    Sorry... the Lakers DID NOT dodge a bullet for not signing Schröder. Because he didnt, they traded for Westbrook. So they took a Cannonball, in the chest because they couldnt resign him! This trade never happens with Schröder on a long term deal. So the Lakers wouldbe traded for Hield. The team wouldve been WAY better with Schröder (while overpayed), Kuzma (would not have been traded) and Hield instead of Westbrook and... noone!
    And he wasnt horrendous in Boston. They just knew he would be a trade chip to start the season. Cause they couldnt resign him anyways. So they waited, looked what was needed and traded him when they found the right piece. Schröder wasnt great... but also not worse then White, who they replaced him with!

    • @coaller1
      @coaller1 2 года назад

      you right, everyone know westbrook cant play along lebron and ad, if schroeder cant how come a primary ball handler like westbrook can.
      lakers definitely nt dodge a bullet, they getting even worse, trading overpaid schroeder will be less challenge than trading westbrook, because schroeder still able to play in a system whether better or worse, but westbrook must be the guy that u build around, he was the primary ball handler the wizard need so beal can concentrate on shooting rather than need separate his energy on playmarking, and which is work out.
      and even though lakers overpaid schroeder, lakers can still remain caruso, THT, kuzma (maybe trade him for Hield, but still better suit than westbrook), and even KCP, but for most ppl schroeder lost that big deal is a dodge a bullet for the team, for me it is lost lost for both side, last season i even saw the news say lakers want to sign back schroeder if he was waived by rocket, but rocket dont want to, so we can see the lakers self becoming a joke too.
      schroeder might not good, but nt bad if he can play on bench, it just the nba team now have a lot of new young talents, and many contender team wasnt in need of a backup PG, which make no team sign him for now, wait until half season maybe there will be team that consider him when injuries or trade happen.

      @@BabylonGateLA So did Brunson in 2021... not so much this year, dont you think? And once again... in a vakuum Wetbrook is clearly better. But is he better then Schröder+Kuzma+Hield ... cause ALL THREE would be on the Lakers right now if Schröder had signe the extension...

    It's a false narrative that Dennis Schroder was looking for a better contract than the Lakers offer; he wanted to play for a team where he could start. After spending 2 years being Westbrook's backup, he didn't wanna go backwards in his career. Reggie Jackson had the same ambitions. While I agree the Hornets dodged a bullet by Kemba rejecting their contract offer and instead go to the Celtics, I wouldn't call the Hornets rebuilding a "success". They signed Gordon Hayward to an even worse contract for 4 years 120 million, when Hayward, who has basically been injured 50% of the time since they signed him. Oh and also they are in exactly in the same spot as before, too good to tank but not good enough to make noise in the playoffs. I'll say getting rid of Kemba was good for them because they were able to get Lamelo, but I definitely wouldn't say their rebuild has been a success, especially given Miles Bridges recent domestic violence charges.

    Cubes tried to sign Kemba to that 30 mil a year contract but he chose boston over his team.
    Cubes is mentioned here for Dandre Jordan and Nerlens Noel, But they also got lucky that Cubes was once again rejected by Lowly Lowry for 30 mil a year but he chose miami instead.
    All 4 of which could have easily made a top 5 mistakes by a Team/Owner.
    But Cubes did have Dennis Rodman move in with him and told his GM to let him make the decision on when and if he lets him select Gianiss with a mid first round pick(because he was trying to get a way overrated Center from Orlando a few hundred thousand more dollars with his free agent offer by trading down in the draft and then letting his GM pick Gianiss with the 19th pick.which we know he didn't last that long and that Dwight Howard didn't sign with him anyway. We also know that Cubes was enamored by Dwight Howard being the Defensive Player of the Year for 3 years, So much so that he broke up the only Championship team the Mavericks had ever had to pursue him.
    You want to know how badly he spiked the Punch Bowl, He broke up the Championship team and didn't draft Gianiss because he wanted the DPOTY, Which not only didn't sign but during this process they lost their Center Tyson Chandler to the Knicks, Who went on that year to be the..................DPOTY.
    Dude is actually worse than Jerry Jones and Dallas has them both.

    Don't forget about Isiah Thomas's contract negotiation with the Boston Celtics. He wanted a max contract worth over $200 mil from the Celtics after he avg 28.6 pts per game. Instead, the Celtics let him played out the last year of his contract that was only worth $6mil. Of course he got injured in the playoff that year and got traded in the following offseason to Cleveland for Kyrie Irving. The Celtics really dodged a bullet when they didn't extend Thomas's contract or even entertained by considering giving him a max contract. It would really be a catastrophe.

    Eventually the Mavs ended getting DeAndre Jordan in 2018 but traded him within the season to NYK (as part of the Porzingis trade) and bounced with many teams after and now, he won a ring with the Nuggets before the Clippers, Blake Griffin and Chris Paul. Also the contract they give to Kyrie this free agency and his performance with the Mavs (not including his off court issues) should be one thing to watch out this season.
    In Dennis case, at least he got a chance to redeem himself by returning to the Lakers a season after he left and though he's not consistent, some of his best games contributed to the Lakers' turnaround. (and as of this moment, he signed with the Raptors)
    Also Victor Oladipo is back with OKC, the second team he played for before and now if could bounce back from his slump, that remains to be seen.
