Anna, I thought I would share the words on a small panel I saw ‘I rescue fabric trapped in the quilt shop. I’m not a hoarder, I’m a hero.’ So, as a woman of a certain age I’m going shopping this week to continue my quest to become more of a hero. 😂😂😂
You are preaching to the choir about second guessing my purchases. I’m 72 and when I see something I want to make I hesitate thinking, I don’t really NEED to get into another big project. Then I think, why not, it gives me such joy to pick fabric, organize the prepping etc, etc. So, I’m getting the quilt and I’m starting it, and in the event I leave it as a UFO, my kids can worry about getting rid of it. Some lucky soul is going to wrap up in one of my originals. ❤❤
Watching your video this morning and at the end when you said, “Don’t talk yourself out of living”, I burst into tears. Obviously I was watching because I am a quilter/cross-stitcher but struggle with stress, anxiety and just being overwhelmed. I needed to hear those words more than you could ever know. Thank you! I have repeated those words in my head so many times today lol. ❤
Thank you for being you! I enjoy your quilt and cross stitch videos so much. I can identify with so many things you talk about and especially your encouragement and fun ways of getting through twists and turns of life! Best to both you and G for all you do.
Honey, when you said (with a quilt in your lap), "This is a channel about cross stitch," I had a little chuckle. Love you! Thanks for the upbeat inspiration, Anna. Have a fun trip!
I bought that book at my local quilt shop here in Bend. I have already read it to my two great granddaughters. It is so cute. Thank you for sharing all the projects you have planned.. 🧵🪡🧵😊 Dona in Bend
Anna I agree totally with so many of the comments both your channels are so encouraging and validating! Thank you so much for your sharing of yourself I feel you help so many of us. Carole M. ☺️❤️❤️
Always such a pleasure to visit with you. So much of what you said resonated with me. You look beautiful in the pink shirt. I look forward to your videos of the quilt shops you go to on your trip. Have so much fun 🥰
I love your attitude about your life. Kind of like mine. I’m 78 and a great grandmother of two. However I long ago took up my grandmother’s mantra and have decided I am middle-aged, not old!
It was so nice to have a visit from you. I always get lifted up a bit and get confirmation that I can quilt and do crafts as much a I want. I have looked at the little ghost book; so much fun! Thanks and have a good time with your travels.
Always enjoy your pep talks! Beautiful quilts, and stories. Needed that inspiration to get back packs finished for grands. Wishing this quilt I’m hemming was finished so I can go work on back packs. That cancer quilt is awesome with those beautiful pinks. So happy you get use your straw!
Anna, I love your new out look on life. Bummer that Audrey missed the stitching day. Have a great time visiting Colleen. Please share pictures of your adventures. I'd love to be a fly in the car, but I would be afraid that I'd be laughing too hard😂😂😂 Safe travels.
Thanks for stopping by Anna. So happy you had your stitches out and now can use a straw again. I need to add that cute book to my library. Glad that you showed it. I always thought it was a much smaller book in size. That surprised me. Take care. See you next time.
I so enjoy your videos. Both cross stitch and quilting. But I really like your advice on life. I tell my self that it is a blessing that I am still able to do dishes, housework, and laundry! It's a daily challenge!!!!!
I bought the little ghost book to give as a gift with quilt I was making and fell in love with the book! I ended up keeping the book, made small hand puppet like ghost quilts for my great grandchildren and read them the book every now and then as they play with their hand puppet ghosts! The pattern for hand puppets came from Julie Cefalu, she teaches at The Granary Quilt Shop here in California. Love the book and puppets!! Love your closing beach video….i too moved after 45 years in Bay Area to very quiet town in Central Valley, Ca. Miss the beach!! Blessings, Dawn
I love the mega binding rolls! When I pick out binding fabric at the store the ladies will measure the quilt and then say “you’ll need a third of a yard”. Great, I’ll take 3 yards!
Hi love that book too got it last year to read at Christmas to great grandchildren they get so in to it made all of them a little quilt of there own they were going to take it for show an till at school made me happy trying to find a book for this Christmas to read love from Indiana it is in the 70s cool morning here
I just had some sweet girl read me the ghost quilt story on tube. A wonderful story. I think I will get a copy and place it in the package of the quilt I am making for my granddaughter. Thanks Anna.
