    Tampa Bay area here. I see MH 440's here all the time for too much money. I think the best ad I have seen was: $1200 if I pull it. $500 if you pull it.. Quite often these are old rotted and moldy motorhomes people were living in till they got so bad, no one could live in it anymore and the property owners just want to get rid of them. Call the junk man and the junk man is usually the guy with the crazy ads....
    You can also find deals if you look hard and get lucky. I purchased a 440 from a guy a few hours South of me for $14.00.. He had it on EBAG with the words: MUST PICK UP. NO SHIPPING. Yup, I had the high bid of $14.00 and the block is great!

      Steve 1961P. That’s a deal! I still look for the motor home engines here. Sometimes they can be really low miles. But 1200 is too much

    The trans at 100 is ok but I'm to use to getting them for $25.....and degrease the valve body and put it in evapo rust liquid and it'll be saved. That 440 is a motor home engine I've seen them as high as $1500 I bought two 35,000 mile ones with transmission for $200 and $350. The locked up carb good at $25 put it in evapo rust it'll get free, got an AVS off a 70 charger $5 at yard sale, I'm with you I don't sell much but I do help people out when I can and if I don't have a use for a part I'll give it to someone who needs it. In NJ used car parts have gone crazy in prices they usually charger more for what they call vintage parts and junk yard have closed but still take cars in and send them to Mexico!.....ugh!..... I did get the back of a 73 charger I had to cut it from the back of front seats $250 for body panels. When you change out output shafts on 727s take note of the year of the trans your getting the output shaft from or swapping the splines changed in their angles from different years and can strip out the aluminum planetarys and then no drive if you need pictures I can send them knowledge is power! Merry Christmas!

      I started in high school in the 80s. First car was moms old 68 Charger. Big block auto car, nearly perfect with 150k miles, just tired. Started collecting parts, and stripped complete cars for $100 each... I had piles of consoles, clusters, mint interior panels, taillights, you name it, if it was 68 Charger, I had at least a half dozen!! Over the years owned 5 more 68s and never paid more than $500 for complete non-rusty cars. Wrecking yards always had Satellites and Belvederes for parts, mostly small blocks but big blocks were out there too... There were rows of Darts n Demons that I ignored, thinking "junk"... Now A bodies are all I can (barely) afford😞😞 I remember the Direct Connection catalog being my Christmas wish list...!!! Ahh the good ol days... Nowadays im lucky to find anything worth bringing home. Crazy how everything just got scarce one day and I didnt notice til it was too late!!

    I think the reason ‘brand new’ Mopar parts are so expensive is the companies will sell 10 Chevy parts for every 1 Mopar part, then that drives up the ‘used’ market price. Intake manifolds are a perfect example.

The place is still there, but the pirating owner passed several years ago. Apparently, they are planning a TV show documenting the resto of many of the cars there. $100 for Performer RPM is a good deal as I'm always looking for a good deal on intakes. The other intake you are talking about is a Speedmaster that they ran on Black Friday for 40% off. I got the polished one for $157 shipped. Have you seen what people try to get out of Edelbrock LD340 intakes?? It is insanity!!
    As far as the 440 goes, that is way overpriced for an engine of unknown condition and I'm sure one can be far cheaper elsewhere. They are still cheaper than 340's right now which people think are made of gold. 360's are dirt cheap in my area. The last few swap meets I went to did not have any deals.

      DR440 every 340 around here is usually 500$ plus for a bored out, sleeved, and patched block. I just mentioned to someone that I sold a LD340 on a 68 318 and 904 for 200$ to a good buddy of mine. I still think an air gap or a torker would out perform the LD340.

    • @DR440
      @DR440 3 года назад

      @@JustMoparJoe 100% with you on that. If a person already has the Air-gap or Performer RPM, there would be no gain in switching to or paying up for a LD340. I have no experience with the Torker but know that the Weiand X-celerator is a good street machine intake for a 340/360. @@garryhatchett775 You done pretty well on that buy. I've seen them from $1000 to $2500 recently but not sure if people are actually paying that, which would be an extreme gamble to put that into an engine of unknown condition. Good luck on the build!!

    Good deal on the intake. The holy grail for intakes is the LD 340. Look on email for crappy ones with stripped carb mounting holes for $400 and up. Those manifolds are so old it’s difficult to find a good one. $100 for trans core ok. Unfortunately, the prevailing attitude is if it’s mine and you want/need it, it’s value is priceless. If it’s yours and I want/need it, it’s not worth anything. Some people have selective sight and memory too. Daniel Lachance thanks brother. If you pass a big block car on the drag strip, they’d have to respect you! For us it’s usually hp per square dollar. The big block will definitely win that battle, but I’m usually more impressed when a small block runs faster than most big blocks.

      @@JustMoparJoe absolutely... For every guy like us that tries to be fair, theres two that are overpricing everything and hurting everyone... Even decent ppl often look online to get an idea of what they should price their items at, and end up artificially high because of the overpricers....

    What's wrong with RV motors?

    • @JustMoparJoe
      @JustMoparJoe  3 года назад +1

      Nothing! Unless they have the giant heads and water pump on the front. Then you’ve only got a low compression short block. I buy everyone that’s a fair deal. They just don’t have the value of a traditional 440 with usable valvetrain and heads.

    The all steel rust parts ( the parts that are not part of a rebuild kit ) you put them in white vinegar for 2-3 days and shake the gallon of white vinegar with the parts in it, and all the rust comes off. Just remember to coat them with WD-40 wen you remove them from the vinegar. It cleans them like brand new.

    Your pretty spot on with those prices. I've paid more for a RV 440 mainly because I wanted it and in my area they tend to run 500-1000 depending on condition. What we really need to to discuss in the MOPAR community are these dang 89-93 Dodge Cummins prices!! Everyone with their $1500-$3000 truck wants $8500-$12,500! Heck the average price for a truck that needs everything and beat to heck is $5500-$7500, Ridiculous ! I need to find a donor for my Crew cab .... That's why I'm complaining HAHA

    • @JustMoparJoe
      @JustMoparJoe  3 года назад +1

      To each his own Duddie! They are you diesel guys coming 🤣🤣🤣. But seriously, the RV 440 is good, but they usually have junk compression and I’ve seen many with the jumbo trash heads and water pump assembly. I’d pay 700$ for a known runner, not one locked up lol

    Mopar parts are all over the place in pricing. Between mopar guys lets keep it so that we can all get our cars on the road. Trying to find a 8 3/4 sure grip in my budget is like finding a needle in a hay stack and when you do, just for the third member that requires a full rebuild they are asking $900 up here in BC, Canada.
