1998 nba draft will always stood as one of the greatest 90s draft ever along with 1995-1997 draft. But sadly, people will mostly remember this era because they had so many players with so little fulfillment of expectations, and technically, just an era where people are going to give everyone a chance to get into the nba (technically, this is the draft with most players successfully made it to the league in 2 round format). In 1999 Spurs drafted # 57 Manu Ginobili in the draft. And look what he did with Tim Duncan and Tony Parker who was drafted # 28 in 1998. 5 championship Sometimes those draft numbers can be misleading.
The 1998 draft class was weird. Im not sure if there were very many decent scouting departments at that time. Mike Bibby was a beast for a few seasons. He always came to play against my Lakers. Antoine Jamison was a very efficient scorer. Jayson Williams"The white choclate" was a flashy passer who brought fans to the game. His passes were comparable to Magic's. Both Vince Carter and Dirk were superstars as well as all-time greats. The shocker was Vince Carter not going in the top 3. Vince Carter was a showtimevdunker in an era that was all about the in your face highlight dunk. He was copying all the dunks from all the greatest dunkers when he was a teenager. He was creating his own dunks that are still hard to copy by the time he got drafted. Paul Pierce was a warrior during his time with the Celtics. It always hurt as a lifelong Lakers fan to watch Pierce who is a LA native and a lifelong Lakers fan play for Boston and become one of the best in his position to do so.
Was actually a pretty good draft class, but the scouts at the top end of the lottery got it completely wrong! Would be interesting to see players like LaFrentz, Miller, and especially Lewis playing now.
I played with the Classic Mavs team in 2k, that had Lafrentz at center, along with Dirk, Nash, and two other three point shooters. It felt like future basketball, running 5 out, pick and pops all game. Not much defense though. :D
I say this is the best draft ever! Simply because I'm a big BIG Dirk fan. Without the bucks going blank with trade, Dirk would have returned to the Euro League and we will might not see a center shooting 3s
Anybody know where I could find a video about Lebron and the Cavs before he went to Miami? I'm kinda new to this NBA stuff so thanks if anyone would comment on this. Would be nice if Andy has a video about this!

Mike Bibby was one of my favorite players as a kid. That Kings team came so close. I still think they got screwed out of a championship against the lakers.
When us NBA fans were watching highlight shows it was all Carter and Williams. And then we would go on the court trying imitate whatever wizardry White Chocolate had done the nights before.

If 76ers drafted Paul Pierce or Dirk Nowitzki
AI+PP or AI+Dirk would've been a dynamic duo
Anyone else surprised Andy is doing a video on a Tuesday ? Cause I was expecting a video Wednesday
Real smooth, Andy. "He died in 2011 of a heart attack at just 34....... Anyway!! Jason Williams was picked next"
In 1999 Spurs drafted # 57 Manu Ginobili in the draft.
And look what he did with Tim Duncan and Tony Parker who was drafted # 28 in 1998.
5 championship
Sometimes those draft numbers can be misleading.
Mike bibby was really decent tho especially in those Sacramento Kings and Atlanta Hawks days honestly but yeah he did get traded a lot
I think he had good years with grizzlies.
That 3rd pick played in the wrong era. I do recall that he also had a 7/7 from 3 points record similar to what JV accomplished recently
Cory Brewer was definitely not apart of that draft 🤦🏽♂️ he won two college basketball national championships in 06 and 07 With Al Horford and Noah
The Corey Brewer shown is incorrect but there was a corey brewer
Probably a another one
Nesterovic was great in nba live
He wasn't duncan but still could carry your team if he had an injury
Bro this class was deep
Anybody know where I could find a video about Lebron and the Cavs before he went to Miami? I always hear that it was not a good team (or a mediocre one) but I wanna see a breakdown vid or something like that on how good was that team. I'm kinda new to this NBA stuff so thanks if anyone would comment on this. Would be nice if Andy has a video about this!
I don’t think the years in 2003~2009 cavs were mediocre. It was just lebron getting the team most of the time haha😂
Watch sb nation they made it.
Someone just did one I forget who it is . Maybe jimmy higheoller
*carrying
Thanks for the replies guys! Will check those channels later!
This is a certified hood classic
if lafrentz was drafted to this day he might be useful for some teams that supports a stretch big.
Go back to 98. If you told people the best player of this draft would be the skinny kid from west Germany you would’ve been laughed out of the building
LaFrentz was actually pretty solid, and later after the Mavs traded him, their defense TANKED.
Quick lil thing: the lottery picks were the first 13 picks at this time. It didn't become 14 picks until 2004 when the Bobcats were added.
Shid draft class of 96 gotta be a one of thee best 👌🏾
Corey brewer wasn't apart of the 98 class he was apart of the 2007 class..
I thought i was the only one who noticed
My guess was that it was an error
I thought legit I was the only one who noticed
6:37 there's a ton of things from the 90s that will forever be timeless and iconic: pokemon, Tupac and Biggie, Playstation, pulp fiction, Mj etc... but that backstreet boy haircut Dirk had ain't one of them
Or Steve Nash's blonde hair.
This was a solid class
Mike bibby and brad miller, they are my favs during kings days
It's a hard era for Dirk.His opponents are competitive.Tim Duncan,Yao Ming,Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O Neal,Iverson and Many many more
Died of a heart attack
Andy “anyways”
Did Andy said Corey Brewer ? Uhh yeah that was 2007 man
I remember watching Larry Hughes at saint louis from my friends highlights and god damn why does he remind me of that kid I’m your team that create plays and take the ball and shoot
Mike Bibby was one of my favorite players as a kid. That Kings team came so close. I still think they got screwed out of a championship against the lakers.
Mike Bibby & white chocolate underrated fr
Bonzi wells rejecting a big contract to get a small contract. Rondo next to him: I should do that. 9:43
When us NBA fans were watching highlight shows it was all Carter and Williams. And then we would go on the court trying imitate whatever wizardry White Chocolate had done the nights before.
11:23 Man! Love that Stephen A. Smith reference
Am I the only one remembering Raef LaFrentz being kinda good?
Nope he was pretty good here in Boston
Nice video, but Corey Brewer was from 2007 draft class.
I was in the middle of watching a Vince Carter mix when this popped up in my feed.
Got Antawn Jamison and Rashard Lewis to sign my Kyries after we played at cap one arena shits so nice
10:20 Tell me that ain’t Kawhi in a Vancouver Grizzlies uni 😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Doleac was part of Miami '06 Champion team though.😅
Talk about 1990 draft class. Please.
Bonzi well "Poland jail blazers"😂😂
Corey Brewer played with Horford and Noah at UF in 07 🤔
Yeah Andy , wrong Corey Brewer my guy
I really appreciate "Earl Boykins for how Good a player he was! Even though he was a Role Player for most his Carrer, he one of the Shortest Player ever to Play and make the League! But he Play for 13 years in the NBA and was a Journeyman as he played for 10 Different Teams! I am Short myself, but Earl prevail through being Undrafted then has a Long Carrer in the NBA! Not Bad Earl, Not Bad Indeed!