I am always planning my next quilt or project. I’m really, really trying to use my huge stash, but, if the opportunity arises and I end up in a quilt shop by mistake , then I might take advantage of the situation. 😂 I guess I’m just trying to be a hero too, and rescue fabric trapped inside. Your quilts are always beautiful and I love the wool kit from Primitive Gatherings. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Thank you for your awesome tip. Why should we stop living. I love your awesome book to gift with a child's quilt. There are two other children's books I have about quilts. The Quilt Makers Gift and also The Tamale Quilt. I think you would love both. They even include the quilt patterns in them. ❤ Also loved the comment on not having worry about what happens to your quilts. 😊
Such fun projects!!! Oh, that little Quilty Ghost book is too cute! I added to my cart for sure! Have a blast on your road trip with the girls LOL. I foresee much laughter and many good times! I'm worried Colleen has no idea what is about to descend upon her LOL. Poor Audrey is worried she will be infected by the quilting bug. Your gift for Robin is precious!!! Cannot wait to see that one all put together. I literally laughed out loud about the possible need to take a Valium before watching. No valium required my dear as YOU are my valium. I instantly smile, calm down, and laugh out loud when I watch your videos. Finally, my husband will tell you that no one can talk me out of living. He says I'm a 60 year old who is living like I'm 20. That's right! You could croak off tomorrow. I'm living for now. I talked about buying a tiny camper when I retire so I can zoom around to retreats and have fun. I think his head exploded and I'm quite sure his eyeballs almost popped out of his head. I laughed so hard I almost choked on my coffee. He knows I change my mind like I change underwear so, I just keep on living (smile). See you soon!!! I'll send you my flight itinerary soon, but Delta has changed it twice! Hugs from NE Ohio.
I always love to see a new video from you. It's like baum for my sole. You are like having a dear friend for a coffee/or whatever klatch. Shows my age. LOL. Love to see your many projects in wishing or in progress. Anyways enjoy your time with your friends and see you soon.
With the Ghost quilt book, you just got yourself another project. You must make a patching quilt to go with the book. Yep, that’s what I did. Sew fun to set out together.
Do you know of Mark Durrell(?) the Quilting Marine? He came to quilting ~ 6 years ago when he first grandchild was born. He is a Marine Corps vet with PTSD and he fell in love with quilting when he found it helped his PTSD. He is lovely and kept challenging himself and he fell in love with the paper piecing, and his all time fave quilt to make is the New York Beauty. I am including the link to his video 'cause he will spur you on!!! he had a chat with Brenda of Just get it done quilts, here's the link and go to time stamp 22:56 to see his NY Beauty. ruclips.net/video/4tta7ZifntI/видео.html He also has tutorials about it fyi. No doubt you already know about Mark, and if you do, that's great. I love his energy and compassion for other vets!!!
Love that you bought the little ghost book. I bought 2, one for me and one for my great granddaughter. And then I made her a ghost quit. Turned out adorable and I gave her the quilt and book at the same time. I also got my stitches out today. I had a molar extraction and bone graft in preparation for an implant. Have fun on your girls trip!!
Hi Anna! Watching you again at 4 in the morning. I can empathize with the lack of straw - I just had an extraction and found out I’m expected to wait 5 whole days for coffee! 😢 Wave to the jets for me! I just love your videos- it’s good to visit with you. You do have a lot of projects going on! It’s awesome & ok - I will feel uncomfortable & get back to quilting that started red & white quilt! I want to do a scalloped border on it & that is definitely out of my comfort zone!! Looking forward to your next video!
Hi the little ghost book, a ton of quilters r making a patchwork quilt with eyes and nose like rhe book, as a kids gift, quilt and the book. The author is from east coast of Canada, New Brunswick, I am not far from there. If u did some searches u would find many examples, her book took off when quilters starting buying it and making quilts to gift with the book. Enjoy!
I have found that making quilts are for me. I am making placemats for all my grandchildren. So they will have something to remember me by. If we stop buying fabric we will lose are passion. Debbie Triggs
I had a giggle when you were talking about quilts and said "this is a channel about cross stitch". On Quilt Roadies. LOL The FQS pattern does look interesting. I need to make 2 OUT of HIGHSCHOOL quilts for 2 of my grandsons. Thank you for the thoughts
Anna!!!! Everything you show I want😂! I'm going to stop watching. YEAH RIGHT ❤! I Love the blue fabric. Oh and the wool kit. Yes make another video, just because I'm going to figure the wool out eventually. You make it look so inviting and easy! Glad you got your stitches out. And, so nice of you to do the BC quilt. I just beat BC this past year💞! Have a great week!
