- It’s been a year now since we last took a look at the Radeon RX 7900XT, an enthusiast level graphics card from AMD’s latest line up and back then it didn’t make that much sense for the price but things have changed.

Still love my RX 7900 XT, I went for the Sapphire Pulse model which cost me about £750 when I got it. I play at 1440p high refresh and it's a brilliant card especially if not bothered about RT, like myself.
Could you tell me, is your card is good at 4k video rendering output in Adobe premiere pro?
@@ash6202 Sorry bud, not sure, I don’t use Adobe Premiere.
What refresh rate?
@@Muiurica2112 I have a 170Hz monitor so play at variable high refresh up to 170fps.
Love my 7900XT. It crushes everything I've thrown at it in 1440p. The RT has been very good in most of the titles where I care to use it (Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk 2077) but I honestly don't think game look that much better with RT cranked, frankly.
Yeah, you would just have to double your budget to get a little better picture, which to most eyes woudnt even make that much of a difference. People been playing on 1080p 60hz monitors for years calling it beautiful and all of a sudden they cant play anything that isnt OLED 4k with DLSS,RT etc etc... yeah right. for 700$ this graphics card will give u 85-90% of the possible world's graphics performance.
I picked up that same exact GPU early last year. It was an open box that was $685+ tax. Personally, I run it with a 1440p ultra wide monitor. I can run most games at max settings without any upscaling or frame generation. Being $900 at launch was excessive but $700 or less is a great value. Also, it would be nice to see the VRAM usage when you run benchmarks. I was curious to see how much VRAM those games were using at 4K in this video.
why you have tax after price!?isnt taxes already in prices
In the US, the listed price doesn't include tax. @@Mr11ESSE111
@@Mr11ESSE111 cuz Murica' thats why. All their prices are shown without tax (like why?) and taxes depend on their state laws. They also gotta do their own taxes at the end of the year, and getting it wrong can get u in jail lol. Its a just a wierd country to me overall, in most countries your goverment deducts everything before you get your paycheck, and all the prices shown are final with complete tax/vat shown.
I got the Powercolor 7900xt reference model on launch day since all xtx models were sold out at MicroCenter. 19 months later, I'm still pleased with my decision. I didn't have to worry about the cheap power adapters the Nvidia cards are plagued with, and also the 7900 xtx overheating issue we had with reference models.
Same here, got the 240hz 1440p Samsung G7 monitor but I keep games at 120-165 fps 1440p with a mix of high and ultra settings and all games look so great!
I found a 7900XT for £599 the other week, it was such an amazing deal. I was considering a 7900 GRE at the time so it was a no brainer for me to spend £70 more to get the extra vram and performance. Although I got a faulty one at first, Im getting my replacement tomorrow and am hyped as it was so fast compared to my 6700xt.
Extra vram never get bad ,specially on high bandwidth bus GPU.
I upgraded from a 6700xt too, it was a great card but the 7900xt is the business
@@riannair7101 yep even at 1440p I’ve had one instance already where it exceeds 12gb vram (what my 6700xt had, and allocated 16gb) so it’s pretty cool
@@po1odo1o I was selling my 6700xt, but I’m using it as my backup GPU now. It’s still super good I used it again while RMAing my 7900xt
Where did you find it for £599. I've looked everywhere and can't find it for that price?
I got my self a XFX version, RX7900XTX . It's a beast, runs everything at max graphic without any struggle.
Really want an XTX tbh. Will get one at some point.
I legit just ordered this card off Amazon for $689 USD shipped
Sweet! You will enjoy, it eats through anything.
@TechLabUK I'm pairing it with a 7800x3d I mostly play sqaud ready or not war or rights
@@sunnycat69 Nice!
@@sunnycat69i bought mine near launch for 800$ and used it for a month and got tired of issues in competitive games hopefully yours does fine maybe i should put it back in and see if drivers helped so far its been a paperweight lol.
I plan to buy a ryzen 7 78003XD with an RX 7900XT and 2x16GB 32GB DDR5 6000Mhz CL32 ram and an ASUS B650-E TUF mobo from microcenter and I plan my total build cost (desktop + monitor) being ideally in-between 1.5k-1.6k with all costs (shipping, sales-tax, other misc expenses), for 1440p gaming at 165hz for the total price is that good? Also, mostly aiming for preformance no unnecessary bells and stuff my desktop will legit just be a black box with spray-painted blue asthetic on it afterwards.
Sounds like it will be awesome!
I have a build with the same cpu, gpu, and board and I am very happy with the performance.
