 36 months, excluding taxes/fees. Compare that to the current Model Y lease of $3k down and $449 a month for 36 months, excluding taxes/fees. At the end of the lease, you’ll have shelled out over twice as much for the Tesla - $19,146 vs $9,964. Given the ever changing state of EV technology, getting a great lease may be the best way to go, assuming the mileage cap won’t be an issue.

I can't think of a consumer EV that lets you fully disable the traction control. An electric motor is basically an on/off switch if no current control is in place. No matter what you need to have some amount of traction control in place. Otherwise you get a result like this where you have 100% of the torque immediately and you end up with an uncontrolled situation. As much as I love a good burn out, I would say this is a dangerous design. It's totally uncontrollable. Vinfast really should patch that.

For me, the software problem is similar to that of Tesla when it first built a car. 8 years ago, I had a Tesla from a friend in California. I tried it and had the same problem as Vinfast. If this company can survive the next 5 years, they will There will be a solid foothold. As for the price of the car, I agree that it is quite expensive, but considering that it is imported and does not have subsidies from the government, the price is quite reasonable, I know they have plans to build factory in America, if this car will have a more competitive price with competitors, yes we also have new options, let them develop, anyway we have the same lesson as Toyota when they first came to America, Maybe Vinfast will be like them or at least achieve half of what Toyota has tried since its appearance in the US.

Astroturfing doesn’t work when it’s so obvious.
That said, it does look like Vinfast has put in the work over the last year to overcome the initial issues, and now it feels like the VF8 is a competent EV, comparable to a Toyota bz4x or similar. An acceptable commuter/city car with _occasional_ road-trip chops.
Honestly, it seems like their biggest problem is their anemic dealer/service network, and the price has to come down significantly. But the product itself is acceptable now. And unlike Fisker, Vingroup has some staying power.

Give them another 3 - 5 years and they may no longer exist or they will truly develop into a reputable brand with good quality. However, this 2024 version also proves that they have improved and listened to customers' opinions. row. In the near future, I heard that in the last quarter of this year they will sell their VF9 car in the US. According to information, I know that this car has much better quality because the company has invested heavily in it. The problem I think is the least attractive of the car is the price. Importing from Vietnam and not receiving subsidies from the US government causes the price of the car to increase quite a lot, making it stand at the price of a segment. different cars, but nonetheless their lease is much more attractive than Tesla's.