Morning here in windy cold South Africa. I have to say you brighten my early morning wiith your visit. I sigh need to get back to a bit of quilting. Been resting my fingers for a while. I strained the muscles in all my fingers by pulling a pillow around under someone who is in a wheelchair and had to pull hard. So of course l just overdid it and had to rest them. Luckily they are better by doing light tasks. Anyway that put my quilting on hold. I did however get all my DMC threads all neat in their drawers after the move. Now it feels as if a huge rock has been lifted of my shoulders. Also got my sewing machine serviced and she is back. It felt like l was lost for 3 weeks without her even though I don't use her much. Anyway have fun with all the stitching mischievous musketeers. Huge hugs❤
Oh Annie Im so glad I watched your video. I've lost a couple of people recently and I've been thinking a lot about age. I've been thinking should I start this or that project. I too have so much stash and WIPS already. But then my husband reminded me of the song by Toby Keith, 'Don't Let The Old Man In'. Have you heard it? He wrote the song for 'The Mule" a Clint Eastwood movie. It's a great song and rings so true. Love all your videos. Your charm, humor and honesty are hard to resist. Your projects are beautiful Thank you for sharing. xo
Oh that book! I must have that.. Next to a fabric store Barnes and Noble is my favorite place. Love the sail boat quilt and the wool fabric is gorgeous. I’m itching to start a new quilt. I see one in my near future. 😂 thanks for the great visit. ❤
You are the sunshine in my day. Thanks for all the quilting thoughts and plans. Your discussion of real life adjustments. I am inspired to work embroidery panels for my next quilt after my Hawaiian fish applique not sure how to sash or quilt it appreciat input!
Well, I know you ladies will have a great road trip up to Coleen's. I can only imagine the craziness! I'm with Robin as far as getting away from a growing community/town and seeking peace in a quieter environment. The strength of your friendship will always remain. Have a safe journey! XO Jenny
I have run out of people to give quilts to so I donate them to shelters. They need adult and kid quilts. Also Catholic Charities and thrift shops, care facilities, etc. that help people.
It is all about your attitude. Going up and down the stairs will keep you young and your legs looking great. I said Monday that I do not need to purchase any more fabric. It’s Tuesday and I just bought some of the new Tula Pink fabric. lol I made it less than 24 hours.
Edyta Sitar wrote a children's book about quilts too called, "Rainbow Nest: A Story to Read, a Quilt to Make." It comes with a pattern to make the quilt in the book.
About all the quilts we leave behind, there is this. I have a friend that does not drink, gamble or have any compulsive disorders. Her children are questioning what they are going to do with all the quilts that she is going to leave behind. The son says because you don’t do any of the above, that is your right mother. go on and Quilt! In response to the other two daughters, my friend says to leave them at the end of the church pew during her funeral. Anyone that wants one can take one. The funny thing about that now is that the children are now judging her quilts by, are they front row, quilts, or back row quilts!😂😂😂😂😂😂
Just curious..in this forever home of yours, do you have a bedroom and full bathroom on the main floor? I speak from experience. As we age we can’t do stairs like we used to. And I’m actually only 53! Also I just broke my foot and had to have surgery eight weeks ago and I am forever grateful that I live in a one story! If I had stairs I would have had to go live with family for weeks! Just something important to think about.
My Buddy back in June into July had Lost 16 LBS from her Dental surgery 2 teeth pulled & stitches next when ever needs reconstruction in her jaw bone deteriorating brother of hers had this issue so runs in the family get that jaw built & then two fake 🦷🦷 .l had to hear about it every time we spoke met showed me . Her weight loss looks good yet she loves to eat snack more sugar 😉😁l for 🪥😁 cleaning on tooth last if silver filling since 2 junes ago pain now on off. l had X-rays no infection or cavity dying never or reseeding gums l have . swoosh with 🫒 oil help with tea stains & the pain of 🦷 15 miyin morning Shade lighter 😁 Looks like you're not slowing down anytime soon with the creative energy quilts stitch works send some energy my way l can use it 🗽🇺🇲🦅 Epic Soar sew 🪡 🧵 📍 ✂️ 04✝️ 🗽🇺🇲🦅🕊️🫶🐦🐛🌱🦋🪻 The Force 🖖 continues with you & your's 😉 like the show & few quilts & who needs a reason to quilt to you go colour blind😎
Not to send you down a rabbit hole, but there is a quilt pattern that goes along with the ghost book. One of the owners of the Sew Sweet quilt shop in Brunswick, Mo made it and showed on their RUclips channel a couple of months ago.