Love finding UK based channels, considering picking up a 7900XT or XTX for Black Friday this year. My old 1080 has started to show signs of its age now...
I’m new to the PC environment after twenty years or so using prebuilt gear and Apple (iPads/iphone) I’m using a Ryzen 5 5600x with built in discrete Radeon graphics. It’s such a great little PC, I’m enjoying the building experience as much as I’m enjoying the extent to which the technology has improved over the years. 😊 I like the idea of having a GPU like this but my current setup is absolutely smashing everything I throw at. 😊
Cyberpunk OC+UV+RTPT + FSR3FG + XESS1.3 mod 4k xessp 100fps RTGI medium+RT Reflections. Original path tracing mod ran 1440p xessp 120fps. OC can get you 2,2 > 3GHz for asus rog or nitro+ and 2,7-2,95 on pulse, depending on number of output fps. This card exists to be OCed/UVed. If FSR3.1 is at least close to Xess1.3 then I should be able to go 900p > 4k 90fps with path tracing.
I've got the sapphire reference, solid card. I usually fiddle with the 4k settings individually to get the 1% lows over 60 then I bang the v sync on. I find starting on medium and putting high textures on works fine, usually a few other settings can be upped as well. Will be upgrading from 5600x to 9700x this year, once I see if the x870 mobos take faster memory than b650/x670 boards. Think an offset generational leapfrog of CPU and GPU will keep me gaming forever!
This card will keep you going for a while lol
Are the issues with multi monitor power draw better than they were at launch?
I just picked up a 7900xt for USD 600 and plan to run a 1440p 144hz and 1080p 60hz set of monitors, but after some more reading I'm wondering if I'll be paying for it in idle power draw down the line.
Thanks for the informative video and any input is appreciated ~
While I love having my rays traced, there's no denying how good of a value this card is at less than $700, which is where you'll find it most of the time in the US. One thing to note is frame generation is not a performance-enhancing technology but a smoothness-enhancing one that's ideally suited for situations where your base frame rate is at 60 or greater.
I managed to pick up a 7900xt and a 7800x3d on a project zero mobo system used for $1300. Imo it’s great performance for the price. This video helped me decide to go for it. Thank you!
I have Sapphire same card. Day One i get it and still awesome. Just couple days ago i change termal pads with Termal Putty and put some Arctic MX4 termal paste and termals is better than ever right now.
I have this exact card that I picked up for 650USD open box last year. I like the dimensions of the reference cards since I run itx and other smaller builds. No complaints here. Good stuff!
If someone get a brand new 7900xt with great cooler for $600, then its a good deal imo.
I was able to buy the Asus TUF 7900XT for 570€. Is that a good price and should I keep it or wait for the new generation?
@@kizuda6943 Thats an excellent deal. Its a beast for 1440p and 4k gaming.
@@kizuda6943 Good price
That's a good price, I just bought a used reference card for $580 USD@@kizuda6943
@@kizuda6943 thats crazy cheap those go for like 800€ new in my country. Where did u buy it from?
I'm not into games but got into GPUs for running AI/LLMs/Machine Learning. I'm looking at this card, because it seems to be the best card for "budget" performance while offering 20GB RAM, RDNA3 and ROCm compatibility. This card is more capable than the current ones I'm running, and it's also less power hungry than the MERC 310 (24GB). So even though it's ~$700 US, I think I'll be getting it soon. Thanks for the review!
More than enough card if i had one. Am surprised with the 20GB ram, these don't sell in mass in work production workstations. Must be expensive features missing to be a real dual use gaming and work for professionals.
Yeah, since getting it worrying about VRAM has not been a thing. Sometimes I just forget it exists lol
lack of guaranteed CUDA compatibility/translation/recompile. Radeon cards would easily command Nvidia prices if amd ever decides to care about gpu acceleration. Which means it's good for gamers that AMD doesn't care about acceleration for whatever reason
Just picked one up about a week ago for 660 usd and absolutely love it with my 1440p monitor. A great pick up now.
In Germoney: Not below 699. Not interesting, got a 7800xt for a little more than 500€ instead - somewhere you have to set the limit.
Do you have maybe video on your channel about undervolting such power consumption GPU like this? In amd software ofcourse
I just bought an XFX Merc for £630. The price point is finally at a point its worth now. Thats over £200 less than it was on release and still £200 less than the xtx is now.
Huys i have the opportunity to upg4ade from 7800xt to 7900xt for less than 150e . Should i do it ?
