I'm so glad to hear you watch Kate at the last homely house. I love watching you both. Maybe we can sit next to each other sometime on the lime green sofa. Lol😂
When my father passed away, I asked for all his plaid work shirts. I knew they would be quilts one day but had to pack them away until my emotions let me know it was time. Still, they sat stacked on my dresser until finally, they “told” me what they wanted to be. Pre-Pinterest days and at an odd chunk of time in my life, they became 5 quilts for my Mom and siblings. It does take lots of time and heart! Hope you are able to share what eventually spoke to you.😊 Memory projects really do give more than they take in many ways!
Praying for ingenuity and memories shared to guide your journey into some bigs and littles to follow this young man’s wake. What an awesome request of you Anna! Kathi 😊
Trick or treaters didn’t start until almost 6:00 PM in my neighborhood, usually they start arriving between 4:00 and 4:30. We had a beautiful evening but late start. Your wool quilt is beautiful. I fuse my wool pieces in place, it’s so much easier to stitch than having to stitch with pins getting in the way. I’ve done 2 memory quilts from T-shirts. It’s so nice to think that something I’ve made has turned into a treasure. I find foundation paper piecing challenging. I love the results but the process takes me a while. Take care! 🌻
Love the wool quilt! Grandpa worked on the railroad, & also at a dry cleaner. When it came time to toss unclaimed items, he cut all of the buttons off & saved them. I own a jar of Grandpa's buttons, its a treasure, for sure. Marilyn
As always I enjoyed the visit! My first laugh came when you told us to follow the instructions on fusing! Who does that🤣Then I am happy to hear I am not the only one who has to watch, stop, rewind and watch again! Over and over again🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Thank you for the visit Anna. I don’t do a lot of FPP but I do enjoy it…and always have to refer back to Kimberly’s videos. Your FPP block turned out great! Such beautiful fabrics. Take care. See you next time.
Your first block of paper piecing came out beautifully. I have done a little of that and always have to watch the video or re-read the instructions. I love the fabric being used on the quilt. As always, enjoyed the visit.
I was surprised about the hexies. I remember a quilt you started (I believe a quilt along) that you put away that was all hexies. While you are makinghexies why not make them specifically for that quilt. A great way to finish a other project.
If you feel you want the roller for the quilt seams you can get one at Home Depot or Lowe’s in the paint department which is a wallpaper seam roller. They work great.
Thanks for a wonder visit. I have been trying the hexies made from circles. Loving it. No Glue and only a tiny bit of thread so you can make many without rethreading. Fun Stuff.
Thanks for the visit. We have had rain for 2 days now and snow on the high mountains inland. Seems summer will be with us in December. I am only concentrating on 4 seasons only. We don't do halloween in South Africa. But l use pumkins and cats for autumn. Still have a nice winter wallhanging to do! That's in June, July and August. Love the way you describe your brain function 😂😂😂 Huge hugs ❤
Anna, use a spikey tracing wheel along all the sew lines on a lined up stack of pattern FPP templates (makes folding and ripping out papers effortless and no water pen mess.) I Al use a cheap set of colored pencils (12 pack) and color where different fabrics go on a multicolored pattern, or on areas of main fabric, leaving BG- background areas blank. Hinge a note card, or card stock, or political flyer cut down to size and painters tape it to the Add-a-quarter ruler to make fast work of folding and trimming. So many cool tips for FPP. Have fun.
I totally understand the directional blank that goes along with foundation paper piecing. It baffles me every time, every block. I have to watch the RUclips videos over and over again. Perseverance!!
Hi Anna, Well done on your foundation paper piecing, looks good eh? You could leave your papers in until your grandchildren visit and they could help take them out. They might get bored after a while but every little helps. Can I also say I love the ending of your videos with the small ripples on the beach. I can imagine myself walking along there. It’s one of my very favourite things to do, so calming. Thanks. Ros 🇦🇺
Hello Anna, I was listening with you whilst sewing up a Christmas quilt. I was sorry to hear about your family loss, too young to say goodbye and I understand about fabrics calling to you. The quilt will be a comfort. I lost a quilty friend recently, I met her on my trip to Sisters in 2017. I will miss her as we kept in touch. Take care 🇬🇧❤️
Just stopped on You Tube to have a quick look and saw your video, so happy to see you and hear your stories, today seems to be a day to gain inspiration from people like you.
