- The parents of a boy who died after he was electrocuted by overhead power cables have launched a campaign film warning of the dangers of trespassing on the rail network.
The film tells the story of 11-year-old Harrison Ballantyne, who died in 2017 after he strayed into a rail freight depot to retrieve a lost football.
Despite not touching the power cables, Harrison died at the scene after he was hit by 25,000 volts of electricity which had formed an arc.

I think the rail companies should have done videos like this a few years ago to warn about the dangers of people sticking their heads out of train windows, a good few people have been injured or killed doing this and yet nobody has made a serious warning video about it and so many people used to do it, kids teens and adults alike. probably still do where those trains with openable windows are still in operation.
We need a parental upbringing film too
that was very shocking...
Hope every school will show and talk of this.
My mate Patrick Davies is the actor that plays harrison. Our school showed us the video to the whole school.
I had a talk about it at my school today
My school did it on thursday
I had it today 😢@@No.1HungerGamesFan
Everything is done... but only after someone DIES😢
Do you need to be told not to drink straight from the kettle after it boils? Or to not put your hand on the stove?
@@lukerogers6133Ur right. The people who made it shouldn't be responsible for the publics stupidity
I mean it common knowledge I knew as a child not to go any where near railway tracks never mind overhead lines and third rail RIP
25,000 volts from overhead railway power supply takes no prisoners I’m afraid. Safe distance 6 foot.
I watched this at school and I hope hope his family are well ❤

Life isn't a dress rehearsal
You're here once
And then you're gone
Forever
It’s so true tho 😢
We learned about this in school and thanks for telling me to be careful on tracks my brother died on tracks to.
Be careful next time bro that train could have hit you
This was so sad😢
As a rail employee myself, I appreciate the safety films like this that warn people of just how many hidden dangers the railway has, who may not be familiar with it.
I have in person, in January 2023, witnessed the true dangers of the OLE, when one of them snapped above a Class 319 train and caused the loudest bang I've ever heard and arcing, sending the wires hurtling onto the platform, literal meters from me and other employees. To this day I still talk about to friends and family and knew how close I came to death or injury. I always do my best to warn anyone who may have balloons or large items on the platform that go above the 'cant line' on the train and could put them in danger. Some think you're talking nonsense, but it's those who think that, that are more likely to be in danger. Be safe on the railway guys, whether you're a passenger or a worker.
How did they get his voice if he was dead?

it honestly shocks me how idiotic people could be 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Um this just scares you. It doesnt even give you any advice🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
Did we watch the same video?
It advisees you against going into a railway depot where there are high voltage wires that risk killing you if you get too close. I’d say that’s pretty solid advice.