Had this since Black Friday last year and this is great for 1440 Ultra wide (3440*1440). Only have a 60Hz monitor though lol. Had a few driver issues over the last 7 months but much better software than AMD ten years ago.
A real reviewer?
Not a Ngreedia bribed influencer?
They do exist!
Thanks for the video.
Sadly, it's hard to find reviewers like you, since all are bribed with free 4090$ and will never do any fair videos for AMD fans.
Personally, my 7900XTX has been flawless.
Really happy with it.
Keep up the good work.
We do also look at Nvidia cards but I have never even seen an RTX 4090 before (IRL) lol. Looking forward to getting my hands on a 7900XTX one day as they do look amazing.
@@TechLabUK my problem with the influencers is that all they do is the same thing, praise Ngreedia above all and always trash AMD.
None of them will ever make a video like this. They can't do a positive AMD video.
Just look at Ngreedia Unboxed, all of their videos are the same, trashing AMD, no matter what.
Don't get me wrong, it's ok to do Ngreedia videos, but be fair and point out their flaws, but nobody does that.
Anyways, I enjoyed this video and will take a look at the others.
@@grtitann7425 I have no issues with AMD GPUs, I like them. Never had an issue with one, I often switch between them, moved from an RTX 3070Ti to this 7900XT because I missed the Radeon software which is just better IMO. Also run Intel Arcs at the studio as they are quite fun to play with.
for 1440p gaming do you think it would be better to go for the 7900xt or save some money and go for the 7800xt?
Both will be great 1440p cards with the 7900xt lasting at that resolution a bit longer.
do you think 4k fsr performance looks better or worse than 1440p quality ?
I think it's different for everyone tbh. not so sure about "Performance" setting as I have never really used it but running in 4K with FSR on (Quality) looks just as good as 4K to me.
Also depends on the version of FSR as FSR3 looks a lot better than 1 and 2.
@@TechLabUK most small things (like power cables, neon signs, net fences, etc) look better with fsr quality than native, but my point was that fsr performance at 4k upscales from 1080p while fsr quality at 1440p upscales from 1706 x 960
@@damasterpiece08 Never tried then, with old GPUs I tend to try performance at lower resolutions to get GPUs to actually work and it always looks terrible.
The 7900xt is a funny beast. It is a great card and the price was wrong. Everyone can agree on that. With that said , at release, I purchased a 7800xt and since have purchased a 7900GRE and my youngest son traded his 6750xt for a 7700xt. Had the 7900xt released at £600 it would have been a jaw dropping gpu at the time versus the £1000+ that similar Nvidia cards expected. Most of my games do not support dlss and I have no need for RT (it is still a mess and I play in 1440p Ultra so no need) so Nvidia have not even been in my house since the 1080Ti.
I did not pay anywhere near msrp for any of our 7000 series AMD cards nor would I have. This last year GPUs really went above and beyond in insulting the diy geeks. I waited and paid well over 30% less than msrp on each of them but also had loads of tech to trade and sell toward them. I really like the 7900GRE but at £600 I can see trading my GRE or 7800xt toward it.
This card in my country goes for 849€ already with tax. Do you think it’s worth it?
Would this card be compatible with the asus PRIME b550-plus motherboard and the ryzen 7 5800x CPU with 750w power supply? I will be looking to upgrade the motherboard and CPU but would rather not have to do it all at once. Currently running the RX 6800xt
Yes, would run fine with it
@@TechLabUK brilliant, Cheers mate
just a day ago, i upgraded to 7900 xt from rx 480, very "little" bump in performance the cheapest 7900 gre here is 685 usd 7900 xt is 760 usd so ...
by the way im sad to retire my legendary rx 480 8gb, has been serving me well for 7+ years
Huge leap lol. Enjoy it!
Recently upgraded from 3080ti to 7900XT, managed to get gigabyte OC one for 600USD.
Love it, and I'm an official AMD Enjoyer now 😂
Thank you for the review. Just picked one up new for $640.
Where did you see it priced at £599. Ive looked everywhere and cant find it at that price?
Some models were £599 on Ebuyer a few weeks ago.
Cyberpunk's TAA is so bad that it looks better with upscaling even if your rendering resolution is lower than with native + TAA.
Just ordered mine! Couldn't beat the price, now that its come to a sensible threshold. Upgrading from a 6700XT!
Yeah, big upgrade from the 6700xt and even that was a good card. Have fun with it!
Another great video sir!
Thanks :)
I am still using my RX 6800XT from Power Color, solid 1440p
Btw. Great video
Why u dont show the VRAM ussage?