Ok you need a rest...you said at around 10:18 that this was a channel about cross stitch.....lol😂😂😂😂😂had to listen to it twice, just to make sure I hadn't left the planet....😂😂😂😂I love all your quilting!
I heard that too !!! 😛😛😛 It’s funny cause I watch both of your channels 🥰🥰🥰 Love it all. Keep inspiring us as we give ourselves permission to do what we must to be joyful. 😃🤣
A good book that you might want to read that goes along with your mantra: "Don't talk yourself out of living is I Will Not Die an Unlived Life. BTW.............I love that you said that this is a channel about cross stitch...........lol lol lol............someone else whose mind is dealing with a full plate............hehehehehehehe Check out the book.......Blessings to you and G. P.S. Enjoy watching all of your videos here and on Stitch Roadies.
Question - I bought an embroidery kit for a table runner that has the embroidery design around all four sides and not in the middle of the runner. I know you always use SF-101 to back your embroidery pieces, but I am wondering if I should just put the SF-101 on the outside edges where the designs are or just put SF-101 on the whole back. It seems wasteful to put it all over the whole back when only the edges will be embroidered, but I wonder if it will look funny if it is thicker on the sides than in the middle. I do plan to back the runner with a pretty fabric when all done. Do you have any thoughts or tips for me? Should I do anything differently?
I know it is a waste but I would be inclined to put it on the whole back or at least add a second layer to the center but because I am lazy I would just do the whole back🤔😂❤️

Oh...I made the Little Ghost quilt. I gave it to my youngest grandchild with the book. He loves it!

Thanks for the laughs. Your perspective is like a ‘Valium’ in this crazy time.
Thank you ..I needed these wise encouraging words Anna…😢

Love your videos! I feel like you are talking just to me.😊
Some friends and I were talking about time going by so fast and we have concluded that time doesn't go by fast...we just go a lot slower as we age.
I have run out of people to give quilts to so I donate them to shelters. They need adult and kid quilts. Also Catholic Charities and thrift shops, care facilities, etc. that help people.

Thank you for sharing. Happy quitting.

Anna you look gorgeous in pink! Love your videos.
Love foundation paper piecing. Wish I lived where I could help you out.
Not to send you down a rabbit hole, but there is a quilt pattern that goes along with the ghost book. One of the owners of the Sew Sweet quilt shop in Brunswick, Mo made it and showed on their RUclips channel a couple of months ago.
Hi Anna, can you do a step by step of the corners on your binding? Please?
Ok you need a rest...you said at around 10:18 that this was a channel about cross stitch.....lol😂😂😂😂😂had to listen to it twice, just to make sure I hadn't left the planet....😂😂😂😂I love all your quilting!
I heard that too !!! 😛😛😛
It’s funny cause I watch both of your channels 🥰🥰🥰
Love it all. Keep inspiring us as we give ourselves permission to do what we must to be joyful. 😃🤣
So did I! Had to glance at the Quilt Roadies title to make sure I was in the right place! I watch both channels, just wanted to make sure where I was.
I know it is a waste but I would be inclined to put it on the whole back or at least add a second layer to the center but because I am lazy I would just do the whole back🤔😂❤️
Years ago I had a Mary Englebrite Chair of Bowlies cookie jar that I loved but someone in my home broke it. 😠
I love that quilt! And I love that backing fabric too. Do you make bias binding? Or do you just cut strips on the grain?
Please do show your wool work process ❤
Will do soon
I’ve not heard of the water pen either
I love you...this is a channel about cross stitch....are your personalities merging?
Annie, do you make twin size or XL twin for dorm quilts
More like a full or a twin with extra 🤔
Please share the name of the heart quilt you were binding. Loved it and might make as a graduation quilt for my granddaughter.