I enjoy using Magic Seam Wand for creasing seams, and I use the rounded part with gentle pressure. I use the pointer edge like a stiletto. Enjoy your FPP journey!!❤
Anna did a great review video about the new fusible she’s using a while ago. It’s called flexi fuse. I bought a roll of it from Amazon. I also found it similar to soft fuse.😊
Your wool quilt looks lovely! My photo was in a Quilt folk magazine years ago. I was at a quilt quild meeting that Mary Fons visited. Fall Guy movie sounds like it is based on my son's favorite TV show by the same title in the 80s. (Your son is the same age as my son, from what you mentioned before). I saw the movie called The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
Nice to see you tonight. It made me laugh when you talked about how you follow along with the computer; stop, stop, watch again and so on. I do exactly the same thing and thought I was probably the only on who has to learn that way. Thanks for sharing your journey. Have a great day!
I made my first wool flannel scrappy piece was a pumpkin, with Sue Spargo stitches and pennies on it. Was so fun. Turned out great. “Dances with Fire” by Kate Hamberger just released book, I started and hard to put down read about life on a Hot Shot team. And college life so far. A true story. I know you are always expanding your brain. Enjoy fall!
Tip #2- you tube video for hinging a fold over card to your Add-a-quarter ruler and a great tutorial for FPP is titled “The BEST Foundation Paper Piecing Tutorial” such a time saver and sanity saver. I taped mine wrong the first try, what I found is if I place my card stock in a fold, fold back my paper pattern, place ruler to trim, then place tape on at that time. Gets it in perfect position the first time. Learn from my mistake. Such a wonderful aid tool for FPP! Perforate with a spikey sewing tracing wheel along the paper fold lines. I do a well lined up stack on a wool ironing mat freehand. It was fast to do while I watched TV. Ready to sew the next morning!
Anna, I get you, I have the same blank spot, I also can be become seriously angled challenged especially when anyway tired. I have had my husband down on the floor laying out a quilt! And I come from a family of engineers!
Lovely visit Anna!! Wowza, are definitely one busy lady LOL. Love your projects! Those memory pillows from that jacket are going to be fabulous!! I'm so excited to see what is offered at Quilter's Affair next year. There is a true possibility that I may be able to come! I'm excited to see the 50th Quilt Show. Quite a milestone! Love you friend! Hugs from NE Ohio.
I was so happy to hear your hexie story. I have been making hexies for some time now and started sewing some together but I have no idea where I'm going with it. I had a dream of making a hexie quilt like Kate on Last Homely House but I'm not sure I have the kind of color sense that may be needed for that. 😐 I've hundreds of hexies at this point so I'll have to formulate a plan!
When I was taking college chemistry, I would get so far, and then it would be like the electric current could bridge a gap in my brain. I tried! I think the instructor only passed me because I tried so hard but just could not do it. This gap turns up in other situations, too, and I have to watch and re-watch, or go very slowly. Nice to have company! Love the wool piece you are working on. Okay, so what size hexies do you work with and what size is that box? Great idea! And I thank you for being both a Quilt Roadie and a Stitch Roadie, Anna.
I have made a few quilts from special person's clothing. I know what you mean about needing the fabrics to talk to you. I like to say that the project needs to 'percolate' in my brain. Thanks for the stitching and stories.
Good evening, I enjoyed your video, as always. Did you happen to remember the name of the replacement product for Soft Fuse? I think you mentioned you were going to put it in the drop down but I’m not finding it. Thanks for keeping us up to date!
I have come to the conclusion that you are my parallel sister as I craft exactly the same things as you do, the reading, jigsaws, tv etc 😊. Hugs from across the seas x chrisi
Hi Anna, you may want to try the fold method using a ¼” ruler. Many find it easier and you can reuse papers. There are many videos. It’s fun to learn new things…frustration and all❤
Anna while listening to you, explain about the quilt pattern that does foundation paper piecing, you mentioned about that you hadn’t done English paper piecing in 15 years. It was funny because I had just sent you an email asking you about video you did where you showed how you use starch to attach your fabric to the papers for English paper piercing. I believe it was only a few years ago that you showed this. Maybe longer you know with Covid time is just all messed up. Anyway, I do English paper, piecing, and the group I belong to was asking, about other ways to attach the papers and you showed doing it with starch. I believe you were in your van. Also, as for the roller, I have a small roller that used instead of a big rolling pin for different baking and I use that. I think sometimes there are other ways to do things that doesn’t require buying objects that are supposedly only for quilting or sewing, etc.
Thank you for sharing about FPP. I had to do the same exact thing. Watch Kimberly’s video do that part then watch the next part and so on. I haven’t tried the one you showed. I did the kite one. It is definitely a challenge but like you said the blocks come out great.
Hi Anna, I am also making the Woven Heart for Breast Cancer by Fat Quarter Shop. I got tired making the woven hearts so decided to make mine smaller. I am at the point where I am sewing them together. I did not press my seams open and they are not nesting making it very thick where they join. I don’t know if you can press all the seams open or if I made a mistake pressing. I just wanted to let you know so if you can figure out how to correct my mistake. It’s a lovely quilt.