It is on new captures as people asked for it but tbh with a 7900XT it doesn't matter anyway, you aren't going to get close to it's limits.
$689 currently, waiting for prime day to see if it drops anymore
I bought one from Newegg for $567 tha sapphire one
Rocking an xtx but on am4. Still waiting for a bigger jump in performance on am5
xtx is awesome.
@@TechLabUK indeed. Hopefully these cards will hold their weight for a while especially if they are used on 1440p
@@laszlodajka5946 Will last a while tbh. People are still using RX 580’s and have no plans to upgrade yet.
@@TechLabUK true enough. If my 1060 was not in a laptop i would probably use it for some gaming even now

@@TechLabUK Thanks! my 6700xt was struggling in some 3440x1440p games, so I figured it was time to upgrade
seems to be AMD's case to release products at bad prices and then drop it to more sensible rate later down the road.
went with the 4070 ti super and it absolutely crushes every game ive played in 3440px1440p at ultra settings! I can even do pathtracing with it in cyberpunk with framegen!
Nice!
I run a 7900XTX and with the 7900GRE being a thing I still can't bring myself to recommend a 7900XT.
Tbh I can agree with the xtx at that point I would get the 4080 or 4080 supper
Rtx 4070 Ti fire hazard or this boy for 4k video editing with Resolve😏well...i think, choice is clear
Have you noticed this?: I noticed AMD consistently is behind NVIDIA about a year. Let me break this down. The RX 7900 XT is exactly double the speed of the Nvidia 20 Series and is about equal or a bit more than the NV flagship of the last generation 3000 Series. And the NVIDIA 4000 series Flagman is about almost double the productivity of the AMD's counterpart (and of course at the double price) This means AMD is definitely catching up but is still a generation behind. I would assume the next AMD's flagship GPU will be only a half as fast than what the NVIDIA will bring on the table in that famous cooking OVEN
I bought a hellhound version. Barely makes a sound most of the time.
Nice! Those cards do look really sweet tbf
So it's finally the price it should have been at release, but it's a good buy now????? It's almost like reviewers are trying to help AMD empty stocks as much as they can before the next release...
It's a much better buy now than it was at launch, it's still just as fast but a lot cheaper.
@@TechLabUK I get that, but the I'm talking about its value. If they had just released it at this price, it'd be a great value. But there is zero point now, they will release its replacement. No way should anyone buy this, unless their GPU dies. Even then, I'd buy some used junk just to make it till next release. Or maybe a xtx or 4080 super, since I think they will at least hold some value a bit longer. Both amd and Nvidia have been just terrible values this gen. I built a new computer and held off on a gpu, because I was not going to pay over 900 for a XTX, now that it's finally down to that, it's so close to next gen, I just can't pull the trigger on it.
@@clark8712 I agree, they have both been terrible value but if you always wait for the next generation you will never buy. The next generations are still a way off and will cost just as much if not more than the current when new so you will just be waiting for them to come down again and by that time the next generation after that will be just around the corner. A lot of people have been waiting for these to come down to these prices and they are finally getting there now.
@@TechLabUK that is my point, I wasn't waiting for next gen, I was waiting for price to come down, now it's too close to next gen. And if I pay a stupid price, may as well be for latest.
I'ma buy the rx7900gre
stil 1k+ in philippines :(
I never have AMD gpu until now i got rx 7900 gre and its amazing soo far i just hate that amd dont pushing in new games their fsr 3.0 more other than that its great

The GRE is supposed to be a good GPU too. Let us know how it goes.
@TechLabUK yea I got it for 499 on sale so I'll be waiting a little
Beautiful GPU ❤❤❤
thanks
I want one lol 🎉
It was always a sensible price against Nvidia lmfaoo like what so much faster than the 4070TI and Super.
I got the 7900 gre. 90% of the performance for a lot less in price.
I got the sapphire nitro version of the gre on sale and got within 7% of stock xt performance.
First!!! I feel like a kid again 😀
Edit: Well shit! 😞
SPEAK FASTER !!
I would just drop down to native 1440p instead of 4k with fsr quality because fsr results in a lot of shimmering on fences and vegetation etc
That's what I usually do myself tbh if native can't hit my target FPS but a lot of people will use FSR to maintain their resolution. FSR3 isn't actually that bad anymore for issues either so that's good.
Just inject XeSS instead. Even in compatibility mode it's better than current FSR. AMD can't drop the new teased FSR soon enough