I did not know you were a fan of Survivor, like me! This is an exciting season. I like your pumpkin project. I’m struggling with my eyes and found that working with a black background is now probably too hard for me. I’m going to have to go to light backgrounds I guess. I’ll check out the wool at Pioneer Quilts since I’m over in Hillsboro. I’ve been there of course but now I’m getting into wool more so time to go back. I’d like to meet you there if I can go on a day you are sewing there. That would be fun.
Hi from cold rainy Wisconsin Anna …you always know what to say to get me motivated ☺️ love the wool quilt you’re stitching on and the Hexi box Good plan..I wish you could come get me restarted cross stitching I’ve forgotten how 😢
Just an idea. I believe you have an accuquilt. They have a die cut for Hexi papers and hexis. I know the dies are not cheap, but I got mine on one of their sales and when doing the math, it is cheaper. Every once in a while I go crazy and cut away. I bought a ream of card stock and went to town and cut tons of hexi cards..... The only complaint I have with that die is they should have made the "fabric" cut die a bit bigger, though using a glue stick it works....sewing them can be challenging. Even if I only used it for my card hexi, it seems worth it. When I gather enough fabric scraps I have a cutting day. Then I have a box with fabric hexis and cardstock hexis and I will have a prep day and do a bunch. So I also have a box with prepped hexis. After that, I make up sets for flowers and clip them together with the center one on top. I have a little makeup size pouch I grab or leave in my car that has hexis clipped together ready to sew, In the pouch is a pair of scissors, hexis set for flowers attached with clips, thread and needles. I find them great to work on when I have to wait somewhere. I reload the pouch as I start getting low of sets. It is so quick to grab the pouch depending what I am doing. Look forward to see what you do with that memorial quilt. Sorry for the loss in your family. Have a great week.
Anna: you are always giving recommendations for books, and I just finished one that REALLY hit a chord in me. I don't think it was one of your recommendations, but if it is, I apologize. "So Long, Chester Wheeler" is the book. It was fantqstic!
The pumpkin and star quilt you were working on in this video is so beautiful! What is the name of the pattern, and what size Valdani thread do you use to stitch it down? Thank you.

I love Kim Diel too, I needed help with it also. She's talented.
Great effort with your foundation stars. Its going to be lovely.

Would you be interested in doing Bonnie Sullivans butter mold pattern?
A rough ride tonight, but so glad I came along for the ride🙄🥴
I love Valdani thread too … 12 wt is my fave. :). Tho with a chenille I’ll deal with the chunkier 8 in the right spots!
Anna: you are always giving recommendations for books, and I just finished one that REALLY hit a chord in me. I don't think it was one of your recommendations, but if it is, I apologize. "So Long, Chester Wheeler" is the book. It was fantqstic!
I 💕💕💕❣️❣️❣️ your woven star!!!! Leave the paper on until the pattern says to remove it. :)
What is the name of the product you use for fusing now that Soft Fuse is no longer being made?
The pumpkin and star quilt you were working on in this video is so beautiful! What is the name of the pattern, and what size Valdani thread do you use to stitch it down? Thank you.
What is the type of fusible you use now?

I love your old videos
Anna, do you have fans running in the beehive? I hear these sounds in all your videos and I'm wondering what the noises are.
I want to be Kate too, Anna! ❤
Hi Anna! Love your videos. 😂 I thought I'd let you know, for some reason I don't get notifications of your posts. 😢 Not for either channel. I've unsubscribed and resubscribed - no luck. I still catch your videos but not as soon as you post. Anyway, just FYI. 😊❤
Anna, what batting did you use in that wool quilt? I like autumn quilting too.
I didn’t see the name of the fusible you used on the wool. Can you tell us again please?
Anna did a product review video about Flexifuse several months ago. - maybe February 2024? I think the video was called Isolating in the Bee Hive and a product review. I ordered a roll of Flexifuse from Amazon after watching the video and I have found it to be a good substitute for Soft Fuse too.
We're having storms on oklahoma. Bit it could be worse
Anna I thought you were making hexies a few years ago with small motifs in the center, did you make something with those?
Anna what's the name of the quilt pattern on the wall behind you thankyou
whqts the name of the quilt on the wall behind you, its gorgeous
Is there any company that has felt pieces precut. Like pumpkins, leaves etc. I don’t like cutting the pieces..
Also do you know you can slow down and speed up You Tube videos? So helpful.
I 💕💕💕❣️❣️❣️ your woven star!!!! Leave the paper on until the pattern says to remove it. :)
